      Boks have played at 7 of the 9 Rugby World Cup tournaments, having been unable to compete in the first two tournaments due to a sports boycott during the apartheid era. Following the end of apartheid, they hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup and won the tournament, they were champions again at the 2007 tournament in France. The Springboks then made history when they beat England in the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan despite losing a pool stage match.

      @@AutumnNationsSeries Majority of the video was TMO replays and Referee debates - completely uninteresting in a highlight reel. In fact its ridiculous. The media has been trying to get us fans into the TMO drama since the 2015 WC. We're not interested, we want rugby footage not referee debates. All that happens is that people start noticing what the media is doing, and they start to get angry with the media. next time, put in rugby, ball in play, highlights. This was nobody's idea of highlights.

      @@vahorganthere were only 2 players who have been starters for France in the past year dumothier who played because villiere was injured and moefana whovplayed when danty was injured. It was still a good team as they showed in the magnificent 1st half but lacked cohesion, expérience and leadership when scotland started to fire back in the second half. Dulin is the eldest member of the french squad but he said himself that he had never been à captain since his junior years. It really showed at the very end of the game when he had to make choices and couldn't agree with his forwards, and that's what blew france's last chance to win this game.

      From a French, I really dislike all these C team comments to minimise Scottish victory :
      1) They produced a hell of good rugby and deserved the victory
      2) Yes, the French side was kind of a test side to rest international players from La Rochelle and Toulouse, but they all have the skills for such a game, just lacking playing habits together. So yes, maybe a B/C team but a very very strong one ! And there's not a huge difference in skills between the A team and the team that played last Saturday.
      3) I wish Scotland all the best for the RWC and hope that they will be THE black horse of this competition and get out of the "pool B of the death" with Ireland.

  • @ryanschultz4119
    @ryanschultz4119 Před 10 měsíci +4

    A great example of a veteran ladened Scottish team, who has played together for a time. Forcing France into playing their style of game. Slowing it down, using their physicality, to wear down the younger/faster France team. You could tangibly see the game's outlook change from the 1st half to the 2nd. And Scotland doing so a man down negates any talk of France playing a B team. Great comeback!

  •  Před 10 měsíci +23

      More importantly can the French “A” team beat the All Blacks in Pool A. Not sure why you need to bring up Pool C and D when it is completely irrelevant. Perhaps you have come to terms that you won’t be topping Pool A. All Blacks have hit form and for all the nonsense about France being the favourites, well the French are starting to look over their shoulders and this game showed that they are not really that good. I’m not sure if Scotland has ever beaten the All Blacks whether it was team A, B or C or even E.

      Or a Scottish 15 with plane tickets guaranteed took no chances with injuries against a french 15 with10 starting the game chasing a jersey at their home WC.
      We seen the following week both 1st XV go at it and France have paid dearly it seems with Ntamack missing the WC and won due to 2 missed conversions.
      THE only true test match with 1st choice squads so far in these warm ups and definitely the best 80 minutes we have seen.
      Just like Ireland v England yesterday no ones telling me Ireland were on full throttle either or they would surely have put 50 on a shadow of an England team.
      In the pool of death Scotland have the advantage of playing the Springboks 1st before theyve actually faced a real test, where as Ireland wont have faced a real test till they face the Springboks who by then will be either on a roll or needing a result.

    Gran partido con un tiempo de dominio para cada uno. Francia lo termina perdiendo principalmente por bajar la intensidad, en contraste de Escocia que salió a comerse la cancha en el segundo tiempo, pero también por dos horrores arbitrales. El primero es el try de Schoeman que hace 3 movimientos antes de apoyar, y ni el arbitro ni el TMO lo advierten (11:14) . Y el segundo horror fue al minuto 58´ del partido luego del try anulado de Kinghorne (por suerte para a Dulin) por nock-on previo de Graham. Ahí Ben O'Keefe iba a reanudar con scrum cuando el TMO le dice que había ventaja de penal previa al nock-on. Si miran la repetición van a ver que el penal fue después del mismo. Por que tanta importancia en este error arbitral? Porque de esta posesión que le dan a Escocia, tras algunos penales más termina en el try de Dave Cherry (min 12:20 ). Por como venía el partido quizás Escocia lo terminaba ganando igual, pero es innegable que el arbitraje los favoreció mas allá de la roja a Fagerson.

    It's a good start for the Scots. But lets keep the context because the fans and players were behaving as though it's the semi final of the WC. It's a pre-season warm-up game, against a 2nd / 3rd string French team and the Scots fielded a strong team and had already played a warm up game

    • @MrPoepope
      @MrPoepope Před 10 měsíci +7

      They won a big comeback being a man down for 35 mins. I think it's fair for them to celebrate. Nobody was acting like the 'semi of the world cup'. Yes it was the second 23 of France, but Scotland also played down a man for a decent period vs France in the 6N and very nearly came away with the victory at the death in Paris. Scotland basically fielded their second string team last week, most of these players were out for the first run out in months as well so aside from a few players most had no warm up before this, hence playing so poorly in the first half.

I saw the match and the highlights again and it felt like fans, players and commentators were getting carried away. I want Scotland to surprise people at this WC and to produce performances consistently, you need higher expectations as a team. You should be feeling relieved that you beat this French team after finding yourself in a losing position not thrilled. But that's just my take

    • @MrPoepope
      @MrPoepope Před 10 měsíci +4

      @@gurucartel3422 Interesting, felt nothing like that to me. Was at the match, and most of the chat afterwards was questioning how they managed to go down so drastically against a second string France, and the commentators were saying the same thing every two minutes on the Prime coverage when I rewatched--it was a constant 'don't forget this is France's second team'...'if Scotland show up like this in France they'll be going home early' etc. etc. I just think you're either off about supporters & Scots thinking this means anything more than a horrible first half and a good fight back against the second 23 of France or the coverage wherever you're located is very different to what it was here. Even after the match Toonie and Finn were talking about needing to improve a lot to have any chance of getting past the groups. But this happens all the time, other nations, especially the Irish for some weird reason, seem to somehow think Scotland are cocky, which makes me think they've clearly never met a Scottish supporter--biggest bunch of pessimists on Earth.

    Don't read anything into rwc warm up games. 🦌
    Why?
    It's often experimentation, it's unlikely these two teams in rwc will play it openly.
    Boks ave played at 7 of the 9 Rugby World Cup tournaments, having been unable to compete in the first two tournaments due to a sports boycott during the apartheid era. Following the end of apartheid, they hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup and won the tournament, they were champions again at the 2007 tournament in France. The Springboks then made history when they beat England in the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan despite losing a pool stage match.
    The Springboks are tied with the New Zealand All Blacks for tournament wins at the Rugby World Cup - both teams having won 3 times - although they have participated in fewer tournaments. In addition to this, they are the only rugby team to have won every World Cup final they have played in.

    France's first try was a forward pass from their 15 metre mark! Look at the passer's position - marked by the grass cut at 1:11 , - and then where the receiver collects it is 2.5-3 metres further forward!
    And Darcy Graham's try was definitely NOT one! On the slowmo the ball was bouncing back upwards as he brought his hand down, and his hand/wrist knocked the ball down and you can clearly see that there was an instant of no constant contact before his arm came down onto the ball. That is a knock-on!
