- Former President Bill Clinton sat down with THV11's Craig O'Neill to chat about Arkansas politics, the conflict in Ukraine, and the Clinton School of Public Service.

I met him in 1975 or 1976 working as a “soda jerk” in a small town Arkansas pharmacy. He came in all by himself, shook my hand and asked me to vote for him. I was 17 and the voting age was lowered just in time for me to vote for him for Attorney General. Jimmy Carter was also on the ballot for President. They both won. Bill is a good man who made a mistake. He always cared about this country and her people and he’s never stopped. He loves Hillary the most, I’m glad they made it through all of it and I read that Monica voted for Hillary in 2016.

The interview was extremely interesting when Clinton talked about his interactions with Putin. Actually, Clinton was mentioned by name in Putin’s february 21 speech.
Putin asked Clinton back in 2000 how the US would feel about Russia becoming a member of NATO. Clinton’s reaction was supposedly pretty restrained. There was a missed opportunity to ask Clinton about this.

He wrote in his book that he asked a voter if he ran again would the man vote for him. They guy said “yeah, I reckon you’ve learned your lesson. He lost in 1980 but won the next time. Best Governor Arkansas ever had, my late father in law knew him well and Bill sent a letter to the family with his condolences when Paw passed away, he didn’t forget his friends and tried to work for people who hated him.

Growing up as a kid my parents loved Bill. As I get older and am now in my 30's I can see why they liked him so much because he was a FAIR man and treated other countries very fairly too. Bill you continue to make our country look good. THANK YOU

Love this Guy...Great inspiration.
First he says the south turned red because they were paying too much attention to national politics that doesnt affect them instead of the more relevant state politics, but at the end he says people in the south should be more connected to national politics.
In the beginning, he was not saying the people shouldn't pay attention to national issues, but that the people were basing their votes too much on issues that do not affect them. At the end his point was that people should engage and understand what's going on in Washington, and he hoped the Clinton Presidential Center could help achieve that goal. At the end, he was also saying that much of the tribalism is based on false beliefs.
