- If you're an experienced Diablo player, this is nothing new to you.
But, with a brand new title on our hands - this video is something I've wanted to make for newer players who are looking to speed up their gameplay a bit.
If you're just getting into movement, don't feel overwhelmed at the start. The process is actually very simple, once you practice it. Orb walking and improving your movement efficiency is something that will increase your DPS output and survivability a ton more than stats ever will.
TIMESTAMPS
0:00 - 2:55 - Orb Walking (Kiting)
2:56 - 4:22 - Force Move
4:23 - 6:33 - Positioning - Hry
This actually super helpful. I've seen a lot of streamers do the orb walking thing and no one explained it.
Thank you. This is great. I didn't know about it and always had to try and click those small enemies perfectly.
Yeah, you're right. I just looked and Force Move is unbound by default. I wasn't familiar with orb walking, but having played Diablo since D1 I've been heavily abusing Hold Position to make sure I don't walk into packs when I want to shoot them from range.
So all in all another very helpful video, thanks!
this is a game changer. thanks dude. changed my gameplay ten fold.
Thank you for making this video in the context of Diablo 4! Although we don’t talk about our league of legends days, it’s still nice to have the orb walk muscle memory for HC haha
This is it. This is the video that made me finally Sub up. League terminology gets me every time.
HAHAHA I love it. That's awesome.
great tips!
I like having force move to space bar and scroll up for the evade, felt intuitive cause your character is literally rolling in the direction as you roll your mouse wheel
informative video and as someone new to the genre/franchise, getting up to speed has been a struggle. At LVL28 on a Rogue build of questionable Skill Tree implementation, I am just starting to understand the best attack techniques for the abilities I have chosen. I really wish all people that put build specs up also included a generalized version of how those skills are best used. "1) Perimeter attacks to agro mob 2) kite mob into circles 3) enter middle of mob, cast poison trap and then cast orb defense 4) melee while stun in effect [2 secs] then use B button (XBox controller on PC) to exit mob 5) implement Dash to finish off remaining boss(es), rinse and repeat. I still do not fully understand what all my individual skills/abilities/powers do, how they scale (additional effects), etc. and wish there were more videos like this one and the one I have linked to following as it is one of the very few that go over the ind. skills although doesn't really discuss potential combat strats with each. One I use with the poison trap is to make sure I cast it in as narrow an area as possible to funnel all mobs through it/them. Cast them as often as you can as even if they aren't triggered now, one can typ kite the next mob back to it so I always try and leave one as a bailout defense. Most of what I see/read is on builds that do nuclear damage and clear the screen in one hit. Not interested in that but do want to make sure I am maximizing the effectiveness of each class. A Wish List item for sure but for all the "META Build" vids, I'd rather focus on specific combat strats for each class. Give me a shoutout when those vids top your engagement stats!
Heh, I didn't know you could stand still -- I'm going to look into it for sure on my rogue. Thanks!
Thx a lot :)
great videos man, can you make an updated pen shot build now that edgemaster is back? how it compares to your barrage build?
I’d like to see the rest of the paragon board also
It's in the works :)
i am curious why do you click before attacking to than click back to create distance?
Isn't it more efficient if you Force Attack from where you are click backwards and force attack again to click backwards again? Rinse and repeat you safe like 1 click where you can miss you even safe time to target the enemy you wanna attack with your range attack.
Thought it might be more efficient i do it that way and especially with the Rouge with Puncture ect it is quite benefitial to force attack and than step away for Kiting mobs.
Oh are you referring to when I gave the slow mo example? I guess I didn't explain it right, because that is what I do.
I put my mouse towards the enemy force attack, click back, repeat. The extra input isn't needed.
I'm going to pin this comment for visibility, thank you kleriker.
Not sure what Orb Walking name originated from. I thought this is called Stutter Stepping.
Also binding Force Move to the wheel is interesting. I've been having a lot of annoying moments when I accidently break my stealth with a basic attack.
Thank you for pointing this out LamePunPond (love the name btw hahaha).
Yeah a lot of people prefer binding Force Move to scroll wheel up and down, because it's a more rapid-accurate movement.
But, it's all up to your preference. For me, I actually like to zoom in at times for immersion sake and find scroll wheel up and down feels awkward (For me)
@@Valuedx Yeah.. I like zooming too, so I bind it to clicking the wheel instead of scrolling. Still a little awkward, since I can accidently zoom in while force moving. I will have to find the sweet keybind spot that I won't forget to press.
orb walking was the term used in war3 dota, there were "on attack effects" known as orbs. You could animation cancel the attack for faster attacking.
Idk how u don’t have 100k subs!
Haha because I'm very new! The success so far has been awesome :)
Love the tutorial style videos. I know you are a mouse player, but any pointers for controller folk? Been loving playing couch coop with my wife.
I used to have Force Move bound to the Mouse Wheel (scrolling) in D3, but I haven't managed to get it to bind in D4. Am I missing something?
I’ve been committed to your build since level 55 or so, and I’m loving it so far but I’m on controller. Is this build not gonna work as well late game for me? Would a twisting blades build be easier or something without a need to orb walk? Or is this still viable you think for controllers.
I feel you, bro. I find that to do with a stick and I have the same end game where mobs are faster and a whole bunch. However I have seen another video incorporating shadow trap with pen shot. It pulls all the mobs as a bunch, gives you distance from and easier pen shot target
Does anyone have advice for how to space mobs and kite on console? I started D4 on PC M&K but have since had to switch to PS5 and the game plays great with a controller EXCEPT the fact I feel as though I can barely kite anymore on Pen Shot Rogue. Thanks
How do you walk slowly with mouse and keyboard?
Does this apply to controller?
I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused on what Orb Walking is exactly. @4:41 you show what a typical player does compared to what you do, but for me it looks like the same thing, just faster? But your explanation makes it seem like it's something else entirely.
Orb walking? Must be a War3 dota player... man of culture.
Alkaizer does this so well that it amazes me that he plays pve games
Since when is stutterstepping called orbwalking? never heard the orbwalking term :o not that it really matters what its called :D
Back in my day, we called this stutterstep.
I think you're right, I've always known it as orb walking but that comes from other titles like league of legends/lost ark. Stutter stepping is more true to the point.
@@Valuedx I think I picked it up in Starcraft where it's mandatory or else your marines just die. Same thing, I just wondered where "orb walking" came from as I've never played league.
Btw, great guides on this channel, they've been helpful.. loving the penetrating shot build
Didn’t know before I bought this on pc that wasd wasn’t a thing.
I play on Playstation, but I could see myself struggling with something like that on pc
I was surprised to see the title that you can orb walk but you can’t actually cancel the animation it’s entirely just attack speed based unlike orb walking where you are canceling ending lag on the animation (not possible in diablo 4) tl;dr orb walking is canceling end lag > not possible in d4 entirely attack speed based (some skills with no attack speed scaling so you’re locked in the animation )
I think more accurately this would be called 'stutterstepping' as comments have pointed out, I just know it as Orb walking from other titles - referring to making my movements more efficient and getting closer to a 'glide' but you are right, by definition orb walking would more accurately refer to canceling animations as done in league for example.
After watching this video I'm so glad I use a controller
Ok cool but could you pls show your build i would like to try
Jeez, moving and attacking at leaat with a Rogue is so much easier with a controller.
I've never used one with a PC. In what ways is it easier?
@jonesRDH hmm, I'm playing on Series X, I think moving and attacking in so much more fluid with the controller. I can just hold the attack button and walk to any direction with the analog.
@@WillNunes5 controller is crazy with pen shot! R3 block target! amazing!
Can you link me ur build?
good tips but you dont need them at all.
But it looks so much more stylish and professional when you orb walk and animation cancelling.
You absolutely don't need to do all of these. But I think it's nice for everyone to know the options available to them :)
Ok but where build guide 🧐?
