In the beginning when there was a issue with the trailer paperwork wonder how long that would have taken for the driver to resolve without the CEO at hand. Not sure it would have taken longer but I would bet it would. Would have been much more interesting had they matched him with a driver that was not as necktie friendly. Now that would be great!!
Knight Transportation I wonder how y'all gone treat me when I come in September
We look forward to seeing you in September. Are you currently in school?
Knight Transportation I start August 14 and finish September 8 I talk to bo out of olive branch and my dad used to work at night

BEING A PILOT I GIVE YOU DRIVERS A LOT OF CREDIT. FOR MAN HANDLING YOUR RIGS ACROSS OUR COUNTRY.
AMERICA ROLLS ON BIG RIGS.I WISH ALL OF YOU SAFE TRIPS. MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A TAIL WIND AND BLUE SKIES. đđșđž
"Curse the darkness, or light a candle," I like thatâŠ
CNT 2C56 I thought that was a great quote also. I actually rewound the video to go back and hear it again. Very cool message in that quote.
I need to start lighting more candles. Cursing hasnt worked any.
Allen Reeder is my instructor at Knight Transportation. Great guy and a consummate professional. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Thank you Allen.
After seeing two episodes of this series, I have a profound respect for long haul drivers.
Good stuff, I have been a driver a dispatcher a regional dispatch manager and am now a terminal manger for an industrial gases company. The most important thing we as managers can do is connect with the drivers. They need to know we care about them and understand the sacrifices they make daily to provide for their families. I hope that this is still your corporate philosophy, keep those fine ladies and gentlemen rolling down the road safely.
I'm not a driver, but I've recently grown interested in the field (there's been drivers throughout my family, and I recently lost an uncle that drove his entire life OTR), and I really appreciate how the issue with the trailer registration wasn't glossed over. It wasn't ignored, and it took very little time to actually rectify. Very impressive.
Mad respect for a CEO that can get dirty with his employees. Team work at it's best!
I agree. Dave Jackson is a great guy.
@@KnightTransportation1 yea, good job guys. i respect a CEO who's willing to get his hands dirty with the lower workers.
I wouldnât call being in a truck for 2 days getting your hands dirty.
Easy to play trucker for a day
As a driver myself, I honestly enjoyed this video. What I believe stood out and I agree with is an attitude of professionalism
I have spent 24 years behind the wheel here in Canada ( Ontario ) and I must say that there is a divide between company and brokers and until that divide is removed and all are treated equally there won't be kindness .
I love what Allen said "you can curse the darkness or light a candle" - what a great philosophy!
Allen is incredibly wise. We are grateful to have him on our team. Thank you for watching
That's an old jewish proverb.
thanks for taking the time to do a ride along Mr Jackson , i wish all DM and all of our Knight family non driver associates can eventually get to do like wise, much respect to our CEO
It's encouraging to see a CEO went this far to learn what drivers do and what it's like to live in a truck.
Dave I'm 24 years old and was born 6 months before my father decided to become a truck driver. I grew up for the first 10 years not seeing my father for 1 or 2 months and seeing him for a day or 2 and then back again to 1 or 2 months.then when i was 10 my father became an Owner Op and then the finances become nicer but harder at the same time. the point of my speech is that i have missed a lot of time with my father and it is very hard now that I am older and i see the Dangers of the road I can only say one thing. I pray that every night my father stops at a truck stop and is able to sleep. I am glad that your trip was very nice with Allen but not everyday is so tame and nice.
As a driver myself, I honestly enjoyed this video. What I believe stood out and I agree with is professionalism,. Definitely something to work on an aspire to. Good Job Knight
This was absolutely Fantabulous!!! Good on you Dave Jackson for getting out there with a driver and seeing a little of how it goes. To all the negative responders.... calm down. Dave didn't HAVE to do this, especially in his position, but he did, and that is the important part. How many out there can say they have had this pleasure? I think this was pretty awesome, and this here for me personally is the part of my reasons for wanting to join the Knight family. I'm truly hoping to make this a reality come April 2020 after I get everything in order with my current job, and at home. Kudos to you also Allen Reeder for being a pretty awesome Professional Truck Driver and Thank you for keeping America moving. Thanks to ALL Truckers out there for all you do. God Bless.
It just baffles the mind all these management members reached their position in the company without ever being a driver. My god itâs a trucking company
Why does that baffle you?
Knight Transportation ! I guess Cuase thatâs how it was done in the old days. Companyâs would premote within its own. Meaning the driver would get the first opportunity at a Dispach job . Kinda like paying your dues so to say
Knight Transportation huh....no reply Knight??
It should be baffle any trucking company that would put people that high up with no experience in the field to which theyâre going to run/manage/operate.
Thatâs majorly of all transportation companies. They hire college grads who manage the bottom line, they donât get payed to drive nor do they even want too. Ex military with logistic supply training get the management jobs. They donât want a drivers mentality in management because they would advocate too much for the driver!
Thank you Dave Jackson for riding with a driver. What an eye opener to see life as a Knight Driver. I hope this video brings understanding, happiness, and appreciation to all. Knight Transportation.
I just talked to my recruiter and i'm all in! I'm looking forward to my career with Knight!
" What you do everyday with a truck safely, there's a very small percentage of people that can do it.." đ€đŸ
Yeah. He is a incredible driver.
I've been a driver and a manager and I really appreciate your video. All companies should make as many employees as they can ride with the drivers day or night. It changes the drivers and managers forever. Thanks Knight.
We couldn't agree more! Have a great day Joe
Allan raises a valid point, even over here in Australia, how can we be veiwed as professionals drivers when we cannot even speak to one and other in a professional manner on the CB without the profaities and abuse.
Do truck drivers still use CB's the people I know who drive trucks use cell phones and head set now.
Ungodly people speaking ungodly things... Repent and trust in Jesus amen..
Oh no; bad words... Grow a spine or get out.
I work for post in Sydney Transport. I still wonder why they do not outfit our trucks with CB radios. I got my own short range I have written off on tax which helps me out but F me some of the crap that goes on... R2 channel is filled with absolute children polluting the airways with absolute garbage.
Good morning, truckers...my name is Hector, experienced driver for about 21 years. I posses a valid CDL class A license. Today is my very first day watching one of the best videos that i ever saw in all the years trucking, the quality, the experience and the knowledge of the manager trainers are excelent...i believe with that kind responsability in provide better technics to the drivers to improves the knowledge is incredible and amazing. My respect for their professional team....keep it up guys! Hector Velez
Outstanding Experience!!!!!
Management 101 - Treat your employees well and they will in turn treat your customers well, this is how we grow business. It is very heartening to see upper management take the time to genuinely engage an employee on his level. Thank you for an excellent video.
too bad driver managers dont think the same. Many new drivers will figure that out eventually.
another great video with Knight and a million mile driver vet.respect's from las vegas , nevada.
Thatâs cool of him to get more knowledge on trucking than those who sit in a cubicle and have no idea what weâre dealing with daily. I might join knight just cause of this
I wish every company did this; sending the high-ups to live the everyday life of employees. Great work Knight, you really are a model corporation. BTW Indiana Jack needs a pay increase! lol
Why don't you laminate a copy of the trailer files so they won't get damaged
I have such a high regard for Knight; applied there at buckeye years ago, but, as a woman, could only lift 80#, so I couldn't pass ur Endurance test. Keep up the great work!!! đđ
What a great informative video. I'm looking forward to many more. Seems Dave Jackson has Alots of respect for his drivers and other employees. This is what a great company is all about. One thing I do find is alot of management of other companies doesn't know what some of the other employees do. I think before you get a Mangerment job you have to work your way up the ladder. You will have more respect for your employees.
A good CEO - he has a lot on the plate ensuring the company runs and performs the way it should - he was kind to the drivers and I think wanted to really show that he cared.
Nice to see a CEO of a trucking company get "out and about" and see what your typical driver deals with on a day in day out basis..kudos to Dave Jackson for doing this..
It makes me smile to see such easy going road training with a company executive at that" I'm now considering knight after my schooling is over next month. Great video grandpa
Good job all around from Drivers prospective and from Managements. Innovation makes for a success with a team concept working together. More More. Stay safe Driver.
I'm not a trucker, but I have great respect for the drivers and the industry. These videos are a wonderful small insight into the world. You could truly make a reality show out of these!
The next time Dave hits the road, it should be in the winter and for 30 days straight during the holidays and experience the mandatory shutdowns, 34 hour resets and low amount of hours available on the clock to continue running.
Either way, like that the Big Cheese hit the road to kinda get an idea of what goes on. Loved that the original plans got scrapped. Something that happens all the time.
Then get off the road? Maybe?
Always good to see management get to know the backbone and the the little guy at the companies they own or operate.
I start Monday morning.. finished with orientation.. looking forward to driving.. leaving the corporate office world as an IT Director to go see the country.. can't believe how young David Jackson looks. :)
Colin Sevier I been thinking of leaving the teaching field to do the same thing......please update how you are getting along.
I'm an owner operator but if I wasn't Knight Transportation would be very attractive to me. Great video
Wow, thank you River Big. We appreciate that!
I was flipping through some channels and seen this CEO on a ride in the big truck. AWESOME,AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Respect from me!
Thanks for watching Carlos. Glad you enjoyed it.
I respect this CEO, viewing from Jamaica..
I watched the couple of these videos this is a very fine trucking company good drivers good equipment and good managers
I been watching these videos where the office workers get in the truck, that is so awesome, not seen that anywhere else,
So glad I chose knight Transportation just finished up my first year, have no desire to leave.
I love this little series you guys have done.
I'd love to see some kid getting mouthy with this guy then be like...oh by the way, I'm the CEO....woah man, sorry bro! haha
I really like what you guy do there at Knight. I test for my CDL Friday. Once I get my 1st year of OTR experience I'd love to have a cup of coffee with you folks. Keep up the good work and say hi to Indiana Jack for me.
I would love to work as a driver for this company. Ive seen many and by far, this company seems to be great to work for.... Well done Knight, well done
I enjoyed watching.
This is so positive in terms to their drivers. Speaks a lot and they get to experience and hopefully respect drivers a little more. Way to go Knight if I was just starting; I would definitely consider driving for Knight because of these ride along.
Thank you for the positive words. Take care out there.
I have much respect for Knights management after seeing these videos. Refreshing and heart warming!
Thank you for the wonderful comment. Glad you enjoy them. I wished we had time to capture all the ride along's.
Great man the director of your company and exemplars demonstrates to be competent and know the work of transport
As a retired trucking insurance adjuster for many years, this is a great video, it reminded me of the TV program Undercover Boss to a degree.
Thank you for watching
Wow! Cracking vid, good to see the CEO getting in on the action and not afraid to ask, do or try. This looks a great company that looks after it's people!
Thank you Marc - Dave is great leader for sure. Are you a trucker Marc?
Knight Transportation Unfortunately not, Iâve had an interest in trucks etc since I was a kid (Iâm 43) Iâve always had the thought, Iâd never pass the medical, but love seeing this type of video, trucks, shows etc.
I was owner opp and you have to have notarized paper proving you have been trained on braking settings and brake lines. Same as on wheel bearings. Electric light replacement when replacing light attachments. SEMPER FIDELIS
I'm glad the ride went as normal. Issues as normally arising . luckily its not winter right.
You have to give the CEO respect for taking the time and effort to do a ride along and try and help out when he could. To experience the drivers life.
Well done video and glad to see knight trying
I'm impressed!
Awesome video. Keep up all the great work knight transportation.đđđđ
Will do Rut thank you for watching!
When I Trucked for years the going joke on the CB was: QUESTION: Where do you hide your money from a

Very enjoyable video!! Well done. Thank you!
Thank you gentlemen. You have my respect!
Thank you.
It is like Undercover Boss!
Yes, there are a lot of similarities to Undercover Boss here.

THIS IS LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT I WANNA APPLY FOR A CAREER WITH THIS COMPANY I WILL SHOW THE SAME....
my sis drives been driving 20 years she has problems all the time with getting her pay from her company that's why she quits so much ...do better employers or you will lose great truck drivers ,,,,,love you sis....little dell...
Is she single?
I worked to knight and very nice company maybe someday I will go back to it. Respect đ
Give a call when you are ready. Have a great day Rimon
Every week, should pick one the executives and get down to basis, like warehouse jobs, drivers, mechanic and janitorial...If you are not capable of doing these jobs, you shouldn't be CEO or Boss or Manager, because you don't understand your employees, and what the do for the company. Just that simple. Forgot to mention, that week of " aha moment" with the same pay and benefits. I re-assured you, companies will take a second look and will improve tremendously. Good Luck!!
Great video. Very professional driver.
Allen is a incredible driver. Thank you for watching.
From a UK class 1 driver this is a breath of fresh air, well done to Knight, they look a great outfit
Thank you for the nice comment!
Watched few CZcams videos from this company and as Iâm working on getting my CDL, this made me interested in this company.
U r right mr ceo drivers should have to spend a day or two with dispatchers
Great seeing leadership out in the thick of it with their troops. Make America Great Again!!!!
And, yes, trucking is absolutely a skilled trade. Glad to see these men recognize it as such, and they take pride in what they do and take pride in their appearance. Respect to Knight.
qua tuyá»t. Æ°á»c gĂŹ ÄÆ°á»Łc lai xe ben do
We truly want to be the best we can be for all our drivers. Many ride-a-longs take place that are never filmed :)

This video made me want to be a driver for Knight some day!
That is great! When you're ready we will be here waiting for you.
That is hilarious! Ran over an Alligator in Los Angeles! Oh, that made my night! My boyfriend hit one some where years ago that same thing happened to him too. How did such a young guy get to be C.E.O.? Good for you! I really enjoy these videoâs.
Professional drivers all deserve 1 per mile . This job keeps families apart .
ilyaaz Bilal you are very right
Sydney Wooton Tnx
If brokers wouldn't pull "commission" out of load rates. Company's would pay you a dollar easily.
Yeah,Melissa is awesome,I never had a sleep apnea test would I need to pay a fee on this,it's part of dqp,it's not high lighted for me but it's part of what to expect column
I would like to work for that guy, seems pretty down to earth with the people working for him :)

Ciff THE man Some cloves Nice video
I have the exact same hunter orange camouflage phone case as Allen does! LOL!! Also, those onion rings looked yummy!! hehehe!!
Good job
Thank you Derrick. We appreciate you taking the time to watch?
The CEO used the term "Family" To describe this wonderful culture clearly borne out of sound leadership and a very ethical and experienced group of professional family members.
In describing the organisation, .. I would use: "CEO and out to the members" Not CEO and below. ...... Knight Transportation predictably will continue to grow and enjoy the fruits of their labor. ...... Congratulations from Australia.
Barry - Thank you for watching and taking the time to write to us. We are grateful for all our hard working family members.
Excellent one other thing I noticed in a lot of those videos of truckers is do we know where which truck is at the time too? I mean driving for the same Company shouldn't we also have some sort of a CORP safety agreement so when we part at truck stops we park next to each other to enhance security ? I think thinking BIG should include also BIG TEAM work. Also Vet's should have a label on their trucks or years of driving for this Company should be on the Truck marked so a rookie could walk over and ask for help knowing the other trucker has X amount of year on the belt already. This would strengthen TEAMS too.
Being able to park next to one another at locations other than company terminals is not always possible. Those place are open to the public and anyone can choice to park where they like. You will see tho that if it is optional in many cases out driving associates and other companies tend to park near one another naturally. As for the stickers who do have stickers for our retired military driving associates. As well as years of service! All great ideas ! Appreciate you taking the time to reach out. We look forward to hearing from you again.
Knight Transportation the trucking Company Maverick for example has the sticker for Veterans, UPS-SCS has that and for years and some even award truckers for accident free 10plus years and such. If I would be a rookie at your Company and I have loading issues for example at a dock I now would be able to ask an experienced driver just by looking at his cab I know how many years heâs working here. 2nd Leadership at them stations should teach teamwork because sometimes a new guy going to a terminal or customer has no idea but can ask an other team member whoâs been there before or like a company trucker guide what to do at what customer and which gas/ rest station or preferred routes to take. That helps truckers a ton and cost a company only pennies.
I've always wanted to be a truck driver, iam from India, can you help me please...nice video loved it.. it's good to experience what is really happening with the driver's on road, than to simply listen to what they say, cause seeing is believing..
Great series, I just don't understand how some of the management does not have an idea about their trucks. It's great that they are trying to understand now but wow. I expect a driver not knowing what a CEO daily work is because that would require moving up in the work force. Although if you are a CEO I would think you have an idea about the trucks and sacrifices your drivers make. Even in the military Officers and senior NCO's had knowledge of everything that goes on beneath them. It just seems like there is a disconnect. Good video though I learned a lot.
We learn a lot by going out with our drivers. Things happen we would never think to think about. Also, it is one thing to think/know about those sacrifices it is another to go out and experience them with the team. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and for your input, we really appreciate that.
I am not a truck driver but an engineer in the cellular smartphone industry. I have heard a lot of conversation on SiriusXM Channel 110 (Trucking Channel) about the upside and downside of E-Logs, trucking violations, trucking regulations and much more. I also heard about lots of wasted time for truckers waiting to get unloaded or loaded. In this video, the receiving dock did not have a record of the incoming shipment which I can imagine happens more often than it should so the driver and Knight Transportation CEO had to spend time to figuring out at the warehouse site about their load delivery instead of simply electronically being informed which dock they were to be unloading at when they arrived. There are a lot of proprietary hardware devices in the truck related to the truck safety, federal/state regulations for tracking truck/trailer/driver safety. In my opinion, the next step for the trucking industry is to have an electronic delivery information interface to the warehouses where they are picking up their loads or unloading their loads. What are thoughts about this? Newer versions of Dell computers can run Android applications so applications that can run on smartphones could very well be developed on Dell Computers with a regular keyboard.
Many companies are working on platforms like this actually. It is a matter of picking the winning platform and getting everyone on board with integration.
That's my driver leader Isaac..
You got a good load..well a heavy Gatorade one.. And where the heck did you find an empty trailer in Phoenix Arizona?..
đ
What do you guys think is the best most, versatile/fuel efficient, manual transmission truck for new drivers? I seen so many different brands in the parking lot.
It was interesting to see how other companies work. I've been driving food-grade tankers for the last 9 years and I suggested that our people from the office come out on the road to see "just what truckin is like". But no they want to be behind their desks.
I think they would find tons of value in coming out on the road with their drivers. Their takeaways would help improve the company.
I tried to tell them that when I was working in the office in 2011 when I was on "light-duty" after a fall off the top of a tanker. I loved talking to our other drivers on the phone. Helping them with issues I had.
