‘The Lonely One’ was released on september 2nd 2000, as one of the tracks on the album "Who Needs Guitars Anyway?". The song hit the #16 spot in the Official UK Top 40, #19 in the Official Dutch Top 40 and Top 10 in Scandinavia.
This video was shot in Moscow and made by the then still unknown director Olaf van Gerwen who is also responsible for the Alice Deejay “Better Off Alone” video. Olaf since then has won numerous awards and has shot over 500+ commercials in 30+ countries, for companies like McDonalds, Pepsi and Nike.

That carefree, optimistic spirit of the 90s will stay as a poignant reminder of a lost zeitgeist, one where the world felt smaller, simpler, and overwhelmingly more hopeful.
While I couldn't agree more about those feelings, it might be good to notice that it is mostly all about feelings and the situation of personal life - very little about anything factual about the world.
World had at least as much problems in those times, and has bettered very, very, very much ever since. It was just the time when we, personally, were young, with limitless life and possibilities seeming to be ahead and without too much personal responsibilities, health issues, daily life challenges, etc. and the "world problems" not personally applying to our lives, just like they are nowadays not applying most of the today's youth (sure there are suffering young as there were in our youth, they are and were just minority, majority not affected in significant scale, and even those affected tend to remember old times as better).
And no, I'm not implying there wouldn't be lots, lots of things gone worse since those times. Just about overall picture, and that our feelings are based on the situation of personal lives and basically everyone of every age and era do feel the same golden nostalgia. Especially I do, at least 😂

In my opinion, the most trance oriented song Alice deejay ever did, very underrated. Less pop more deep emotional trance with uplifting beats, shame she disappeared. I imagine she would be similar to how ABOVE AND BEYOND are today.
