I've seen some article titles talking about how Shadow's story will tie in with the original game. I'm not sure how, but maybe it'll be a Back to the Future 3 type situation where Shadow's been sent back and has to make sure the original game happens the way it did. I hadn't noticed the red effects but Infinite could be a good vehicle for that kind of story, and would make sense as a Shadow villain. I don't remember if the Ruby was destroyed at the end of Forces though, I'd have to go back and check.
Also, Infinite isn't a dingo, he's a jackal.
