Calling shenanigans on the "no one here cause its 10am". Retired Fred was undoubtedly there and was being nice and left for your video. He had to pick up his meds from the Walgreens anyways. The doctor told him he shouldn't drink while taking his medication and to take a full glass of water, so only orders lite beer.

Used to play that for hours at a time with my aunts and uncles. I especially liked the variant where Jack of Diamonds means you're the picker's partner, but it's not known who has the card at first. Of course, sharp players usually figure it out pretty quick, or if the picker has the Jack and is playing it alone.

Love the video, but I have one correction for you on Ship, Captain, Crew. After getting your 6,5,4, if you roll snake eyes (two 1’s) that beats all. It’s also known as “ Rolling Tits in # of rolls”. The best is “Tits in 1”. After 21 yrs in the military and sitting in airport hangers for up to 12 hrs sometimes or the military’s famous “hurry up and wait” mentality, you find ways to pass the time. Always had a deck of cards, 5 dice and a crown bag of quarters. You should do a follow up on Liars Dice. That game can get heated (especially if you’re a good liar (or a better cheater)). Personally skilled at both.

With 0 dollars in my pocket I said sure, managed to win and got my free shots. Only 10 years later did I finally learn the rules lol

Reminds me of a dice game in the videogame Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I think called Farckle. Specifically a two-player competitive dice game, you need to rack up 4000+ points to win and there's 6 dice used at a time rather than 5. I'll list out the rules below, as best I can remember them.
    - 1's and 5's allow you to reserve that die with a corresponding 100 or 50 points respectively, followed by another roll of all remaining dice IF you want. 100/50 points isn't much so yeah you want to roll again, but you could stop and add that score to your total.
    - If you get three of a kind, it's 1000 points for three 1's, and then for 2-6 it's multiplied by 100 so 200 points for three 2's and 600 points for three 6's. Then, you can take the remaining dice and roll again while keeping the ones you selected to the side.
    - There is also strings of 5-6 dice. Either 1/2/3/4/5, or 2/3/4/5/6. Can't recall how much they're worth, but there's also 1-6 straight through. If you manage to use ALL your dice, all six, you can sum up the total of those points and either choose not to roll, or since rolling 6 die has a VERY high likelihood of providing at least one 1 or one 5 or three of a kind or a run or SOMETHING that would allow you to add some more points to the total, generally you roll all 6 if you get the opportunity. Doesn't happen often, but remember you can ALWAYS lose those points you're gambling.
    - If you roll, and there's no triples and no 1 or 5 and no 5-6 dice runs, meaning there's NO points to be had, you lose your turn AND any points you were gambling with and your opponent throws the dice next in the wooden cup. So, as Kenny Rogers says, "You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em." Take your points and choose not to throw, allow your opponent's turn to begin, and then your points are tallied to your total and from there you cannot lose them. You carry on the fight to be the first to 4000 points.
Oh and if you get 4-6 of a kind, it seems to keep doubling. So three 2's is only 200, but four 2's in one roll is 400 and five 2's is 800 and six 2's is 1600 if I'm not mistaken. And of course with 6 of a kind (which I don't know if I've EVER rolled that before), you can then roll all six dice again to add to that 1600, or if you want to be cautious (even though with 6 dice handy, you'd be pretty safe to roll again for some more points) you can choose NOT to roll and your score of 1600 goes permanently to your total. But this also means that, yeah, in theory you could luck-out and win on your very first through. I guess with five 1's, if I'm not mistaken about the rules, it doubles it from 1000 with three 1's, to 2000 (the game half won) with four 1's, to 4000 (the game won in one roll) with 5 1's. Six 6's would also give an estimated 4800 points, which is another one-throw game ender, but again I can't recall ever actually witnessing such a thing.
Pretty sure to see dice being thrown in a cup in the modern day, given the only other place I ever seen it besides 'Yahtzee' maybe is in that game Kingdom Come set in 1403 in the area of the modern day Czech Republic, where they recreate some ACTUAL historical sites in-game which can be visited in the real world, even if they've kinda fallen apart a bit and/or been paved-over or built-upon in the last 619 years.

Some people like games that are interesting, rather than simple games for simple people who just hope to luck-out and win bets. That's like drinking to get drunk, but some people like to drink to enjoy it and the drunkenness is just a bonus at the end.

the first game is similiar to one we play here in Canada, just called dice, Aces are 100, 5s are 50 and you want 3, 4 or 5 of a kind, five Aces is 1000 points.. you have to get 500 points to get 'on board' which means you get to start tallying your count n we can play to 10K or 20K depending on how many people and the time you have.. you get to keep rolling as long as you have an ace OR 5 or 3, 4, 5 of a kind n its up to you when you wanna stop.. get greedy and you can lose your the roll lol.. thanks for sharing your games with us.. appreciate it der guy.. much love from Canada eh, say Hi to your folks for me.. 😍
