Subtle changes in move order can have huge effects. I like that in this version of the Wing Gambit, Black does not have the option of returning the pawn with ...b4-b3 to keep the a-file closed. And, as Igor emphasized, it's quite amazing how many natural moves do not work for Black.

Thank you Igor!! Could you do more videos on the Blackmar Diemer? A lot of the opponents I play against don't take the pawn sacrifice after Qxf3, what other ideas are there if they don't go down that line?
You’re forking the bishop on f5 and b2 pawn when you play Qxf3. Even if they don’t take the free pawn on c2 they don’t have many moves to play. Lets say they play the most popular move undeveloping the bishop back to home square you can long castle and push d5 opening the position. Worth noting is that if they play c6 after undeveloping their bishop you’ll have to take the f6 knight or the bishop will skewer your queen and rook. The position play themselves after you open it but if you want the full move then check out wgraif channel.

I am often critical of these "crush your opponent with this opening" videos, as it usually ignores some rather obvious and perhaps common ways to avoid the worst outcomes, but I can truly see opponents making all the same mistakes in this one. It is definitely a variation I will be trying out in practice.
Give it a few weeks and Sicilian players will have it memorized as the Dumb Trap players spam it ad nauseum. I'm already seeing this line a fair bit. After this, I guess it'll be every other game 😪
Igor is just too popular. It is all very good training though. I think the important thing is that if you try any such traps, that your position is not compromised if they don't fall for it.@@kalias66

I believe g6 is objecticely the best reply. It prevents b4, so you can just play an accelerated dragon where white wasted a move

I think on the last example black bishop taking white bishop on a2 is winning for black instead going bg5

Tried this gambit in my first otb tournament yesterday. Result: 0 out of three. I was lucky to win all my black games with the trusted boring French opening. So I ended up at least scoring 3 out of 6 after losing all my white games against the Sicilian. My opponents just did not play the nice moves shown here. And I am not the tactic genius to find my way through this complicated opening once I am on my own. Never got the knight to b5, never got the pawn back, never got any tactical compensation, in one case against a 2050 player I even lost control over the center after having that huge bulwark there. My conclusion: this opening is just for tactical geniuses. Nothing for me. Just brings my rating down.
