      Hey no problem at all. I just started yesterday and am not having the best luck but it's fun anyway. I decided to blame it on the strength of my 250lb magnet and bought a 1000lb yesterday. Let's see how it works!

    Probably should get one of them plastic inserts for the top of that lid where your rope goes through overtime I'm sure it will cut it. They sell them at Pep Boys for like when you drill through your firewall of your Jeep or car to run a wire through. Stops the wire from dragging on the firewall as you pull it through. In this case should have stopped at rope from constantly rubbing against set sharp part of the cap. I'm just starting out just ordered a thousand pound magnet from Amazon I've been watching the hell out of these videos. I thank you for your time

      Cooling the magnet will restore its magnetism. Unless you threw it in the fire and completely destroyed its magnetic properties.
      I accidentally heated mine up but 10 min in the freezer and it was as strong as ever.
      Also, double sided magnets won't pull as strong as single sided ones. I have a double sided rated for 600 lbs on each side, 1200 as a whole. Straight up and down it has not even the same strength as my 200 or 500 lb sindle sided magney

    I learned simple stupid with my magnet, anything I added to it made it worse. I use to have a shielded one with a long eye bolt (because it fit) and a bottle top added to keep it from snagging non-metallic stuff along with a large rope. I now have a non-shielded neodymium magnet with an eye bolt and rope. The downside, it's lack shielding, the magnet is more prone to breaking but I haven't had an issue with that yet, it can grab random stuff at times. The upside is I can catch stuff easier with the sides exposed, which makes dragging better, I also have thinner, more robust rope that's closer to it's weight rating (not so overkill) that's easier to toss with, and the eye bolt was cut down so I could pack the magnet away better.

    👍Good idea for existing single sided magnets. The Cone shape magnets (Brute Magnetics Cone Fishing Magnet | 575 lbs Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet) takes care of this if buying new. Little pricey though ~$60 USD. It still seems like a good idea for all magnets as a little added protection from scrapes and chipping the magnet on sharp rocks. 👍🧲

    And... have you already try it? I know by my public Flemish lady (who's usually work on her back), both side attracting, that you catch much more out of a pond, so I belief it would work fantastic. While I was watching your video I remember what The Black Crow have said that the rope is wear out. Take one or two meter of garden-hose of different much thicker hose, because I use a Power pull magnet with a much thicker rope and slide that over your rope and keep it on place with a shrink sleeve.

      Well if you are dropping the magnet straight up and down, wouldn’t you want the magnet facing down? With this setup, if you let the magnet hang, the magnetic surface is parrallel with your rope, right? So you would be sliding the magnet off whatever it stuck to.

    • @justinnitkowski8745
      @justinnitkowski8745 Před 6 lety +1

      I definitely like the idea and the “snag and debree resistance” part of it. I’m just skepitical because pulling from that angle is essentially how you detach finds from your magnets in the first place, slide it off by pulling from the side. Anyone else catch my drift? or am I overthinking this? Have you tried this setup? If you havent yet, I suggest having a control (the traditional setup) vs your setup and compare the pull forces that way.
