Thanks a lot, appreciate it
I like the 6 month review concept for many reasons, especially since you actually used this for an extended period personally, whereas I doubt many other reviewers can say that. Good work!
Been reading through the comments and after seeing some feedback that answered some of my more pressing questions, you helped me make my decision. I'll be buying a S90C. The One Connect box looked REALLY attractive, but I wont be using it for the reason why most people would need the box for their setup. I'll be mostly playing games but also watching a lot of streamed shows and movies. Since the output display is marginally different between the 95c and 90c, I'll save myself the money and go for the cheaper of the two. I've been watching so many videos from so many channels, but yours clinched it for me. Thanks again.
I had a couple of drop outs on series x and PS5 when I first got the TV, contacted Samsung and thought they wouldn't have a clue how to fix it, the guy logged on remotely and fixed the handshake issue by resetting the hdmi ports, not had a issue since so well impressed with tech service
🧢
Thanks Classy! I never had a HDMI issue on my 65" S95C BUT I had many issues on my 65" QN95B
Hi @ClassyTechCalibrations thanks for the and all other content. Love the "to the point" nature of your videos. One quick question/observation - your picture settings in this video seem quite different than your other video "Samsung S95C QD OLED Complete Settings Guide". Can you please update that video to reflect these newer settings or just list the new settings here somewhere in a pinned post? Thx!
77 S90C (MSI4090) Been playing at 144 for about 5 weeks and no drop outs. I have updated the firmware. This thing is special.
I have the 77" S95C at 144hz on a 4090. Have never had a video drop out myself.
Great review classy. Would love to see this TV in 85-in format.
Hey Classy, if you use Samsung‘s “the frame” mount, the TV will be flush against the wall. I use it, and it works great.
I have severe drop outs just like what is described here and they take about 10 seconds roughly while using the Plex media player desktop app and pretty much only when using that app and never when gaming at 144hz/hdr/vrr. ULTRA annoying. Great review!
I found if I turn on frame matching in the windows plex app I would get the bacl screen with ring. Turn it off
@@DeztructorL10 I'll give that a try thanks so much. It's my only issue with this TV and I hate it.
Man, your videos are awesome!!! You give exactly the kind of information we need. It’s like you were hearing our thoughts LOL. I really appreciate your effort and everything you do. I do have only one question though…. I watched FOMO’s video where he announced his Editor’s Choice for 2023 where he chose the Samsung S90C. In one part of that video he stated that visualy they are pretty much indistinguishable. I’m almost set to buy the 77” S90C but I would love to have your input on this.
I do know that the version from Costco has better audio but I’m using a Sonos Arc so, sound is of no concern to me.
Yes, S90C is basically the same for less money and no one connect box.
Yup same TV except one is thinner with connect box and other has all connections behind the TV. I got the S95C because I like the one connect box
@@ClassyTechCalibrations, thanks for your reply & confirmation. That pretty much settles it for me. You know I’ve been going back and forth for well over a year and now it is finally over. I’ll be getting the 77” S90C somewhere between October/November. Lets just hope Samsung doesn’t come with one of those updates and screws something up. I think I’m going to keep that TV offline forever.
Then I’ll look for your calibration settings. Let me know how I can get them or how do I contact you when I get the TV installed. Thanks again, my friend!
@@ClassyTechCalibrationsproblem is almost everyone is using a 77 inch witch guarantees the gen2 panel. Or is the gen2 panel in every s90c?
@@TheMarcel1988nl that doesn't matter. They are software restricted to look the same and have the same performance on the S90C
I have been using the s95c for pc gaming (4090) purposes for 2 weeks now. The only time I experience drop outs is when I go to my 2nd monitor to view a video for example while gaming. I have yet to experience it while gaming. It’s an awesome TV/monitor. You will need some time to get used to the vertical size,55. I have to be 3ft+ distance if you are near sighted lie I am, you may need to use glasses which is a negative for me. No issues what so ever for desktop use. I would like to see more reviews on the G9 G95NC 57 before making my final decision.
What's your s95c's manufacturing month?
Hey bro, did you used their settings for pc gaming or you are using your own settings for pc gaming? Coz for me, its too dimmed when i followed their gaming settings. Thanks
@@leomelfrancisco6036 not 100%. Did you do the HDR calibration and move the SDR slider all the way to the right in windows?
@@omikurita no, i haven't done anything in windows, just pure on tv. I am using 65" s95c using their settings in gaming. Can you give me some advice of what to do next? Cause mine is too dark.
Will you be getting the A95L when it comes out? I'm still rocking the A80J 77" I got new last year and love it minus it randomly turning off by itself. It did it 2 times last night within a minute of me turning it back on after the first time :(.
very nice review.
how would you say the black smearing is on gaming and back and forth movement in darker areas? i saw you mentioned it specifically in the S90C video (IIRC)..just wondering if it's pretty much the same or improved..I didn't see you shout out that specific quality in this particular vid. i saw you were in some of the same areas in-game, but it's hard to tell on you tube and on my particular display regarding that kind of motion..
thanks!
The low luminance smearing seems to no longer be an issue on gen 2 panels from what I have seen.
How to calibrate to BT2020 using colour settings? Is it worth doing this for HDR Gaming or just leave it in P3? Will I need calibration equipment for this?
Hey classy,,
After updating the firmware to 1220.9 .. I noticed the some changes in the service menu if you can help me translate what that means.. before update the peak luminance was set to 48 .. now its 38 after the update .. how does that affect the screen ? also some other changes i took a picture off but i dont how to send it to you ?
I get drop outs watching content using the latest gen Apple TV box on my 77", mostly but not only in CZcams. I also get drop outs with Xbox Series X in games when in 120Hz and PS5 in 120Hz or with Atmos enabled both in games and in the UI. All three of those devices are HDMI 2.1. I haven't noticed it with my HDMI 2.0 devices. The drop outs are frequent enough that I can't deal with it any more and will be replacing it with a 77" Sony A95L. I've had the S95C for several months now and this is my second S95C. The first one had all kinds of handshake issues in addition to drop outs. It's a shame because it really is a great picture.
Was that black screen issue with consoles ever fixing a firmware update or is it still an issue? I was really considering this TV but after hearing about this black screen thing it's a deal breaker for me.
Hey Classy, QN95C review and settings coming up anytime soon? Cheers!
@ClassyTechCalibrations are the raised blacks (due to not having a polarizer) noticeable in a dark environment? At my local Best Buy, you can clearly make out the screen from the black bezel, whereas you can't with a C3 from LG. And that's with regular, not so bright, ambiant light.
Rtings just tested the latest firmware on the S95C and said game mode now tracks EOTF much better but the tv thermal throttles again leading to a significant drop in hdr luminance. Could you check?
Classy, the tv is actually capable of being flush against the wall. If you use Samsung's frame mount, it will work perfectly. :)
Does the S90C have these gaming dropouts? If not i'll get the 90C instead. I couldn't put up with that issue. I'd always be waiting for the next black screen.
Very nice review! I have 65 S95C and I really love its performance, Whats the current version of your s95c now? Thank you
Was originally going to get the s95c but seeing as the s90c is basically almost the same tv at the 77 inch size and nearly 1k cheaper im holding off for black friday to snag it. Cant wait too finally upgrade from a 2017 tcl p607.
Huge upgrade, buddy. By Black Friday, you will definitely get a great deal for a phenomenal TV.
I have a TCL P607 and I still love the tv very much. 😊 I have a S95BD and its a monster😊
its not the same image quality.
it's the same panel but deliberately limited so that it doesn't match the performance of the S95C
Does anyone know where the 4K HDR demo footage starting at 8.05 can be downloaded from? They were playing it on the TVs in my local store at the weekend.
Great Vid..
Not sure if you or someone else from Stop the FOMO has the G3 to test this, but there is a flicker problem with dark low light hdr scenes on the internal apps (and some report even just overall). Could you test this to see if this is happening on your end?
So for pc it sounds like it might be better to wait for the non-one connect version of this panel maybe next years S90D?
What's the solution to the drop outs besides not being in the game mode /pc mode... Not sure avoiding those settings is the acceptable option.
How’s the dimming on the S90C while gaming?
Classy please answer this to help me. Is this tv better with watching CZcams tv on Apple TV 4K? I need to purchase a tv this week and want to know as that’s important to me with the upscaling lower content I know Sony is best but the price is much higher. Thanks for all you do.
Hi. Good job as always! I have s90c 77 inch and kept it on stock firmware (1140) since day one since hgig was available. As i understand with current firmware hgig is not available any longer right?
On Xbox/PS5 where does it clip the white patterns at?

Classy is it me or Native colour space on the S95B gives you automatically BT2020
Can you connect/use a console with the TV NOT in game mode? Or will the TV force game mode when it detects a console? I am a casual gamer so I don't care about low latency, but I do care about not having drop outs. Currently deciding to get this or the S90C. Where I live, the 65" S95C is only $90 more than the 65" S90C.
The drop outs were a pain for sure so I dropped mine to 120hz. Mainly used for PC gaming so after setting mines been rock solid since for gaming and desktop. God tier picture

How is picture quality through inbuilt tv apps??
Classy, the dropouts periodically appear on my C2 too...
Is it normal to have banding on thisbtv? Specifically im asking for the game Cyberpunk 2077. Idk if its just that specific game?
Thanks for another grest video Classy. I have one question thats important. For the random dropouts, my S95C will go black for couple of seconds, show the spinning loading circle, & it switches to my hdmi soundbar. Is there any fix or anything that can lower the chance of random switching inputs?
Did you resolve this issue?
Any way you could review/calibrate the Q80C QLED?
So the drop out problem, I have Switch through soundbar, Series x, PC and PS5. PC has been only issue but I keep VRR off (don’t like flicker). So, PC I fixed the issue by turning down refresh rate on PC to 120hz . Occasionally still does it but just restart PC. So there is a fix. Once you go back to 144hz, just starts turning black again
Is this panel better than last years s95b?
How did the "real world" HDR highlight brightness compare to the X95L you measured? I want to say Digital Trends measured the latter around 1400 nits (which to me is disappointing for LCD)
But this is an amazing result, most lcd dont reach its max brightness in reallife content. Samsung for example show more than 2000nit in windowtest but its always darker than sony tvs in real content. The qdold will have more brightness in 1%-5% small highlights compare t any lcd in real comtent because lcds dimm down there to get rid off blooming. In high apl scene the lcds would still be brighter
Hey Classy, Do your settings apply to S90C also?
I don’t want the one connect box so no S95C for me.
Pretty much, maybe minor differences. The S90C videos are coming soon.
Can you please make another review about the updates that were published meanwhile?
I think the handshake issue is fixable
I never had it on QN95B
how is this compared to A95K ?
Hey Classy great work! Is it worth calibrating the TV to BT2020 for HDR PC Gaming? I have left it in P3 mode like you had recommended in your settings video.
I'll have a video soon on what to change to use bt2020
@@ClassyTechCalibrationsperfect. Thank you!!
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Hey Classy. Are you still planning on making that video? Or a post with the settings?
Please keep us updated😢
Great video Classy! This just makes me look forward to my 77” Sony A95L even more. :)
I have FW 1130 (OG) my tv is not connected which firmware do you suggest i install?
It sounds like motion isn’t any better or worse in film content than what I have on TVs I already own, from the way you describe it? I typically keep motion processing off. I’ve only ever turned it up for sports or any kind of 60fps live content. At lower framerates I’ve felt there’s not enough for motion processing to chew on, which always results in SOE or artifacting.
Congrats on the channel! I wanted to ask how the TV behaves with the management of movement, depth and three-dimensionality of the images, thanks!!!
In the video "ACHTUNG! Firmware: 1212.7 zerstört FILMMAKER MODE des Samsung S95C!" that reviewer mentioned that 1140 is significantly more accurate than 1212.7 (1220.9 is better again, but not as good as 1140) in SDR filmmaker mode. Calibration will fix it, but most of us aren't going to calibrate their TV, so out of the box performance is very relevant. Did you notice anything similar / test for the same issue?
I had an issue with two different S95C TVs with the latest 4K Apple TV and XSX.
If I was watching the ATV then turned on XSX it would not automatically switch sources despite CEC and other settings enabled. Then when I manually switched source half of the screen would be a scrambled XSX image and the other half would be a frozen ATV image. I tried different HDMI 2.1 cables. I kept both TVs on stock firmware and disabled WiFI butI ended up returning them both TVs due to the video dropout reports I read.
Maybe an update is helpful here...
Glad to see I'm not the only one who has had the drop outs with the latest Apple TV. I replaced it to make sure I didn't just have a bad one. My first S95C had terrible handshake issues that required the TV to be reset in addition to having the dropouts. The second one I too get drop outs using Apple TV, XsX, and PS5. Wondering if it's an HDMI 2.1 thing.
One Connect Box models from Samsung are known for drop outs since many years. Better gor for a model without OCB. Chance is much higher to get a model without black screens.@@jasonmenard4572
Hi Classy,
Thank you for the great content; I’m a new subscriber here. Qq, We use our tv for mix content (movies, console gaming (PS5) and HQ streaming Netflix, Amazon etc).
If you found the S95C and the S90C for the around the same price, which would you recommend? Is the one connect box issue a deal breaker for console gamers?
Thank you
They perform nearly identical. I personally would take the S90C to avoid the possibility of issues with the One Connect Box, at least since I experienced them on it. I had no issues with the S90C I had.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations so no real benefits that the S95C has over the 90C? I found the 77 inch for both just about the same price, so I ordered both to see which I’d keep. That’s a bummer that the flagship is not much more than the S90C. Thank you
@@gavids2809 it's not that the S95C isn't more capable, it's that most content (99%) doesn't exceed what the S90C can do. In some HDR scenes the 95 might get a touch brighter, but would need them side by side to even tell.
In SDR it can get a bit brighter at max as well if you need super bright SDR. But the S90C is still plenty for most.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations thank you, that’s incredibly helpful. I appreciate all the content. I’ve tried looking for videos comparing the two, but I can see now that the differences are very small.

I just know from your live streams you have said you have been backed up on videos so was just trying to get a date of exactly when this is accurate up until like which exact firmware you were on as of last. So, when I get my S95C i can cross reference and say AHhh yes i am verified safe with whatever is pre-loaded. Because Samsung S95B has proven to be fine on say 1310 and than bam the exact next update eotf is under tracking in "HGIG" & than bamn next one game mode Bt. 1886 gamma is completely broken. @@ejg34 Nah, I saw Gaming on AllAboutTKK's channel who already has the A95L, it looked too incredible, Games in HDR look like Movies on this thing. S95C can't match the Sony processing which looks even better this year.
It's amazing the way some hype these TV differences as though they are huge instead of them being minor. I fully expect the A95L to be the "best" (at least outside of gaming) but the difference over something like the S95C is going to be minor. They use the same screens and display tech, both track or are supposed to track the same PQ EOTF for HDR and gamma for sdr, and according to reviews of the S95C, it's quite accurate in terms of colour so differences there should be minor. There isn't enough outside of all that which would create a massive difference like you seem to think there will be. This isn't like front projectors or even FALD LCDs where you can have huge differences in terms of image quality.
@@robblack8754 Then you haven't watched TKK's vids yet. I don't like Games on the S95C, they look imo too "intense" and childish, on the other hand A95L gives me that Cinematic and realistic look. If you don't think that's a huge difference then idk, I trust my eyes more than some random CZcams comments lol. Yes raw numbers measure similarly and Brightness is most likely the same for the most part, however the way a Game or Movie looks on Sony is what sets things apart for me.
@@robblack8754 it's called fanboism
Nobody has the balls to talk about the fact that both Samsung and LG nerf their tvs with software updates. Apple does this too for their iPhones. This is such a controversial topic that doesn’t get talked about because CZcamsrs will lose their sponsorships. It’s a shame how all authenticity has gone out the window.

I have kept my S95C offline since day 1. Will updating give the TV any benefit?
can't believe Samsung is still having those video dropout issues. I had the same problem with my old Samsung KS8500 from 2017 and it was the main reason I bought an LG TV. I was thinking of buying this TV but hearing that those same issues still exist I guess I'll get the G3.

I have the S95B, it was a beautiful picture when I got it, but the updates ruined it in my opinion. It's not close to what it once was. Why I got the G3 last week. The color on the G3 is a LOT better than the C9,CX, or the G2. There are some color banding I guess what it is in dark scenes with a candle light or some bright highlight.
I've thought about returning for the S95C because I play XSX and PS5, but the drop outs make me hesitant. After using the S95B for a year and going back to LG with the G3 I personally think DV is highly overrated. I do believe watching sports and live tv on the G3 is it better then the Samsung S95B, the new C model might be better.
I 💯 think it's a trade off, highlights POP on the G3 in HDR mode with movies and standard tv is beautiful. I game 50/50 percent of the time, I agree gaming is a little disappointing. If they'd remove the brightness limiter in gaming it would be great.
MLA made a huge difference for woled, the colors don't pop as much as QD OLED, but it's not a huge difference like it was before MLA. But QD OLED is substantially better with less banding in darker scenes. If they'd fix gaming on the G3 I think it would be the better over all tv. They won't, they haven't for years now.
It's difficult for me, i think standard tv on the G3 blows away the s95b, even before firmware ruined it. Movies i think were close before firmware ruined the s95b, personal preference.
Gaming is a lot better on the s95b, I can only assume even more so on the s95c.
If I knew they'd fix game mode I'd keep the G3 no question. If i knew Samsung wouldn't ruin the s95c eventually with firmware and i wouldn't have the drop out issues (because of G3 game mode) I'd return the G3 now for the S95C.
If i had my choice, I'd pick LG to fix the G3 game mode and banding in dark scenes. Regular tv is better on the G3.
In my opinion live sports and tv on the G3 is equivalent to comparing game mode on the s95c to the G3.
S95C huge win on gaming and banding.
G3 huge win on regular tv and brightness with HDR highlights.
I think if LG ever goes QD they will win back the throne.
From my views the dropout only occurs in 144hz mode..drop it to 120hz, you don't get any dropouts. Seeing as LG oled can only max at 120hz anyway, dropping the s95c to 120hz means your not loosing anything against the lg, but still maintaining benefits of qd oled over w-oled( better colour etc)...where I am, the s95c is substantially cheaper than the lg t'vs( we're talking c3 series here, they don't even have the 2023 g series here, so becomes a no brainer.
@CraigDownie All I have is a XSX and PS5, so 144hz has no value to me. Thanks for that input.
@@Imprisoned1995Did you keep the G3 in the end? I recently bought it and tbh I'm pretty underwhelmed by it. I only use it for gaming, and for me it's not that much better than my old C9, minus the brightness. I'm past the return window now but seriously considering selling it and buying a S95C or S90C. As I said, I use these TV's exclusively for gaming so the Samsungs seem better suited for me. I only went for the G3 because I got an amazing deal for it. I should make my money back by selling it anyways, so no harm done.
Wish I could test the g3 and s95c in game mode to see which one is better
The S95C is for sure.
@@ClassyTechCalibrationswhat about outside game mode ?
@@lipiningole1381 gaming in general is better on QD OLED than the G3.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations I own a cx right now and while I love it it’s slightly lacking in brightness and the black crush is insane. I’m very into accuracy and was debating the g3 or s95c but after seeing the same black crush and the nerfed game mode on g3 I went for the s95c although I’d still want to see them myself in person to know for sure. I saw you’re gonna be coming to New York, maybe you can calibrate the s95c!
@@manyakgaming1346 yeah, I'll be there all next week. Send me an email.
So that means you aren't selling it to me next year for a discount 😂
Dnice complained for overshoot...
Overshoot on qd oled?
The drop outs are an absolute deal breaker, also keep in mind that Samsung only gives you 5 days to return it (probably charging you for shipping ant taxes), they most likely won't give you support, because they say it is the "normal" function of the TV.
It might look better than the G3 on games but I would rather save the headaches, in my opinion it is not worth the chance that it would happen to you on such a expensive device. Just don't buy it
So what’s the deal with these dropouts everyone complains about? I wonder how many people don’t get them. People that don’t get them wouldn’t complain. I feel like it’s not the OCB, my friends S90C does it too.
Are their cables certified? If over 6 feet, are they active fiber cables?

I have one of these on my living room right now that is a.brick it literally won't turn on black screen I here a female voice asking howd Id like to set it up but nothing on the TV so dumb
The reference standard is 20+😢😢😢
Those dropouts idk smh
6 months with s95c and it had extreme burn in all over. Had it replaced and going to use it as a tv and not gaming tv as this tech is just not it yet for heavy gaming use.
Drop caused by crap ocb I’ve only had my tv 2 days and it’s happening Samsung release a epic tv and gimp it with crap ocb from older TVs they need to fix this issue big time it’s false advertisement stating the tv is built for gamers when in fact we only get junk I love the image but the ocb is a joke
Have samsung said anything constructive re blackouts?
They won’t they know the one connect box has issues but it only effects high end gamers so they don’t care
