I just bought my first printer last week and I'm having a lot of fun. I saw your reddit thread and then CZcams videos about a month ago and it helped nudge me into finally getting one. I bought an Ender3 Pro. And like you said, 3D printing isn't as easy as some people may think but it's also not as difficult either thanks to channels like yours. I've already printed out some mods for my printer (I made sure to understand why I needed them in the first place first). Now I'm finishing up something I've been modeling in Blender to print. Wish I got into all this earlier.

I love star wars and love marvel(but mostly star wars)
And I wonna make replicas for myself...
So I decided to also make money off it...I'm getting a ender 3 in a couple of days. And I'll be 3d printing lightsabers and my main goal is to make a full Mando suit. And make some other props like iron Man helmets,Thor hamor, captain America shield etc.
And my business is fair prices but it's not to much for a helmet and people will want them more when there cheaper so I can make money for my mam BC she's not that...money happy she regularly only had about £500 in bank before pay so this is a BIG hobby and helps my mam in the long run.

Nice one! Would the Ender be a good choice for versatility? Printing different things in different filaments? e.g wood looking flower vase, movie props etc? Want to get started and have a machine which gives good flexibility :)

You may want to look into the Creality cr-10 v3 for that level.

Do u realize that if everyone followed thru with this video series AND each made an ironman suit!?.... we'll be fulfilling Tony Stark's wish of having a suit or armor around the world!

I've used college and my friends 3d printers to make small trinkets before and its been fun. Now I'm in the position that I want my own printer to create more fun items and even some cosplay gear as well (exp. I would like to print a Mandalorian armor set for myself). Maybe even make a business out of it if I'm good enough.
I'm willing to put in the extra money to get a printer where I hope it will allow me the best quality prints and hopefully a large build printing space to do it. (Maybe like your CR 10s).
Overall what printer would you recommend for me that would fit my desires?
Side questions, which filament is best to start and test prints? I've used plastic and even silicon before. Eventually I would love to print in stronger materials like metal. (Maybe print my Mandalorian armor in metal as well).
Also which printer allows good software that after I download a file that I could go into and edit the print? (cut things out, adjust, or even make something myself).
Lot to ask I know but if you can help me out with starting that would be great!

      Trent Hendrickson okay and go!
      Creality CR-10S Pro V2 OR a CR-10MAX
      PLA+ or PETG
Metal printers are still astronomically expensive and can’t do things like that yet. You’ll need to cast them.
Slic3r and Meshmixer let you edit and manipulate.
Maya, blender, Meshmixer abd Zbrush let you actually edit

Hey Frank, great stuff but you really confused me when you said you're in the uk in another video! 🤣
I've recently started a build of a Mk45 suit, and I wondered how you decided on the scaling of each piece?

    • @FranklyBuilt
      @FranklyBuilt  Před 4 lety +1

Lol i live in the UK. I am American tho.
And I didn’t scale the parts. I printed everything at 100% scale. If you start to scale you will destroy the proportions and end up a bobble head haha

I want to build my helmet around a vr headset, how might I intergrate it if I don't have a 3d model of the vr headset? I'd need accurate measurements of it if I'm to model my helmet around it. Do I just have to buy a 1:1 3d model of the be headset to model the helmet around?

I've been following for a bit now. I think for about 6 or 7 months. I can't believe what a great job you did with Ironman, especially with no real experience. I had one of the original CR 10's but had some cash problem's and had to sell her with tears in my eye's. LOL. Anyway because of you I am going back into it and I hope I can do as good a job as you. I bought mine for a similar reason. I wanted to do some cosplay stuff. I am still having some small cash issues so I am buying an Ender 3. I hear nothing but great things about it. My biggest concern is slicing bigger prints up so I can print them on the Ender. Is that easy? I can honestly say I make things harder than they are and I get super stressed. LOL Also I saw one of your videos and I can't remember which one so I'm going to ask. You had a spacer or something on either one or both of the motors. I can't seem to find it anywhere if you don't mind would you tell me? Thank you so much, and thank you for sharing everything with everyone you should be incredibly proud of what you accomplished. Thanks again.

Robert Wagner dude thank you so much. Your support has been awesome! Really! I’m happy to help everyone and the community has been amazing!
Slicing isn’t too hard. Just takes practice! That will be covered in another video soon!

I just got into 3d printing so before I watched the video I got myself a old flash forge printer will that work as well for stuff like this or should I get a creality ender 3 the flash forge I have has less build volume then the ender 3?
