- I made a simple printing press for block printing. This press is cheap, easy to build, and uses an interesting mechanism.

This looks like it would be really useful as a book press, too. I'm going to try this out.
I was going to say the same thing. I've been wanting to try both book binding and letterpress printing, and this has possibilities for both. One of the videos that showed up in the suggestions beside this video gave me another idea. I could leave the caulk gun out and grab the jack from my van. That could easily apply more than enough pressure for either application, or enough pressure to split the device apart at the seams if I'm not careful. I might have to try Cajun rigging a similar device with a car jack and try it out.
this is EXACTLY what i looking for. I’ve been racking my brains for months thinking in a solution, and here it is!
Dude this is sweet. Much simpler than rollers and more consistent than a lever. I'm making one for sure
Very simple yet ingenious! I like the way you sped up the film making too. Often people don't realise that an unedited film can loose its interest. Fun to watch!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
Fantastic idea with some minor modifications to even out and smooth the process. Lovely, absolutely lovely
Dear Makify1, Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Thanks for simple easy to understand instructions.
pierre from New Mexico
Just built it in an afternoon. Now I have to wait for the glue to dry. Great instructions! Thanks!
A good idea. I liked watching you build your press. Nicely done!
Thank you for making this easy to follow video sharing your very creative solution! Not only was this a problem I have been trying to work out (even went so far as to buy an old panini press to convert it - not a clean look due to the angle of pressing), but you made it very approachable. Your plans are a home crafters dream and your video is an incredibly informative guide. Keep up the creative ideas, sir, and thank you for making one cat lady very excited about building a printing press!
I'm glad you liked the video!
Very clever idea and easy to make. It would be a good shop project for schools, as well as anyone interested in making an inexpensive press.
Really cool! Good luck in your printing adventures!
Awesome device! Thanks for sharing!
The final result looks so clean. Loved the bloopers. 😂😂
Thanks!
Great video and the outtake were pure gold. I found this looking for a way to make a press for paper, not homemade paper, but the kind where you glue laminate multiple pages together to make something you can sculpt. Your press gives me ideas, but I don't think there there is a way I could drill that tough metal part. I might be able to find/make a collar that I can drill and fit over it, however. In any case, thanks for the great video and inspiration!
Hi Vinny, good idea !! bloopers are always fun to watch too 😀
Thanks for a great tutorial - I am brand new to lino cut printing so you lit a huge light bulb for me 😊 And - I LOVED the take out shots at the end 😂😂😂 Happy Christmas 2018 😊
Great tutorial! Well done. Thanks for sharing!
good job. I LOVE the outtakes.
Thanks :)
i actually needed this for a book press either way it works perfectly
fantastic!! so wonderful of you to share this! thank you :)
This is superb video for those of us novices who do not want to invest hundreds of dollars on equipment. Your directions and advice were clear and easy to follow. Thank you very much. I also enjoyed that you have a goofy sense of humor!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video.
I love book binding. And I really need this thing. The DIY book bind that I made is okay. But a real press like this would be so much better!
Wonderful tutorial! Especially liked the out-takes :) Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you liked it!

great video and clever application of the caulk gun thanks...subbed.
This is really cool! Great job!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
That's really good. Wonder if there's a way to measure the amount of pressure you get with this.
Hi, This is great. Thank you. I've been looking for an inexpensive press for a long time; this might do the trick. At very least it looks like a fun project! I'm going to try a larger press to accommodate a larger page size and use two guns. Wish me luck.
How did it turn out?
Oh my goodness this is gunna be a life changer 👏🏼 thank you so much!!
Very good video, thank you!
Neat idea, I'll have to experiment with this.
Increíble tu idea… tiene el potencial para ser mejorada y

Very nice, real good idea and do not worry about the voice it is the brains that count.
Nice Work!
I'm looking for plans for a book binding press, and I think by adding a second caulk gun this could easily be good for book binding as well.
This is great. Thanks for sharing.
+Konrad Niemandt You're welcome. Glad you like it.
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!! for sharing this :)
Is it just me but his voice sounds so friendly
It's not just you. It's me as well
And what does the voice have to do with making a press

my compliment! a great idea!
caulk gun, genius...I'm also a fan of bloopers :)

GENIUS!
Great!you should be rewarded!
Good Video. THANKS! SUBSCRIBED!
Somebody get this man a band-saw. Nice project. Also noticed the new drills. Like them?
+Simon White Yes, they are very nice. Love the impact driver. Never realized how useful those things were until I owned one.
Good and Simple Thank you
video bagus simple dan sederhana, trims frend
genius! thanks Freddie!
I'm a bookbinder and currently am using a traditional book press along with a DIY press made from 2 pieces of plywood and 4 bolts w/ wing nuts to tighten. I'd like to make one a bit more functional than the DIY press, something more similar to what you have here (a mechanism on top to drop the plate and apply pressure). Do you think that's something you might create in the future? Thanks!
Really awesome video!
+Samba Vocalize Thanks! :)
Cool and easy!!
your bloopers made me subscribe XD
Thank you!
WOW GENIOUS
Excellent tutorial. Notice all your tools seem brand new!
I try to keep good care of them.
awesome, thank you
Great tutorial and love the outakes too. B
Thank you!
this press is a bit nicer than a nipping press which you have to screw in a downward direction (the top plate always wants to shift in the direction you're turning as it comes down on the print block) Because you come directly down on the wood block, it's a nicer design. I'm going to try it out. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Just wondering if you or any of your viewers have had success printing etching with this press? Many thanks
Using the caulking gun was inspired. Nice job :)
Phil
+Jake and Emmy's Dad Workshop Thank you! :)
Nice idea I would also try it out
But the pressure is only in the centre since the print is a small but what if it's a large piece of lino then can the pressure be even plz let us know tks
Very nice Good Job!! Love the outtakes too ;-)
Thanks!
Amazing!
good job.

+Makify1 ...toes also ;)
+Kühn Ha ha! Excellent.
+Makify1 ... hope is ok if i some day copy something for my channel... of course I make a link in the description and say from who I get this idea :)
+Kühn Go for it. Send me a link, I'd love to see what you make.
thanks I will start building mine tomorrow
Do you think this handmade press will work for Drypoints? Looking for a cheaper option since etching presses are so expensive.
thank you for this video. you should put the block down first and the fabric on top so you don't risk shifting
Oooh, good tip. Thanks!
Great one ... Is there anything for phone case printing like this ?
Please share your ideas with us 😊
Thanks 👍🏻
😯🤩😍 Süper fikir çok teşekkürler :)(:
can u tell me what all material are there and from where we can get it??
Fricking Genius!!!
Very inventive! Who knew?!?
awesome duuude!!!!
Thanks, man!
Great video! Love the outtakes. lol
Though not as quick, I couldn't help but think that simply sandwiching two boards with a few clamps could accomplish the same thing. No?
Yes, that's a good idea. If you were making a bunch of prints, the press might be faster but your idea should work well for small batches of prints.
