SLAYER died when Jeff died😢
Damn right. Repentless sucked.
Yeah, maybe. But, Slayer without Jeff, and Dave, was still better than GWAR without Oderus.
None of them are good players…doesn’t matter who tours with Slayer!
You're a clown.
Agreed. After so long, sometimes the death of one can take the wind out of your sails.
Not just because he was an excellent guitarist, but because of what they shared. Team effort, comradery,
friendship, brotherhood, second family, love and success. Sometimes people cant see beyond that with a
loss of a friend and for good reason. It hurts.
Jeff at half his best would still blow Kerry away!Jeff wrote all the best Slayer songs .
You're goddamn right there
Seeds of Horror is Slayer all the way up to World Painted Blood and that's the genius of Jeff Hannemann
the first slayer recording, I ever seen, was "Live Intrusion". On VHS. Jeff blows Kerry away, easily.
True! Jeff and Dave was Slayer!
Lol no
Jeff was always the guitarist of Slayer.
Hard to Respect King with the Shit he says sometimes.
Kerry Queen lil midget with dyed beard and tribal tattoos@@BocaoZ
@@BocaoZ naw hes a piece of work and shit at guitar
And songwriter
Kerry Queen and his clip on dyed beard
Jeff was Slayer. He did 90% of the songwriting and he was the "Sound" of Slayer. JH is sadly missed!!!
Not defending King at all but that's not true. While the best songs were written by Jeff if you go over writing credits it's more like 60/40 and King wrote a lot of good stuff as well. It's not Kerry's fault that Jeff drank himself to death. And if you listen to some recordings of Seasons in the Abyss 10th anniversary tour Jeff was not playing well at all. And I am not talking about mistakes here and there, the entire performance was very bad.
@Albee213 I think you are way off on writing credits. Jeff could play, Kerry goes through the motions. Slayer died with Jeff. If Kerry was such a contributor, then why did Slayer come to an immediate end when he died? Because there was no way Kerry was going to step-up and fill those shoes. FACT
Everything you said is objectively false. Sure Jeff was a stronger songwriter.however Kerry was a more solid rhythm player and he played every single note other than Jeff's solos from the mid 90s on. He wrote WAY more lyrics than anyone else in the band and he was a trooper all the way to the end. Jeff is one of my favorite guitarists and songwriters but his drinking had already started to affect his playing before the spider bite .the arthritis in his body, according to his wife was a direct result of excessive drinking. It's funny how most of the so called fans of slayer have turned against the guy who has tried to keep the band going. But then again, the metal community has been full of followers for as long as I can remember.
@@reverendg5937 because Tom wanted to call it quits.nice try brainiac!!!; 😂
@@Albee213 this guy is too slow to add up the writing credits. So he tells you that you are wrong lol
King was more concerned about public image, than his sick friend and band mate.
Opinion not fact
I totally agree. Kerry could've put what he said another way. Like if they sounded bad it would be Jeff's fault.
It's truth and played out constantly by Kerry. He's a poser
@@JSlikbeer-ni6xf I don’t know how else to interpret it. Open to suggestion
@@elihyland4781 Well maybe he wanted his friend to look good, Exactly what he said in the interview
After the Spider Bite Jeff drank himself to death. Let's not sugar coat it. It is what it is.
Probably started long before the spider if there ever was a spider.
@@ChrisKAloha if it wasn't a Spider then what happened to his arm?
I worked at a hotel that Slayer stayed at during a tour. I was lucky enough to meet the band. Tom, Paul and Jeff were clearly exhausted but still had the time to do autographs and photos for any fans there. Kerry on the other hand was a massive disappointment.
That's odd, Kerry always stopped and talked with the fans. He was the most accessible out of everyone with the exception of Paul.
It was probably the drinking that gave him a lower immune system from the spider bite.
How many great artists have we list to drugs n alcohol?
The spider bite compromised his liver.
@@gregoryporch8395 the gallons of beer he drank for years compromised his liver.i was a huge fan but excessive drinking can and will eventually kill anyone.
@@joshpelton8068 Drinking that heavily definitely shortens life expectancy by about 20 to 30 years. He probably could've handled drinking the way he did for some time longer had the spider bite not happened, but the liver goes to work fixing that too and it couldn't handle the beer diet anymore.
@@gregoryporch8395 yeah, and according to his wife in a guitar world interview, he was told to quit eating red meat, and peanut butter and refused to do that as well.sounds like he didn't really want to live after the spider bite.she said he had a hard time just being Jeff and not Jeff from slayer. It's too bad. He and Kerry were two of my favorite guitarists.i just am sick of the hate Kerry is getting from people who are claiming to be fans. I'm done watching slayer related you tube videos lol
Probably the medications he was on to recover from the bite was hard on the organs as well and his habits had a multiplier effect. It's hard to kill your liver with just drinking alone. It usually coincides with something else like hepatitis. Alcoholics usually die of heart disease before liver disease,
Have loved slayer since 87. The more I found out and just observed. The more I dismisse king
Kk was being a true friend to Jeff by saying that. If Jeff did try to play even 3 songs, he'd be exhausted (and that came from Jeff himself), so yea, he did him a solid instead of fuckin up at the biggest show of his life!!
@@randyz.205 Regardless, it still makes King sound like a dick which is easy for him and his ego
@@randyz.205 so many of these people seem to think that Kerry king wasn't doing Jeff hanneman right. Those 2 accomplished a lot together in slayer.sure Jeff was a better songwriter but Kerry kept the band going for a long time .gotta love the internet haters !😂
Yep
@@joshpelton8068 Also it;s a big clickbait title..."He Didn’t Allow JEFF HANNEMAN To Play More Than Two Songs"
He more or less advised Jeff only to play 2 songs.....
I’d be mad at everyone all the time, too, if I was 5’6”.
Scott Ian & Dan Spitz must be balls of white hot rage by that reasoning
I’m grateful to have seen that last performance, I didn’t even know at the time when I saw them and I was like “ why the fuck is the exodus guy up there on stage with them?” Then I found out why then absolutely lost my shit when he came out after a break and started the south of heaven riff! RIP Jeff!
That show was the 29th time i saw them. They definently killed. I was hyoed up for the openers (Philtera, Ministry, Primus) but when thise three performed, I didnt care. Knowing that Slayer was gonna call it a day (aside from these reunion gigs coming up) had me
Kerry bussines king
Say what you want about him, there would be no Slayer without KFK.
Damn! Didn't realize I got to see Jeff's last two songs on stage. 😔
I’m sure no one wants to remember JH’s last performance as a shell of himself stammering and stumbling through his own riffs.
Exactly! All of these people slamming Kerry for having to tell his longtime friend and band mate that he would be better off doing 2 songs rather than 4 because 1. Jeff would be disappointed in himself if he messed up.2. people would remember that performance which would be his last as extremely flawed. As someone who has sort of come back from a wrist injury that initially rendered me unable to play for years, I can say that in the 2 months that I've been playing ( after a 6 year forced hiatus) I have noticed several severe deficiencies in my picking.my right wrist and thumb have severe nerve damage .my thumb is bent inward which affects my picking. Also I'm now forced to pick from the elbow ..it's crazy to have a part of your body not respond to what your brain is telling it to do. While I'm glad to play again it still sucks to be so limited.
I saw them open for Judas Priest in Vancouver Bc for the South of Heaven Tour, I was amazed at the speed they played and how easy they made it look, what a concert that was.....they killed it, my ears still ring from that show!!!
Niiice, was there too!!
@@vonclod123 what a concert hey, blew me away, good times man
King was doing the right thing as a friend and a band-mate.
Was blessed to see Slayer co headline the Reinventing the Steel tour with Pantera in 01!
Static X opened.
Lot of legends in that show gone far too soon. The next day, I woke up. But, it was about 3 days later that my body joined me.
Went to that show in KC. Morbid Angel, Skrape, Static-X. One of my faves. I also loved the Testament , Megadeth playing all of Rust in Piece fullalbum, followed by Slayer playing all of Seasons.
I live in ND a friend and I flew to CA to see that show when Jeff come out to play the last songs I can't describe how awesome that was I will never forget that RIP Jeff
Kerry King loves to burden everyone with his ego. Slayer-Lite fans still won't burn their T-shirts but it would be cool if they did
You just sang a country song…sure be cool if you did….lol
@@yeahsure9759 "A lot cooler" would be more accurate like Dazed and Confused. Kerry King will still be selling T-shirts to the teenie-bopper minds because they'd think it's cool to be like Kardashians
@@madgascoin2901yeah he annoys me to no end and I feel Hanneman wasn’t properly tributed imo….i liked him when he was younger but as he got older he seems a bit iron fisted about the business in his favor when it should never be like that
@@yeahsure9759 I'm just wondering how much sampling/backing tracks will be used in the new shows and if anyone would actually care as long as it's loud.
Kerry was looking out for jeffs best interest.he knew jeff wasn't ready for more than 4 songs.man have people become overly sensitive.everyone blames kerry for Jeff's health issues .the fact that kerry kept the band going since the 90s should earm him some respect. I am guessing most of the haters weren't even born yet when slayer formed .
I was born in 80. Been a fan of Slayer since 92. Jeff was a grown ass man. If he said he wanted to do 4 songs, Who is King to tell him no? Jeff was Slayer through and through. Jeff, with the possibility of fumbling through 4 songs is still better than Kerry King KNOWN to fumble on his own shit. Seen Slayer 29 times. Seen seen all 6 members at least once mess up one thing or another (ill take that back. Holt put his own to the solos and Jon Dette,I SWEAR, plays betters drums live than both Dave or Paul.
I never heard that everyone blames Kerry for Jeff dying. Everyone I KNOW blamed Jeff, alcohol and a fiddleback
@@bluntforcetrauma2141 well I didn't mean it literally. What I meant is, since Jeff's passing a lot of people have forgotten that Kerry ,while not being as strong as a songwriter as Jeff did indeed keep the band going and was a more prolific writer from the mid 90s on. The hating on Kerry is silly and it shows the bandwagon jumping group think of a lot of metal fans . I've always been a bigger fan of hannemans songs and solos but Kerry has accomplished a hell of a lot more than all of the haters.
@@bluntforcetrauma2141 good for you
Dude you are not even a Metal fan, so......
If that was me I'd be asking if he felt he could do more than 4! I saw the show and Jeff definitely wasn't at his best, but I didn't care. Just seeing him up there was more than enough.RIP Jeff 🤘🤘🤘
Kerry is on the level of chris barnes now
Almost. Haha
The first Big 4 gig was in Sofia, Bulgaria. Not in the US.
It said “four biggest thrash metal bands of all time PLAYED TOGETHER for the first time in the US”. Not the first big 4 gig in the US.
Didn't Jeff write most of Slayers songs? I know king wrote some, but Jeff wrote the overwhelming majority as far as I'm aware. They should've replaced king a long time ago.
I’ve read different interviews from Rob Flynn to Hannenman’s wife. Jeff really was a mess and struggled to play at that level.
Screw Rob Flynn. He's a little dirtbag.
Kerry King can f*cm off. Jeff Hanneman was always the true talent in Slayer. He wrote all the best riffs and songs and carried King's arse for decades.
Jeff rules, King drools. Utter m*ng.
Легендарный🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Nobody was unaware of his health problems from drinking, ok I guess nobody looked at the huge Heineken label on his guitar 😅
Kerry just didn’t wanna be upstaged. Cause Jeff is so much better than he ja
His family nor his wife from 30 years were not aware of his liver/booze problem?? I doubt that... He must have had dozens of blood tests when sick... Such a sad loss
I agree and disagree with King. And I would tell him that. However King did a point. Why run the risk of something happening to Jeff while he performs. We all say yes we can do anything. But then when we do it. Sometimes we realize our own limitations
🙏🤘🤘🙏
There is no way he was unaware he had cirrhosis of the liver, he would have been feeling it big time
Whatever you think of Kerry King as a person or a player is largely irrelevant. The point is, he's been doing this a LONG time.. He knows what it takes to play these songs live. And sometimes when you're immersed in it yourself, you can't make an accurate assessment.. By that I mean you need external assessment to save yourself from yourself (if that makes sense.) For example.. Every athlete at one point thinks he can do it as well as he always could. But often the coach has to bring him down to earth. I'm not particularly a fan of Kerry's, but I think he was more concerned with Jeff, than he was with Slayer's image.
The weird hate that Slayer fans have for Kerry is just awful. There would be no Slayer without Kerry King and his "never take no for an answer" personality.
This is non-sense, Jeff played all of the big four at Sofia.
The more i hear about kerry the more i dislike him. Slayer may have reunited now but ever since the band retired kerry spent most of the time putting his bandmates down. He even went so far to say he did bass for Tom. Kerry has tol big of an ego period.
Kerry, probably related to Larry King.

Martin Luther Kings dream was for his son, Kerry King to follow in his footsteps. Kerry Had deepseeded hatred for his dad for beating him. In a case of angst and revolt to dad, he played songs about Josef Mengele then bicced his dome. FU DAD
Kerry has been bashing the other bandmates latley
And are reuniting for a few shows after King's shit talking about his fellow band mates. 😂😂

Kerry always seemed cool to me all these years, but the last few months he's starting to feel like a real dick. They say never meet your Heroes, I only got to meet Tom and he was cool as fuck
"Slayer Light" That is what KK was worrying about people calling his new Band.
He said in an interview that is why he Snubbed Gary Holt for the other Guitar slot...
Kinda $h!tty if ya ask me...But what do I know.
exodus and slayer = happy riffs
Bro make sure your ai voice pronounces things correctly. Only once did it pronounce Hanneman correctly. The rest of the time it was saying Hannman
Jeff Hanneman was the way better guitarist in Slayer
Henneman himself said King was a better technical player.
KK is a little prick but he has the best right hand, along with Hetfield. Jeff wrote 90% of what makes us love Slayer, but he's had problems with his right hand since the 90s. Kerry recorded all the rhythm guitars after the "Seasons In The Abyss" album, and Jeff recorded only his solo.
Come on now. A sloppy Hanneman is still light years better than Kerry Burger king...
Sorry, but no... Jeff was not a gifted guitar player and he even mentionned that K.K was the better guitarist.
Kerry record all the guitars parts in studio... the picking hand of JH was his weakness. Both are great in their own and they are Slayer

Just another reason to dislike King, Jeff was a better more creative player, his solo's were more coherent, he wrote the damm songs.
"Hanmen?" Obvious computer voice.
Makes you wonder. Kerry King is known as an ass and people rightfully criticize him but what about a case like Judas Priest and Glenn Tipton? Halford and the band come off as very nice and heartfelt but how do we know they aren’t the ones who prevent Tipton from doing more? I know he’s not going to be playing Painkiller anymore but maybe there’s something easier he could still play?
Fuck all of this HATE. That was the VERY thing us young metal heads were AGAINST back in the day. I went to the Sundance Club in Bayshore, NY in 1992 to see the band Death.
The place could probably hold 300 people safely, but there were always over 400. At that show, there was ONE black dude that showed up to mosh and kick down with the music.
Every single person in that club cheered him when he got up on the stage to stage dive, and anyone within 2 feet of him hugged him like there was no tomorrow when he landed.
We were PROUD that "our" music was reaching out.
My point is...... That music brought people together. No place for finger pointing or hate!!
Slayer changed my life as a teen in 1984, and I never looked back.
Slayer has to be considered one of the best Thrash/Death Metal bands of all time.
Its hilarious reading all the posts from you posers. Bahahahaha!
The slayer dynamic was a strange one.
Once they achieved success they splintered.
It became about buisness.
And egos….except Tom who was always kind and polite
Slayer practiced in Anaheim.
They kept to themselves as slayer fans can be a bit over the top.
They were nicer to the people at the bar across the street from their rehearsal space then to most people.
I toured w slayer and barely ever spoke to them .
If you weren’t part of their core group of people.
They definently enjoyed their privacy. Who you play for? I never toured with em, but got to open one time in Iowa with like 30 other local bands on the bill. Openers were down the sun, poison the well(i think?) And In Flames
Kerry's a poser and as always been, always preferred Jeff🤘
him having a "spider Bite" exactually where you inject black tar is very fishy.

Slayer SUCKS!!!
If Jeff wanted to play 4 songs, he should’ve played 4 songs. Kerry shouldn’t have had the “hardest conversation” at all. ….
King is a dick but I think he was right here, not for how it would appear to fans if things went badly doing four songs, but about how Jeff would feel about himself if things went badly... I think fans wouldn't care if he just fucking stood there headbanging and throwing picks for four songs, mf is the goat regardless but personal disappointment for someone already going through a rough patch in life would hit harder IMO.
