Which Non-Qualifying songs deserved to be in the final of Eurovision in the past years?

@@elvinam888 Some songs receive many points from jury and a few from televote and vice versa. Croatia receive average points from both but additionally, it wasn't enough...

For every Oniro Mou, Blackbird, Eastern European Funk that's there, there's a Boom Boom, Live it Up, or Run with the Lions which doesn't deserve to qualify for the final.
It's a mixed bag, and we'll have to see how the 2023 contest goes to see if 100% televoting semifinals are the right decision or not.
Certainly a mixed bag, but OTOH, it's definitely a travesty that a song that's as high as *6th, or even 4th* in televotes can be left out (a few such examples here), just because a few so-called "experts" think so...
I low-key liked Run with the Lions... but I agree, songs like Boom Boom shouldn't be in the final.

I was not happy about this change. Until i saw that we (finland) would have qualified a lot more with this rule and now i’m more content about this rule :)
I see a trend that more regional traditional styles would have had better success in this system. Also the really out of the box songs seem to do better in this system.
My concern with the 100% televote semi system is that songs like Ela and Sekret, while popular in the fandom, were not vocally up to par; the jury qualifiers helped balance this - surely the final is gonna decrease in quality…
i'm a big fan of both of these songs and i agree, the performances weren't the best, but at least in the case of Ranela, she can sing live, so she could probably correct whatever was wrong in the finale

Simply, Esc semis will become a Jesc repeat were always the same countries will be successful due to the hype per contest.
They helped to balance it with snoozy blah-llad from Switzerland, that was waste for final slot. This is not entrance exam to music school, it's about overall vibe and performance, not nit picking on vocals. Ronela was a mess, but I get why people liked it...and i'd rather heard Ella in the final as opposed to "boy to bore you to sleep"

2019 was such a lose year and Lithuania one of my favs that year. Then estionia and Finland with kit and blackbird were big fan favs
Actually in 2009 the semi-finals were 100% televote (unless a jury back-up needed to be used which was for Albania and Spain) for the top 9 and then a jury chose the 10th act.

It's just impossible to know that, for the years in which juries weren't used ;)
I just looked at the other video too, and sometimes we got seriously robbed by the jury/televote split. At other times the juries saved us from some absolutely terrible songs. In any case, it's not like any of these songs were likely to win, and several of the ones here are even part of my all-time Eurovision faves that I still listen to regularly and enjoy. Not being in the final hasn't made me think any less of them.
Bring juries back, please. From these i only liked Sweden 2010, Bulgaria 2012, Switzerland 2012, Portugal 2014, Czechia 2015, Estonia 2017, Poland 2018, Lithuania 2019, Denmark 2021, Croatia 2021 and Cyprus 2022

Switzerland 2017 was 10th with the televote.
It's crazy the discrepancies in the votes. Montenegro 4th in televote and didn't even make it in the top 10.
Of course we saw last year Zero Points Televoting Azerbaijan qualify thanks to the juries, but seeing some songs in this video made me think that juries might still be needed in the semifinal….
Now imagine that a song qualifies through televote, and gets crushed completely by juries, more reason to cry…

cipela, työlki ellää, hope never dies, help you fly, verona and ove os pa hinanden are some of my favourite eurovision songs of all time and they were robbed by the jury so bad im so mad. i feel less strongly about oniro mou, pali sie and tick-tock but they also deserved to go the final i think. the only thing the jury was good for was keeping run with the lions out of the final becuase i hate that song so much lmao

Only tiny minority of these songs, including Türkiye 2011, Netherlands 2012, Czechia 2015 (❤), North Macedonia 2016, Estonia 2017 (❤), Finland 2017 (❤), would deserve to be in the final. It is unfortunate that televoting system is likely to over- and underestimate songs😕

As I can see there, for most entries, they were like either semi-troll or non-professionnal entries... that scares the shit out of me for this year... 😭
Bulgaria 2012, Croatia 2013, Montenegro 2013 and Poland 2019 were robbed for real. Especially Poland 2019, because they would've qualified except one jury member fucked up the order and accidentally put her least favourite first and her favourite last...

@@mariomirceski661 yes, easy to remember, easy to sing along to, maybe her vocals could be even better than Andromache's last year, if she doesn't dance and her movements are limited to walking, doing something with her arms and maybe shaking her hips a little bit. And you also know that they got neighbors and much diaspora voting in this semi as well. So, I definitely wouldn't write it off as a certain NQ. And the song is definitely better and/or more memorable than Ela, Run With The Lions, Greece 2018, their own 2018 entry (Light me up or similar), Denmark 2021, Switzerland 2012 (yes, it was less boring than Hungary 2012, which would have been kicked out by them, but it's not a quality song, and this English is cringe as well, quality wise, Hungary was better, but Switzerland was more memorable and more fun), Belarus 2016 and Finland 2010 and 2015 (especially the former, I think, this type of song should be deemed as torture by the UN Commission on Human Rights and Human Rights Watch and other organizations). And was there really as much controversy going on? Probably it's all blown out of proportion anyway. Much of it are conspiracy theories and lies, you really don't know what to believe anymore. At least from what I could tell from stuff I read on the internet, as I'm not Polish either. (all of the interesting songs that were submitted to the NF weren't included into the NF anyway, yes, maybe it's a questionable jury decision to give Blanka 12 points, even if her vocals in the jury show were better, while Alicja who's got an incredible voice, only got 5 or 6 points, but maybe they were searching for the songs with the highest televote appeal, than the best vocals, getting rid of the superfinal ≠ evidence, they were rigging it for Blanka, what if she came only 6th or 7th the televote, then she wouldn't have even made it to the superfinal, nobody knew in advance, where she was gonna land and whether it would be enough, secondly, Jann probably would have won and his vocals were even worse than hers, lol, maybe Dominik who came in 3rd, but that's almost impossible. Maybe they also didn't rig it to promote Blanka, but rather to hurt Alicja and rob her from going to Eurovision AGAIN, maybe it's not rigging, but rather questionable decisions made by TVP), no one outside the Eurovision bubble who followed the NF season and read comments about this online, nows or cares about this. Plus, this isn't the artist's fault, why punish her for that?
I don't think the Polish diaspora is big enough or vote enough to make a significant difference to the results. In any case, it's a mystery to me how Jann's song was so much more popular than Blanka's. I'm not going to watch the whole Polish national selection, but I wasn't particularly impressed with either of their performances, though Blanka's song was definitely better. They both suffered from bad sound mixing that exposed flaws in the vocal performance more than was necessary too. Blanka's, especially, should have sounded better if they had mixed in the back-up singers just right. Oh well.

The qualifying of Finland 2015,Denmark 2021,Cyprus 2022 oh just no.İ consider combined voting is the best.Cuz it was giving us diversity in the final show and would not allow fast food songs to qualify.
I hope, songs like that won't be making the cut, I'm glad, those 3 didn't qualify,but am afraid, that songs that are that bad or feature failed vocals, would advance to the final, while better songs are gonna be eliminated.

Hard disagree on Denmark 2021 that one absolutely should've qualified.
@@magakazml6929 Andromache performed the Greek choruses quite nicely, so I think Albania had a much worse performance, but I still agree, songs with clear bad performance should not, but likely will qualify.

Thin pickings, very few of these would have any chance of qualifying in 2023 based on song quality alone (i.e., there is always the chance that voting patterns/hype would push some through regardless of song quality).
De todas las actuaciones de este video las únicas que para mi tendrían que haber pasado a la final son: Bulgaria 2012, Montenegro 2013 y Finlandia 2017. El resto, ya sea porque la canción no me parece lo suficientemente buena, porque el/la cantante no ha hecho una buena interpretación o por ambas cosas, no merecieron pasar.

While most of these songs deserved to qualify to the final, Eastern european funk, Boom boom and Aina mun pitaa are prime examples of why we do need the jury in the semi final, these songs are jokes and would've been disaster if they qualified, sorry not sorry.

Think there's a pretty good reason most of these didn't qualify. None of them are particularly good. Think there will be a few surprising exclusions from the semi-finals this year, especially semi-final 1 in Liverpool.
There are some exceptions though, I mean Finland 2017 was amazing and Croatia 2021 was atleast better than Norway, Belgium, and even Azerbaijan. There’s also Greece 2018, Czechia 2015, and Serbia 2009.
I'd add Finland 2010, Montenegro 2013 & Turkey 2011 to the "particularly good" list :)
@@florenna Oh I definitely forgot about 2 of those. Montenegro 2013 is in my top 5 of that year, and so is Finland 2010, Turkey however, definitely wasn't great in 2011 IMO, it feels like they tried to relive the success of "We Could Be The Same" and it flopped.
@@sevenoxia7199 Oh, it certainly wasn't as good as We Could Be The Same, but a great rock song anyway! ;) (It's funny how every rock song is considered to try to relive the success of some other rock song, when Eurovision every year is full of cookie-cutter pop entries, and yet the same is never said about them 😅)

Many of them were useless songs, I'm sad that this year some quality song will be drowned because the public is unable to recognize quality
We shouldn’t assume that. Semi Final 1 is so strong that the only disappointment would be if Croatia qualifies (but I mean, it’s sadly likely because Croats and other Slavs love it). In Semi Final 2, it’s just weaker in general, so we should expect all of the good songs in that Semi to qualify.
@Dan the Slurper Ah yes Azerbaijan, the country that sent an amazing performer with a decent song, was garbage, but Albania, that had a terrible performance and had a semi-decent song, likely was amazing.
@Dan the Slurper Azerbaijan is an exception since they bought the juries as they do almost every year. Switzerland was great instead, way better than that useless screaming Albanian fake badass.
