See, this is why I watch y'all. You have so much awareness of yourselves when you talk about this kind of content. You have no ego when it comes to gatekeeping knowledge and it occurs to you that you show bias in different ways, and you never allow that to dilute or disrespect the content itself. This is what I mean and I've said it before, y'all show so much respect to the arts. You don't just flippantly critique everything with pure cynicism like too many people have gotten into the practice of doing these days. They see something, and if it isn't EXACTLY what they feel they've been promised they immediately wanna crap all over it. You at least try to see the artistic merit in things even if you don't absolutely love them, and that counts for *_so much._*
As an artist myself, your use of this platform is a beautiful thing to witness.
most of everybody here is pretty much making the point this is the starting point the origin story. It’s pretty much their innocence before the war so yeah they’re just young and inexperienced. They’re innocence hasn’t been lost yet. The trials haven’t worn them yet. This leads to the dark stuff because I think they wanna make a franchise out of this and lead towards the more battle worn, more stoic versions that we know now.
Those who knew the origin of Optimus Prime this could be a gem if the movie really good story telling, nothing wrong with the art and character design.
Those who don't know the origin won't accept the art, character design and voice actor too.
Meanwhile this movie mainly aim for those who don't know the origin
I say this as a 45 year old man who got his first Transformers toy in 1983 when I was 5 years old, who still has his original Transformers the Movie VHS, played so many times, certain audio tracks are barely audible, Transformers media has ALWAYS been nothing more than an advertising scheme to sell toys to children. That's it. The OG movie is a 90 minute music video / advertising campaign, and I love it, but that's all it is. Like, for real, go back and watch the first season of the OG cartoon, it's near unwatchable. This movie is going to do good with the audience it wants to do good to, children. That being said, I will also enjoy it for what it is just like I enjoy the cheesy as hell OG movie for what it is.
First of all transformers didn't come out until 1984 and season one and two was the best seasons. This movie looks awful. Josh Cooley is making a mockery of this franchise! He is another deushbag in line to ruin it just like Michael bay and every other deushbag before him that has ruined this franchise! People open your eyes! Even kids are not going to like this trash! Hasbro has been ruining this franchise ever since the 86 movie and especially since stupid beast wars! There is no more excuse for Hasbro.
While I agree with you on the fact that the OG tranformers series was very shallow, it' not quite true that the whole franchise just about selling toys and havng no depth. Armada, Transformers Prime, and the IDW comics did handle some pretty dark themes, like war, sacrifice, forgiveness, abuse, friendship etc. IDW's Cybertron was an outright dystopia Megatron attempet to burn down, and rebuild anew.
I would have preferred if they used the aligned continuity origins of Megatron. (mining bot turned into a gladiator, who beame a revolutionist)
I'm 44 and agree. My first was thundercracker at the age of five. I still have it too, all busted up.

So from what i know about the movie from footage shown at cinemacon and the director himself, the movie isn't as silly or comedic as this teaser shows it. There is still a fairly serious story that also happens to be littered with comedy, kinda like how the Spiderverse movies are approached. At this point, only time will tell!
I'm cautiously optimistic about this.
I feel all the humor while be worth it if they pull a G1 "Optimus dying" moment near the end.
I mean we do know at some point their story gets dark cause this before “The War” started. So we’re seeing how they were before the war changed who they are

I was looking forward to this review more than anyone else's as two OG fans of G1. Very respectful to the new while still staying true to the old.

I like it. Origin story. Before the war. Good for new Young fans. The bond between orion pax and d16 before they become Optimus prime and megatron. I'm interested
When I first saw the trailer, I went back and watched the season 2 episode War Dawn, which actually showed Orion Pax and I think they nailed it. The Megatron origin however was a bit jinkey. He's always been described as a gladiator turned freedom fighter who gave into his lust for power and order. Peace through tyranny if you will. I'm interested to see if they try to put the whole transition to war in one movie or if they are just laying the foundation. There is a split second shot in the trailer with him standing with Soundwave and Shockwave, so we'll see.

According to the folks behind the scenes, the film is gonna be pretty darn dark toward the third act. Idk how much of that is the marketing side but considering the fallout of Orion Pax and D-16 when they become Optimus Prime and Megatron is going to be a focus of the film, I'm willing to bet it's gonna cut deep.
If you're looking for that war story right off the bat, however, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Skybound Comics that are going on right now. It has hands-down some of the most BRUTAL action in TF media I've ever seen and their take on Optimus is by far one of my favorites.
for being a different take as a film i kinda wish they have megaton as megatronus but for it being something new and it just being its own thing i just hope they handle pax getting the matrix the right way
Aye u saw the other soon to be decepticons in a small segment. Starscream, Shockwave and SoundWave. This DEFINITELY is going to lead into how the war started at some point. I’m skeptical, but if they play it right, this could be the best transformers movie yet.

Chis Hemsworth sounds good as Orion Pax. He literally worked with Peter Cullen.
You also gotta Remember that their personalities are not the same as they are once they become optimus prime and megatron.
Wow this actually looks fun and interesting! The art style isnt totally for me. I think it would have been better in a bit more mature art style like from the beginning of Bumblebee movie but the story itself could be a banger.

I just don't like how this is the first modern Transofromers film that's concentrated on just the Transformers instead of humans (what every TF fan has wanted for decades now) and it turns out to be some kind of buddy comedy with cringey humor. It's giving me (Buzz) Lightyear and Super Mario Bros vibes.

I would love to see a rated R LAST RONIN TMNT movie. Something similar to the MARTIAL ARTS action movies in those films by Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais.
My one complaint about this trailer is that I wish I hadn't seen it... I mean, it basically told the whole story.. no more "Oh they're just regular bots and won't transform, it'll be an interesting take" "Oh nvm I guess they do get to transform, but we just see their feet, in the show we'll get to see what they.. " "Oh we see what they're like.. But I guess they're not good at it and" "Oh I guess they become really good at it"... Why do I need to watch the show again? I miss the days when trailers would just show the intro, not the middle and middle end too. Like take the X-Men 97 trailers, almost all of the scenes on it were just from episode 1, great. So right now I hope this is all episode 1 and there's a lot more : /

Also trailer misdirection is a very common practice to subvert viewers expectations when they go into the movies

Because we already had that lore regurgitated to us millions of times already. time for something new
This movie WILL STILL have that plotline, things such as the T-cog, and them reaching the surface, will just be like the prology part of the film. This isn't even speculation, it's been essentially confirmed. Then it will be afterwards that they then get to the start of Megatron and Optimus' conflict, the likely corrupt higher-ups and the Quintessons in control of the society, the origins of the Autobot and Decepticon factions, and all that
We already have 1 game and 1 netflix series that show us how civil war on cybertron go on and how it kill the planet that they could not live their longer. But we don't have much about the last moment of golden age before the civil war except some flash back so this is a chance to show some new fan a back story of it

Peter Cullen is still alive... Hard pass... tired of these comedies that make a mockery of it's iconic lore. It feels more like a kids action cartoon movie than the epic saga it's supposed to be.
correct me if im wrong but this is the first one full of comedy right? besides tf why are people so entitled on wanting peter cullen? let the man get some rest, if you have watched the previous G1 series you know back then it was not that serious up until Pax got reformed into Prime and lose all his memories.
Peter cullen will be voicing the character once he became Optimus prime
You're clearly not actually that well informed lmao. It's been known for a while that Chris Hensworth will just be doing the voice of Orion Pax, however once he becomes Optimus Prime, then the voice will be Peter Cullen again
