Stationed there, Air Force Security Police,18 months, late 1960s. Many, many take-offs landings with wind speeds 40, 60, 80+ mph. Fire engines frequently foamed the runways...Thanks to incredible pilots, flight crews, support personnel, no crashes!! 👍

I love planes and the pilots that operate them but don’t get me wrong. When they hover over the ground then take off, it reminds me of bugs that hover over something they are unsure about then take off 😂. I swear it comes to mind seeing these planes haha

The problem is that the real turbulence comes just before touching ground as wind is coming from below. Very hard to calculate for the pilots. Massive respect!!🫡
