I've always suspected that double sided were ideal for shore lines and single sided from above, but it was nothing more than theory. Thanks for giving us the up close evidence, it was very insightful.

@John Doe not necessarily, it is good for starting out, but a double sided magnet is actually split between the two sides a 1200 lb double sided is really only pulling 600 lbs on either side. So it's hard to get a really strong double sided to use for drop down fishing

however from experience, single sided seems to work better because as it is pulled, it moves things in the ground to "dig up" items so to speak. Anytime I've used the double sided, it seems to knock off items when I've felt them attach if I'm dragging it when it comes across trees or rocks. I've had way more luck with single sided when using both in the same area.

I am considering trying to attach a tennis ball/raquet ball or a big fishing bobber to the eye of the 2k lb single side with a 1/2"-1" rope attaching it..l think this SHOULD do the trick to keep that single side DOWN. I honestly am blown away by the Brute 3600lb magnet..it's VERY stout! I don't think l would buy another single side..the dual side eliminates any benefit a Single might have..which are none from what l see..
