That AirBerlin 737! The way it was swaying back and forth I thought it might crash. I bet the passengers weren't feeling well after that.

Omigosh my stomach hit the floor!! Many times. What a great vantage point and it sure does look like some VERY hairy landings. And for the people who say 'ah, it's nothing' YES IT IS!!! I still have white knuckles from hanging onto my chair just watching this!!!! o_O lol

The roll on the Air Berlin at 10:36 was a bit much. I'm sure the passengers were glad to be on ground.
i think it was actually great skill to do that, if you notice the landing was nailed on the spot, .... ! he knew what he was doing and sailing the plane - it was always being under control and deliberately swinging with the wind!

Why can't any flights I ever go on have landings like these. If must be fun to be in this cabin.... Terrifyingly fun...
Gee these guys need to come to Wellington and see what crosswind landing is all about. Those trees are hardly moving.
+isopath1 The problem its not just the crosswinds, in this island you have a small runnway, if you not handle the crosswinds quickly you probablly crash in the water in a matter of seconds, in fact due to the high rate of crash landings in this runway they have extended the runway but still short for a safe aproach.
+Ricardo Cassamá you have obviously zero idea of Wellington airport. If you get a map of New Zealand on Google Earth you will see the south end of the runway has no shelter from any winds from the south. In fact it is exposed to the winds from the antarctic and because it is on the very south of the North Island there is water at both ends of the runway. To get a day where there is no wind at all is very rare as there usually wind from some quarter and it's often very very strong.
Isopath1 im not saying that Wellingnton its not a dangerous airport! Im just saying that this airport in our island of Madeira its one of the dangerous airports in the world because the crosswinds there is common to see, and together with the short runnway that are currently extend and supported by pillars over the sea make this airport one of the fews airport that only expert pilots dare to land there, but its not my intention say that wellington was a soft airport than this.

The Boeing 737 airplanes seem much more unstable in a crosswind than the Airbuses. I wonder if it is just a co-incidence!

Interesting because I thought some of the A320 approaches were unstable and one of the condor ones looked like it was going to flip over. Nonetheless It's hard to fight Mother Nature and good job by the pilots.
Pilot737_Sanchez I think what it is that the a320's flight computer has safety features that prevent the plane becoming unstable while on approach. The 737's don't have this.
