  • I visited Oberhausen in the west of Germany to visit the 2 Lego stores there.
One of the stores was next to the Lego Discovery Centre and the other is in the main shopping centre.
I was looking for and unusual set or any sets that are hard to get hold of in the UK.

Really nice video Iain. We went to Oberhausen twice last year mainly for the two Lego stores. But there is a third store just 10 minutes drive away from the official Lego store, which is JB Spielwaren. They only sell Lego, its a beautiful store which is definitely worth visiting when you are in Oberhausen, very nice owners aswell. First time we were there they even showed us there Bricklink warehouse, which was absolutely massive (1.7 mln parts!!) Hope you got a chance to go there, if not maybe a tip for a next trip over there 😊

Thanks Peter. I was in Oberhausen last year and visited the Legoland store and the official Lego shop. I'll probably go back there at some stage so will take a look at that other store

@@iainsbricks I live on a island and therefore do not have a lego store.

I am surprised that every Lego store you have gone into, that the mini Disney Castle is in stock.

Yes, everywhere seems well stocked with that set at the moment. No sign of it retiring yet so I will hold off from buying for investment for the time being.

Hotel looks like one of those European prison style hotels.

Lol. It was a B&B hotel - cheap and cheerful!

Some good boxes you picked up.
I dont believe Batman is that a good selling item overhere as well as in Germany. When I visited my nearest Lego store they had a lot of them on big shelves. Reason why i stay away from them 😅

In the UK the classic Batman cars have been very successful - I remember watching the old TV show back in the 70s and 80s so probably more nostalgia for the show in the UK and USA than there is in Germany.

@@iainsbricks That’s perfectly alright: I thought I just try my luck. 😊 Glad you made it back to the UK safe and sound.
Have a nice day and maybe next time. ✌🏻

The city skateboard park has been £2.50 in Tesco I picked a few up when they had them.

I must have missed those ones, However my local Tesco very rarely has much in the way of Lego.

Great video Iain (and channel too), we are planning a trip here this summer but have been put off by a notice online saying they accept “EC card payments only”
Sorry to ask but are you able to confirm how you purchased things in the discovery store? We are hoping they’ll accept UK bank card or cash but don’t want to make the trip if we can’t buy any rare finds.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

Hi. Thanks for your comments. I will have used my Tesco Credit Card which is a Mastercard. If you do end up going, there is a normal Lego store in the Shopping centre just across the road from the Discovery centre, as well as the shop they have there as well.

Brilliant, we will definitely be going to both. Glad you clarified that for us as we couldn’t bare to go and then be rejected at the till.
