Nice shelter. I built this kind of shelter in Malaysia commando course. To avoid the flooding water
Corporal as much as you like the coffee, have you ever tried Brewtal Awakening by Blackout coffees, I made my Brewtal Awakening Coffee in a Gator French press and believe me a cup of that will have you on high alert.
Awesome AF video as always.
Are you going to do more with overnight Shack In The Woods and Fort In The Woods and others?
Have you checked out the Yakut knife? I’d be interested to get your take on just how much you could build using its design
So, u think your arms are bigger than mine??? Ha. Liked the elevation video! Commenting bc I have the same instant coffee...on grid
Since I'm having a crappy Monday at work, I've decided to watch Corporals Corner for the rest of the day. Take THAT CZcams. Maybe watching bushcraft videos will eventually get the makeup influencers off my recommended videos list.
:D same. here's hoping.
Looking good 👍
I'm liking that 👍
Wife : What are you doing ?
Me : "IM BUSY!" (Watching a grown ass man build a tree fort in the woods.) 🔥
Same! Except it's the other way around. My bf is the one asking 😂
I am watching alone👍😆❤️
"A Marine doesn't drink coffee.
Finding and boiling water is a waste of time. A true Marine pours the coffee packet in his mouth, and chews while he marches."
JACK S. USMC. 1941-1946
WhooAhh
😂😂😂
I did that once on a night hump back to mainside. I’ve never been drunker!!! YUT!!!
Oorah
I believe that when Corporal is finished teaching his future grandchildren, they will be able to build the coolest forts that any kids in town have ever seen.
Except their friends will never build forts except on video games.
smile. first a coffee. no coffie-no workie
Really liking the talk about the tools and equipment you use, not overly detailed but a good vote of confidence from you is really helpful.
When I was at 29 Palms 🌴 , the CO thought it would be funny to play 🎵 The Lady From 29 Palms 🎵 for Reveille for a month straight. Twenty-four years later, and I still got that damn song in my head. 😂 Oh, the memories!
Have a bud that when though desert survival training, he said they put them in a fence in place that they just run a hundred plus men week after week. The land was over grazed. 🤣
Still the man. Still has the warm heart. Still reinventing himself. Still bringing fresh fun content. If this guy was knitting a sweater or reading the newspaper he'd find a way of catching my interest. Best wishes chasing the 1/2 million subs my man. G.O.A.T
I spent 40 years building log and timber frame structures. Here's a tip about saws and axes. Sharpening a saw, getting the teeth reset and sharpening is a lengthy process and requires you to carry more tools for that job. Tree bark collects dust that can be powdered rock. It can even contain small pebbles. Even a Silky saw will get dull really fast. before you take saw to ANY piece of wood, use your axe to remove the bark where you want to cut. Axes are a lot easier to sharpen.
I don’t think that thin bark on those small trees and branches will matter. He ain’t sawing logs. Big waste of time
Just want to say thank you for not cussing in your videos..... my 7 year old loves watching your videos with me, and finding youtubers who aren't dropping the F bomb in every sentence is difficult.
😂😂😂
Great video . Believe me you don't want to end up like rich piano
He is a rare breed of Teufel Hunden that doesn't curse in mixed company. RAH!
He literally said badasserey in the first minute😭
All young people should watch this stuff. You have some great ideas.✌️👍💪❤️🇨🇦
Nice...looking forward to seeing the whole series. I was camping on my dad's off grid land the first time after he passed away, and it had a lot of bears around from the garbage not being taken care of. I used my tie down straps from my trunk as high as I could get them, and then used the random plywood he had around to make a platform on top of it. Put the tent up there, and now I'm obsessed with perfecting a raised sleeping area for camping. It just feels so much safer for a lone woman in the woods.
I just had a thought... he’s in the same wooded area and is just building a bushcraft subdivision. At least there’s no HOA to deal with. Yet.
am in the same state
😂😂😂😂
Being former military I can appreciate the military nuances. I wasn't USMC, I was USN Seabees which worked closely along side USMC units. Awesome vids, thank you.
oh dear me! This woman is addicted to watching your videos.. be still my frickin beating heart! I am smiling !
The way you did that ladder was very clever indeed I'll remember that. Outstanding.
Another outstanding show from the master of bushcrafting corporal's corner
I started watching because my son suggested your channel. I am 76 so no chance of me getting there but I appreciate your hard work and your service to this country!
Your straight faced wit and humour cracks me up mate 😂 and nice Rich Piana reference 👍🏻 what a legend
We are watching the steady building of the machine designed to take on Everest. Kelly, keep chopping that wood!
Except for the onion, that sandwich looks delicious!
Herbert Broughton I was going to say something along those lines too, but to each his own. The last few days have reminded me of the wisdom of no afflicting others with my opinion. I'd be willing to bet he is thankful that we won't be causing any onion shortages in the near eternity.😂
I’d switch to a yellow onion because I don’t like reds. But, I liked the meal over all. Made me hungry, lol.
Shawn, I have watched you for the last decade and learned so much. And I don't mean in quantity. The best thing is how you simplify these larger projects aimed at smoothing it, into a few simple techniques that can be applied across the board. These refreshers on gear will be awesome for newer viewers.
As someone who was along for the journey on this channel, I would love to hear more details on how long your food ingredients keep in your pack each time you make something. Maybe even how you store them for longer trips. My goal is to improve my culinary skill to Corporal level this year, but I worry about food spoiling if I go out for more than 72 hours.
I like the idea of being above the ground, for water and critter reasons. Interested to see how you get heat up there.
OH, and I'm glad you followed, "round the outside" with another, "round the outside"... I'm sure there would be a penalty or fine for missing that joke 👍
Another great video idea! I Got the Rangergrip for Festivus this year. I got the 79 which has the corkscrew instead of the phillips screwdriver. I never had a lot of interest in Victorinox until I saw the 78 you use. Its a great folder thats a perfect size. The saw is also excellent for a small saw. Thanks for providing excellent AF content week after week.
Said it before say it again best show on CZcams Outstanding AF!
There is alot of work involved here but the construction techniques can apply to many projects. It's fun watching people doing this stuff as I prepare myself for my first year. Great dirt time
I grew up in a military family so I love watching your videos and learning all that I can. Some of my earliest memories was camping with my dad and building shelters. Thanks for all the info. you give you never know when it will come in handy. Also, would love to see a video on nothing but your knot making like to learn more of those.....deb
Can’t wait to see what this fort becomes by the end of the series
Thank you so much for being consistent and teaching the ways. 👍🙏🇺🇸
Corporal Kelly, I am not a super experienced bush-Crafter but if you need put a point on a stick after the first section of material is removed rotate the stick 90 degrees rather than 180 degrees. That way you are not expending energy cutting through the full thickness of your stick a second time. I find it faster top. Again, a suggestion, not criticism, from a 66 year old that has made many thousand tent pegs but still struggles with bow drill fires.
Well we’re living in scary times right now. And I am very grateful and thankful that I don’t have to run to the woods because I am already in the woods. I am 100 miles from any major city. Thank God. Now I know why I was led to where I’m at. And I am very grateful
CPL Kelly! You eat better in the woods than most people eat at home! Love the vids!
Side note in historical builds they sometimes charred the surface on wood that goes into the ground, probably to avoid the wood from rotting away. For a build like this just rotate the parts of the logs that goes into the ground over a fire and they will last a lot longer. Side note thanks for the nice videos :)
Can’t wait to see the finished shelter!!! Sounds like it’s going to be amazing. At the state of our nation right now I think I’m going to build a tree shelter & move into the woods by myself..🤣
I love that your always thinking outside the box. Always something new. There are so many that just do the same old boring things. Keep up the great work brother.
First comment on a Corporals video?!? My life is complete...
Lol get r done man😊
😂😂😂
Look at you go!!!
That’s sad af😂
Outstanding👍
Big boy tree house. I love it!!! Tarzan Corporal style.
We used to build these when I was a kid. We had to, the ground was kind of swampy much of the time and wasn't fit for anything low. We'd never heard of bank line, we used nails and baling wire. We'd pick up Coke bottles and trade them at the store for nails. Between school, homework, short days and lack of nails, it might take us a week or two to accomplish what you did in a day. You have one other huge advantage, we weren't allowed to play with fire.
Thanks for the memories.
You're never too old to enjoy a good tree fort!
I'm loving what I'm going to see in 2021 on this channel
I agree, I'd rather see you using the gear in the videos instead of dedicated gear reviews. Short concise descriptions of gear in your video's should be good enough.
Yes.
I've been watching your videos for at least two years. One of the things I like the most about them is the way you don't focus on the gear. You show what to do and how to do it. You have always told us the where gear is available if we want it. I have always considered your approach to videos to be much more mature and sophisticated than most other utubers. (Bad jokes notwithstanding) Don't change too much now that others are catching on. Certainly grow and develop as a presenter, and as a teacher. But remember your roots. Be you, and do it your way. You can see that it pays off.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup, that is the most comforting of comfort food. Outstanding!
You need to put out a "Corporal's Cookbook"
Me: How many bacon recipes can there be?
Corporal: Hold my bacon flavored beer
I like this build with the technology to level the floor and the technology to make the latter, good stuff. I have not yet seen this before out in any video’s out in T.V. or You tube.
Outstanding A.F. Corporal
ROPE TAPE!!! Haven't seen that since my days as a kid. Illinois Power, the utility company, used that stuff for all kinds of work. We managed to snag a whole spool from them that they were throwing off of an old truck. It made for many an awesome fort in the woods behind our house. Loved seeing you use a cool, less frequently used, type of cordage. 👍
I had steak, fries, sautéed mushrooms and steamed beans while watching. That STILL made me hungry!
Can't wait to see the rest!
Ya know the corporal is roughing it...when he has no bacon! LOL Cheers from Winnipeg.
I don't know if I can continue watching these videos if there is going to be a lack of bacon. lol
there was ham so........
@@recall5811 Ham is not Bacon. Don't lie to yourself. Ham is good but not as good. Plus Go Navy. I got to camp on an aircraft carrier for 4 years.
nothing beats a nice warm meal after spending all day in the woods
You had me right there with you on that sandwich. UNTIL... That slab of tomato went on there...LOL we won't even talk about that soup... Great build Sir.
Such a great way to enjoy life.
Sometimes it's the simple things that make me most happy.
Love your content
“Your mom” part of the free comedy on Corporals Corner 2021
Another Sunday afternoon with the Corporal! He works and teaches and I sit in front of a gas fireplace and guzzle hot chocolate and dream manly dreams. Please keep the videos coming!
Thanks again Corporal, for taking me out in the woods where I can think things over. Finish my day every Sunday with your latest adventure.
Outstanding AF.
Very cool tree fort sir
My 7 year old daughter just specifically asked unprompted if we could watch Corporals Corner’s treehouse vid. Keep up the good work.
A treehouse with a fireplace? What an awesome idea!
You and Survival Russia both uploaded raised platform videos on the same day, today is a good day. I got all the time in the world for bushcraft videos, ill watch em both idgaf hahaha.
He’s a good dude
@@recall5811 So are you
You are the coolest white dude on CZcams! I love your videos... I never wanted to be out in these bush and woods until your videos. Now I want to try it..
Why bring race to anything tho
Someone always has to.....
Don't recall many Moms in 29, but then again, I was maybe three. Do miss Joshua Tree NM, though. Thanks again for another outstanding build. : )
One thing I like about the gear pass over that you do, the gear looks well used and well maintained. Some youtubers gear always look brand new and it makes you wonder how often do they really use it? We can tell that you've used your gear multiple times.
They don’t yet they are the top tubers
I need to practice my lashing... I like the videos where you build things.
In the event of inclement weather, can a person create a "tent" using a tarp over the platform to keep it dry? Love the education and video's....may become our survival soon
Thanks again Corporal. Amazing how fast a channel will fall out of your feed. Keep ‘em coming. Thanks.
Please don't stop your channel. I just found you on here. And I enjoy it. I am learning somethings different. Please keep pushing forward. But if you must stop. I understand. I want you to know I appreciate you
+1 for the Slim Shady reference.
Yes please split it up that sounds good I apologize I've been watching your videos recently I went under I had covid
I loved the new approach with this video. When I first started out I looked to you and your gear reviews to point me in the right direction of what to buy. My motto has been "if its good enough for corporal its good enough for me." That being said a long 15 min gear review isn't needed. What you did in this video was awesome. Just spending 2-3 minutes talking about the gear you're using and why you chose it was perfect. 2021 is going to be outstanding.
Cpl. Kelly......this build is gonna be awesome ......your a genius !......You are getting buff master teacher !....Ya know every time you cook a gourmet meal it makes me hungry.....lol...God Bless
Happy New Year from the UK Shawn..missing the bacon though mate
Great channel. Been watching for while. Content keeps getting more and more interesting. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it. Learning a lot from your videos. How much does your loaded pack weigh minus food ?
Looking forward to the series. Enjoying the straightforward instruction. Thanks for your planning and delivery.
Thinning the forest.
Giving nature a helping hand.👍👍
When's the Corprals Cook Book coming out ? Lol
Awesome Corporal, did you forget the bacon??
I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite builds to date.
I love watching these again.
Another outstanding video! Can you include some tree identification in some of your videos?
I swear there are people who thumbs down CZcams videos just to be dicks. How anyone could dislike this is beyond me.
fans of top tubers
I thought the same thing!!!!🤣
@@recall5811 to be honest. I don't know that I believe the metrics that yt give you. Fb and yt have been caught manipulating data in the past.
Round the outside, round the outside. Obviously another reference to the moms you encountered in 29 palms.
Outstanding AF!
Mnm
Lovin the tree fort ideas, something you can go back to and re-use for a couple of seasons
What a coincidence. I just watched Lars G. at Survival Russia build an elevated platform. However, his was triangular, no cordage, no hardware... primitive native technique.
Ya he’s a good dude
29 Palms has lots of Moms
You're already the Dennis Miller of bushcraft with the pop culture references and jokes.
I let the corporal Kelly videos run all day and I'm learning lots of stuff. I'm like a sponge. This channel and David Canterbury and the grey beard green beret are my favorites.
I’m going to have to stop watching this channel with my 4 year old son 😂😁😂. My Son- Dad he built his tree house in 30 minutes 😆🤣😂
New for 2021.. mom jokes! Haha
This man is killing me 😂 a radical , a cook and a bloody inspiration- I just came out of the woods found an abounded expensive tarp , stainless steel cooker and a foldable box near a creek - now I eat a hot soup watching the corporal 🤗 I love learning 🥳
2:08 nice slice on the thumb there, Corporal. "Are you hurt, or are you injured?", carry on.
What becomes of the forts you build. Do they get dismantled or are they still up so that you can use at some other time?
This new "fort" could easily turn into a hunting blind if there is a game trail nearby.
What a great question I'd like to know that too! Does he just have them by the dozens in all directions for the future apocalypse or what lol
can someone tell me what knot he dose here ??
btw great vid
Highly recommend learning "Top Survival knots"
it is a very important aspect and you have to learn hands on. Get a piece of rope to tie around your waist and learn by challenging yourself.
2021 the year of badass projects...I like that, keep them coming! Even lunch was served at time. Perfect!
Just amazing! Love the format change with the brief intro on tools and materials. Had no idea there was different types of bank line. Thank you !!
From the perspective of a Building Codes Officer this is a fail. From the perspective of a ten year old boy its Awesome!!!!
Just needs additional bracing.
Love the axe, however, everytime I want to purchase anything off your recommended sites,...most of the items are sold out, not in stock, etc.
Cuz I sell them out
Excited AF, this is gonna be a great year of videos, love the start and I'm looking forward to the rest. Go hard my good man!
Might sound lame but I love hearing all the blue jays you capture in most videos.
