Great review. I’ve had a KH Super Console X King for years now, wasn’t aware of this one. Looks pretty good.
It amazes me when I see people’s comments about not buying these “boxes from China”….and I get it, however people can easily run virus scans on these, yet they ignore the million other devices they have in their home already “from China”(tablets, security cameras, iRobots, phones, etc) and never virus check those. 😂
Anyway, great job again Ralph!
Thanks for watching man! This thing is very capable, I was pretty impressed by it! Thanks again for watching man, good point on the china boxes, I would imagine I probably have a lot of potentially suspect devices on my network 😂
😂😂😂 yup
Great vid. Honest and practical review. It’s like you’re sitting down and checking these boxes out with a buddy. None of that “Here’s the box, the specs, come up with your own opinion because I’m paid/sponsored” nonsense.
I really appreciate that, I tried to lay it all out there the best I could. These products with this many games can be a little difficult to truly review every single aspect of it. Especially because under the covers it's really just a pretty front end with a bunch of emulators behind it. So you could do a 4 hour long video on just how all the emulators work individually.
Anyhow, I really apprecaite the comment and thanks so much for watching!
@@RetroRalph I think these huge builds are too overwhelming at times. They are probably great eye candy for newer people into the hobby.
@@RetroRalphit’s a misleading it’s on par with my Amazon Fire Tv 2023.
It plays PSP Ps1 N64 Nds Dreamcast and Older. Ps2 is a hot and miss and anything above that won’t play same with GameCube. But I have my Xbox series x on dev mode which helps out.
@@RetroRalphthank you for the videos.
This console is pretty good. Mixed performance on the higher end consoles (PS2, GameCube, Wii), but most of the games I wanted to play actually worked pretty good. For the PS2 games, I have them at 2.25 screen resolution and the God of War games, Devil May Cry, NBA & NFL 2K5 work just fine. At 2x resolution, games like Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Bros Wii, WWE Day of Reckoning 2, and TMNT work good off the Dolphin emulator. Some games run better than others, so you gotta determine if you want to play games that all work under the same settings, or do you want to tweak the settings per game. My preference is the same settings for all games. Also… keep that android remote control because it will come in handy for exiting out of the GameCube and Wii games, in addition to adjusting the volume output on your TV. If y’all need any assistance with how to exit out of the games or getting your game controller to work properly, drop a comment and I’ll help as best as I can!
Hey boss...im torn between buying a modded ps3 or this setup that you have exp with. Sheesh lol.
To be honest. I only play fight night 2004. Ps2. I love the game. I was wondering do it have fight night? Or can i install a iso file that i downloaded off of roms. N lastly is it better with my own controllers...
Android bluetooth controller.
Ps4 controller.
Or 2 of these. To play 2 player mode. Apologies for the questions. You just happen to kinda answer what im asking boss.
@@cmoe2386 You can’t go wrong either way. Fight Night 2004 does run smoothly on this console, as well as the other Fight Night Games. I would say 75%-80% of the PS2 library on this console runs smoothly on 2X screen resolution. You can add another controller as well. If you purchase the console, make sure you read the instruction manual to understand how to do that.
@@keeganhash5057 Do you mean the game controller? The remote is already programmed for the android box.
@@HerbJr316 💪🏾🫡💯 u solid boss
I enjoy you looking at other retro gaming options, and this was a fun video. Seeing "Wicked" was a fun surprise. 💯🔥😀👍
The punisher arcade game is really underrated. Was and is still one of my favorites
I couldn’t agree more man!!!
Great review! The PS2 games I really wanted to play are running great at 2.25 screen resolution. That’s the safe number for those games to run well so I won’t have to keep changing the settings. GameCube games… it’s more complicated than it needs to be for the game controller to exit back to the menu. I’d rate it a 7/10.
Other than the potential malware issues, these boxes are a great alternative to rpi's.
I would assume embedded malware not an issue on amlogic s905x3 boxes booting from Batocera SD images? Assuming the Batocera image is malware free of course.
It appears the malware, Spyware issues are associated with the rock chip boxes running the on board os
Oh cool! I do like how there are an increasing new ways to play. Makes it easier especially with soaring original prices.
Thanks for the video Ralph… AND Wicked!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for watching it!
@@RetroRalph you got it, pal (imagine the “Wink-n-Point” of approval)
Great video. I will stick with my Mini PC MP-100 for now. Might upgrade to something else by the end of the year.
This was a cool video. I have the Super Console X Pro and I really enjoy it. I didn't know they made this. I'm aware of the mini pcs they make, so for them to do something with Android is pretty surprising.
It seems like the chipset for this box is pretty capable. I do know that the occasional slowdown with Dolphin is due to shaders caching. Any slowdown with any other emulators may be due to compatibility or optimizations.
Also, i didn't know you had an ROG Ally, that's a great handheld. They make pretty powerful gaming phones as well.
This was an awesome video. It's good to see a long form video from you for a change.
Btw, the streaming service for Xbox is called Gamepass. 😂
Hey dude, I hope all is well man! I love my ROG ally, I have CoinOPs on it and use it often for Arcade games. Anyhow, I appreciate you watching bud, I really enjoy and miss the long form content so thanks for pointing that out.
I'm really trying latley to just do whatever I find interesting and if it means long form vs. short form, just do it. I got into my own head for a while on youtube so I'm hoping to "go back to basics" and not worry so much about literally "everything"... LOL!
Thanks for always supporting me brother, it means a lot!
Great video. Love your channel. Not seeing the game list in the description however.
Oh crap, I forgot to include it, adding it now.
@@RetroRalph No worries. Thanks for your reviews and gaming insights. Been playing arcade games since the Atari 2600 and Intellivision days. Man it’s been a trip seeing the evolution of gaming systems over the years.
It really is and China has been pumping these things out like crazy over the past 5 years.
The most recent updates to the main PS2 emulator in the scene (PCSX2) have been huge in terms of speed, compatibility, and graphical fixes. I don't know if you can update the emulation cores in what looks to be a customized RetroArch inside that box, but if you can, do it.
That particular controller is the best included controller that these systems typically come with. Way better than those chemical wireless dongle ones. Metal slug collection on Wii has ms6 and maybe it will run smoothly in comparison to the atomiswave version for those that maybe interested. GOW on ps1 running smoothly is excellent.
Yeah the don't have EmuElec .. i loved that software.
The HDD on the side I will never get used to this 🤣
Awesome video it's fun to see you get back into some emulation stuff 😄
For the money I would just buy a mini pc 😁 ... Batocera YEAH 😆
Thanks for the cameo my friend, this was a fun video and even more fun with you in it!! Wicked "Emulaton Master"!
Now it's your turn to join me 😄@@RetroRalph
Hi there! I been looking videos of retro consoles and i found you can make it with a Tv Box or a Mini Pc, but there is so much stuff out there its hard to pick one or the other. What will you recommend Tv Box or Mini Pc and which one specifically i'm thinking in a 100-150 USD range (hopefully can emulate PS2-PS3 and Nintendo Switch)
Kris cool mod still sounds like the way to go. I’m really rooting for the Android boxes because they simplify the real version of plug and play. I’m not a computer guy so changing your D drive, download this and that yatta yatta still bothers me… but one day shall a china android box be an option. Lol
Just bought an Acemagician Am06 Pro😀👌
-Ryzen 7 5800H CPU
-Radeon RX Vega 8 GPU
-16GB DDR4 Dual Channel RAM
-512GB M.2 SSD
I would love to see you do a video on the Starblade Arcade cabinet sometime. It was huge, it was loud, it was an experience.
Any chance you’ll do a controller setup vid for the ones that aren’t out of box ready to go, for noobs like myself?
I absolutely love Kinhank. I'm thinking of getting the 12 TB drive. I've seen other CZcamsrs scan it for malware and spyware and they come up clean, so they're pretty safe.
I'm really curious about the controller. Is it around the same size as a PS4/PS2 controller?
And also how do you save game progress?
It's a gamesir t3
Some of those emulators I know on there do. Like for PS2 definitely. PSP yup, not sure on all the others but it's likely. Otherwise just save like normal.
Your videos are great, so thanks a million but if it's possible I'd like to see those 3DS games, Nintendo DS are some of my favorite! ✌🏼🤓🎮
Awesome video keep up the good work 💯
very new to emulators but as a sports gamer can you save your progression over franchise/season modes? Baseball Stars NES is really intriguing for me along with many on Sega Gen & SNES
Good collection of Lynx games! Is it too late to return yours?! LoL nah man I'm really happy with the Lynx II - it's in perfect condition and plays great. Thanks again for the secret stash California Games and shipping it out so quickly. Keep up the great work with your channel!
PS - can you hook up external controllers (ie XBOX controller) over bluetooth to this Super ConsoleX5?
The android box jungle is getting crazy... Wicked would be the man to ask about these definitely...
Yeah it's a jungle i'm lost now 🤣🤣
Hey wicked ✌️😂
LOL... right?! So Crazy, that's why I called in the big guns (AKA Wicked Gamer and Collector).
Have the same one myself :). The heat the drive but also the box generate over time is kinda naughty. The games selection for PS2 is ok. They could have skipped 10 different NFL or other games from different years in chronological order and put there some more RPGs. But overall pretty cool collection and a good emulator.
i'm very new to trying retro emulation gaming. you said that there could be some shady software on the box and you wouldn't recommend connecting it to my network. are the games & emulators on the external hard drive safe to copy to my computer or is there a chance of copying/downloading something malicious to my computer/external hard drive? thanks again i'm just very new to all this, and I'm learning as i go.
Great video Ralph
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Great video bro. So what would you say is the best overall retro gaming box regardless of price? Thanks man
Man, it’s really tough to say. To be honest, I would get a mini PC, download coinop’s and be done with it. These units are cool but there’s always compromises.
Until i find the LTT video, what is supposedly up with the issue with networking? Back door to your network? Turns your arcade 1up into a crypto miner? Encrypts your roms so only CoolToy can play them? Great video, WickedRalph!
All of the above... LOL. I should have said "allegedly it can cause harm", I don't have any proof of that other than what Linus Tech Tips said about these android boxes in this video: czcams.com/video/1vpepaQ-VQQ/video.htmlsi=9zJY4-vx0m7AzO8R
Just curious, would that android box work on something like a arcade cabinet? That’s been modded, something like a one up arcade style? I’m more interested in if the controllers would port into that android Box well
Quick question, I live in Phx Az and there’s not really a place that sells arcade games. What is better, console like this or a cabinet arcade to get a near perfect experience
I just best Cadillacs & Dinosaurs Arcade Game on my Vita for the first time the other day, but I am definitely gonna be looking into getting one of these!?
Question what kind of TV will work for this console?? Will a regular 1080p tv work
I'm having difficulty trying to find the games in the Pegasus app?
Can you help me out ?
Awesome video
Another great video sir.
Thanks brother, I'm glad you enjoyed it and as always I really apprecaite you watching and continuing to support the channel.
Do you know if we can run original xbox games? Tutorial? 👀
Pepper II on coleco, great game. The arcade version is good too
Can you run other usb controllers off it? Like does it give you the option to remap controls?
Yup, you can plug in other controllers, I tested a few 8bitdo contorllers and they worked well with this setup. You can remap the controls on any of the emulators that you want as well.
@@RetroRalph Figured might be something I could throw in my Nova Blast when it comes in April, along with my actual arcade pcbs. Thanks for the reply!
When I first saw Tatsunoko characters I became an instsnt fan! They remind me of Hanna Barbara Cartoons thay I used to watch on Cartoon Network as a kid.
You remember BirdMan? Blue Falcon?
Just curious. Is it possible to just be able to connect the HDD to the tv and play that way instead of using the media box? Or do i still need to connect it to a box in order to play?
Does this system have the amiga systems on? If not, can it be added after purches?
Nice video Chad- thank you
Chad? 🤷🏻♂️
I think everyone played that Smurf game....lol. That's on you bro!
😂😂😂😂😂
8;10 didn't know there was a Classic Knog game for the SNES.
I believe it's a homebrew game, there's some of those scattered in each console catagory, kinda cool they include them.
Far out, i thought this one was perfect until I realised that there is no Amiga500 or Commodore 64 games...Two systems I grew up with
I know they're different types of devices, but how would the user experience differ from this compared to the MISTer?
Retro Ralph rocks!!!
Very keen to avoid too much focus on Nintendo games aren't you? Wonder why?😅
Because everyone has all of them multiple times over. Sega CD and TG16 CD are a little different
Weido
I'd love to buy this but really think I'm gonna wait for one with more games for stuff like the 3do and cdi.
What about playing with 2 controllers? Is that possible
Finally I've been begging people to review this.
I got you!
Does this support four players controllers?
Did you find issues with GameCube games? None of mine work, and using standalone emulator doesn’t help either. Also couldn’t sign into Google Play-store to update anything, just kicked me back to the home screen.
Did you set the controller to android mode? I didn’t have problems with the GameCube games that I tested. But I only tested a small subset of the games.
@@RetroRalph When I click on a gamecube game they don’t even start. It goes to the loading screen and then immediately back to main screen showing the games.
I had this problem. I found that shutting down the system and unplugging it solved the problem.
Just boot it back up and GameCube games should load up, mostly takes 2 attempts to go in which is weird though.
Does this box come with CAPCOM vs SNK 2 FOR THE PS2? thanks
Thanks for the look Into the sketchy side of gaming! Lol
Hey :) do you know if it's possible to remove the buttons on screen(Ps2 Emulator)??cause they are annoying :D
Can two people actually play the multiplayer games together? I am really considering this. I want to be able to play it with my kids though.
@RetroRalph How do I shut down this system? I just got mine. Please help. Didn't see an option to turn it off.
Anyone know how to set up multiple controllers? Been trying to get some gaming in with my gf but both controllers are being recognized as player 1.
Grand theft auto chinatown on 3ds was so much fun
Also how do you add games?
Sharp X68000 has a good Castlevania / Vampire Killer that was ported/enhanced to PlayStation in Castlevania Chronicles.
guys, what's the best 'safe' emulator console for games like aliens vs predator arcade, un squadron etc? thanks!
Do a video on the Tmnt arcade wrath of the mutants coming out next month for the consoles port from the 2017 raw thrills arcade game from nickelodeon
One question: Does silent hill 2 play well? Just bought one. Thanks for the great review.
Yup and upscaled.
Just set mine up, but it says no games found even with the HD plugged in?
Is it possible to find a n64controller to use on this console?
Just got the X5 pro but I can’t get Game Cube/Wii games to even open. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Popcorn in Bed theme song!!!! 😁
Android boxes seem to have one thing in common.. pretty much every box can emulate any system before N64 pretty good.. but if you want to emulate N64 and onward you should go and get a mini pc instead.. the boxes simply doesn't have enough juice generally speaking.
At minimum they should have included a cheap external enclosure for that drive: I think the N100 mini pc is a far better choice for value vs performance
I wonder if it's got the Sega CD 32x version of quarterback attack
JUST GOT THIS, PRETTY AWESOME. HOWEVER 2 BIG ISSUES WITH PS2 GAMES. 1ST I CANNOT GET THE CONTROLLER TO WORK FOR THOSE GAMES. I WAS ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE GAMECUBE CONTROLLER SET UP, THEY WERE IN THE PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS. BUT THE PS2 ONE IS NOT. ALSO, HOW THE HECK DO YOU GET THE FRAME RATE INFO OFF THE SCREEN WHILE YOU ARE PLAYING? ITS NOT TOO AWFUL, BUT A BIT ANNOYING. I WENT INTO THE SETTINGS, BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING TO REMOVE THAT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, THANKS!!
Did you put the controller into android mode?
Thank you for answering, I think so. I will check later when I can. So if I have it in Android mode, then what do I do? Just go to each option and press "A"? @@RetroRalph
We really need to test Killere Instinct *Arcade Versioin* on every single one of these boxes. Because once they make one that can actually run that game normally, I will never buy one. But that really is the true test for emulation.
I would bet this could run KI no problem, I will see if it's on here. If not I could likely just add it and do some testing.
@RetroRalph That would be awesome. I know alot of people love K.I but can't seem to find anything that can emulate it well. Funny thing, old pentium 2's can run the game at nearly perfect emulation but new PCs can't? It's super bizarre but I've been looking for a device like this that can actually run it smoothly
@@illygotbeatsSeries X and S have a great turn key version on game pass. It’s NOT on the pc game pass.
@ricepony33 thank you. I am aware. However for me, it's about nobody solving the problem yet. I know K.I has a huge following and years ago people ripped their hair out trying to figure out how to emulate it on modern software. I am one of them. So I'm just looking for an emulation box that handles it well so I can truly build my arcade dream cab with multiple roms in one go.
I get that completely, if you can figure that out and VF1 let me know! That's my dream team collection for an arcade machine.
@@illygotbeats
Game list uploaded but cannot move around to see the rest of the games listed in the file or the tabs up top. iPhone user here.
You might have to look at it on a PC, I can't do much about that, sorry man.
@@RetroRalph That’s ok. Will figure it out. Definitely interested in the system mainly for the ps2 games. I have an arcade 1up emulator. It works ok. Wish I had shopped around a little more. Budget was an issue as well at the time. The company was called gameroom solutions out of Oklahoma. Customer service was not the greatest. Had a few issues. Lots of classic games promised on list were not on there. For example: No Mame for Classic Root Beer Tapper? Unable to switch aspect ratio for certain vertical games like Pac-Man for example. I get a full screen but would like to switch back and forth for aspect ratio. Any arcade cabinet emulator company recommendations? Thanks.
I would buy this one. Smokes the raspberry pi....PICK ANY OF THEM!!!
U can run this on a regular TV? No PC needed?
Yes, it has HDMI out so you can run it on your TV no problem 👍🏻
Omg take my money😂
Any chance MVP NCAA Baseball is on there for the PS2?
Edit- there’s a game list. 🤦🏻♂️
I was going to say, check the link to the games list but it looks like you already found it. There's A LOT of PS2 games, so that's pretty cool. Just the time alone to download them all would be crazy and take FOREVER! Thanks so much for watching.
Can you connect a second controller
gamesir controllers are awesome. i use them and this one mad by rii that has a keyboard mouse combo on everything
Does it have Narc??
If possible, connect to neighbors network.
😂😂😂
Nice console 👍
Gamsir makes good controllers. I am surprised they have one included. Console rarely gets the arcade version right. I hate almost all console versions of arcade games.
I was suprised about the Gamesir controller to be honest, they usually packacge these with the worst controllers EVER... LOL. Thanks so much for watching!
Considering the switch is basically an undercloced Nvidia shield we really should be expecting more powerful android boxes at this point
I hit the pegasus icon and it says No games found...please help
I think wicked gamer might have had that problem. Is the hard drive connected correctly? If not, the games won’t show up.
Can't get MAME to respond to any controls. How do I fix this??
Did you set the controller to android mode like it says in the manual?
@RetroRalph I've tried that I got no change. When exactly do I do this? When I first boot up the system? The other consoles all seem to be working fine. it's just Mame that I'm getting no response from controller, and nothing to prompt when I plug in a mouse..
No mention of sewer shark for the Sega CD?!? Also night trap (although I don't see it on the system) deserves a mention anytime Sega CD is talked about. Maybe I'm just old.
I love both of those as well. It’s tough when a system has this many games. I would love to
Highlight all my favorites but the video would be like over 2 hours long if I did that. Thanks so much for watching!
Missing a bunch of sega cd but I’m not complaining a lot of stuff there
Please suggest the best retro games box that doesn't have repeated games, instead 95% of the retro games in the planet.
I was wondering can this hook up to a tv?
Yes, it has hdmi output for a TV 👍🏻
@@RetroRalphAwesome. I don’t remember you mentioning it. Ill have to check this out. I wasn’t sure if it was a pc console. Thanks!
Can you add games to this?
You can, it shows you how to do it in the manual.
Can you use on a tv
As I just updated my Mame to .263. on my $4,000 PC lol
Side note, as I'm watching, that HDD is easy access to static electricity ⚡😮
Yeah it’s crazy right?
@@RetroRalph totally, and as you know, to pay for one of these systems is crazy to me especially if you're going to be "naughty" you can be "naughty" on the internet for free. *cough*

How much$$? Where can I get one?
The link is in the description of the video. It's available for pre-order now and it should ship by March 15th.
Anyone been able to get superman the game ps2 working? The Graphical Glitches seem to be an issue I'm sure there a setting to get it working just wondering if anyone has figured it out if so can you plz share them thank you
