I think what outraged her was the fact that he lied to her, and she publicly defended his initial story. As you say, she knew about his proclivities (even before they married), but the ground rules were that he would level with her. He initially pretended that Monica was just a star struck kid who had developed an obsession with him that he had done nothing to encourage.
It's safer for their integrity to play up the one scandal rather than having to admit to a long list of affairs and expose an open marriage that's more like a business arrangement. How she ever thought she'd be a good Presidential candidate is surreal, people can see through a façade like this.

Even after watching “Impeachment” and the A&E documentary “The Clinton Affair”, I still can’t understand how he and Monica carried on right under everyone’s nose in The White House. How did an intern prance in and out of the Oval Office that often without it being so obvious? It’s apparent his secretary covered for them.
Well, it was obvious enough that she lost her job at the White House and was moved to the Pentagon. She was moved specifically because people thought Lewinsky was spending too much time with the President.

Because this wasn't really a new thing. Many, if not most, presidents have been cheating on their wives in the White House since the White House was built. He was just the first one to get shit for it for purely political motives.

I know there are many other presidents who have cheated on their wives and still remain with them until death do them apart. My household was very toxic. It wasn’t until I was older that I found out why she was so mean. I had a hard time trusting men, still do.

When I was a teenager, I started to feel disgusted about the concept of marriage because I saw hypocrisy and superficiality everywhere. What really ticked me off was women putting up with their husband's affair if they got a gift in return. For example, there was this guy who humped a woman in the middle of a bar. Out of the sight of others, there was a wooden cabin in the bar, styled to look like a boat's wheelhouse. Inebriated as he was, he forgot that the cabin wasn't soundproof. A few days later, the guy's wife was strutting around with a red coral necklace, proudly showing it off to other women. "Not every woman gets something like that from her husband..." -- I guess I'll never marry, I thought.

If you have your own money, it will be easier for you to leave if you have had enough of your husband's antics. I think personal pride is also a reason why many wives choose to stay and to put up with it. It often starts with flat-out denial, even if the writing is on the wall. Then, when the shit hits the fan because someone is having a baby or there are other hard facts that make further denial impossible, then they put on that "I am a strong woman, my husband loves me and I am supporting him, always" facade. -- There are people who find that photo of Chelsea, holding both her parents' hands and the three of them walking up to the chopper inspiring, but I find it sad. It should not be a child's job to fix his/her parents' marriage or be the glue that holds them together, not even if it's an older child.

Bill talks about how bad Monica had it. He could have cleared the air many years ago in a public statement to help and assist Monica Yet it's poor me.
HE WAS ALSO VERY HELPLESS!!!!!! HE HAD TO THINK ABOUT HIS FAMILY (WIFE &DAUGHTER) HIS JOB!!. They both were at fault! They both were. I am not saying Monica is a bad person and I am not saying bill Clinton is a bad person, but the truth of the matter is that they are both at fault. He was a lot older than her, (he was like 50 something at the time, and she was 24 yrs old) 6 yrs older than his daughter. He was married, he was president which means he was in a position of power and had a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders and yet he goes out doing sexual relations with a women only 6 yrs younger than his daughter. And on the other hand she knows all of this, she knows his married with a daughter, she most definitely knows he's the president and that he is in a position of power and she still engages in a sexual relation with him. So if anything their both to blame, not only him.
