  • I needed to test a theory I had about this laser engraver so I enlisted the help of my daughter who is 13. She's also never used a laser before which makes this a great test for a laser that is supposed to be beginner friendly! What could go wrong?

    Your daughter is a breath of Fresh air she is articulate and confident for a 13 year old young lady, unlike so many young folks today. You and your wife have accomplished the task of rearing a child! (you raise chickens not children) great job Professor!😁🛫

    I loved the Daughter/Father banter! You need to feature her in more videos. I think the dynamic between you is awesome! Really enjoyed the video even though I have no interest in the actual laser itself. Was just a ton of fun watching you enjoy time with your daughter while making a new devotee of the hobby. :)

      Thank you! She has already asked if she can be in more videos so you'll be seeing more of her in the future! It took me forever to edit this video down because I had over an hour of footage of us talking and being goofy.

    Love the fact that you are including your daughter in your work and taking the time to teach her. Too many kids go without the love and supervision they need.

    This is a great video. Loved the interaction between dad and his daughter. She showed the simplicity of the equipment operation. It gives a newbie confidence to be able to create their own projects. I have a 13-year-old granddaughter and this brought a smile to my face. thanks, guys😄

    Can you upload your artwork into the software? Also, could cut birch panels?

    • @LetsMakeAThing
      @LetsMakeAThing  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, you can upload your own artwork. With the 20 watt version of this laser you can definitely cut 3mm birch ply.

      @@annperz4132 Check out WeCreat's webpage about the laser. It should have the operating temperature and humidity ranges for the laser.

    Is this a subscription-based laser? How does it compare to the Glowforge? Does it require an Internet connection?

    • @LetsMakeAThing
      @LetsMakeAThing  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The only subscription is to the library of projects. You can use the software for free without a subscription. You need an Internet connection to download and use the projects, I haven't tested using the software without an Internet connection.
      Can't really compare this laser to a Glowforge because I don't have a glowforge so I can't speak on how it compares. I do have an xTool P2 which is a Glowforge competitor. The software for the Vision and the P2 is very similar. The P2 also uses cameras for alignment like the WeCreat does. The drawback in the comparison is being a diode laser it's slightly limited. Can't cut 100% clear acrylic, you can engrave on clear but you have to take extra steps. A CO2 can cut clear acrylic and engrave directly without any prep to the material. This one will also be slower as it's a 20 watt diode and the P2 is a 55watt CO2.
      Hope this helps!

      That's great. I've just received my first laser, an Optic, but sadly it does not have enough gantry clearance for a honeycomb. I'm just waiting for a camera to arrive and watching your workshop.

    How good would you say the wecreat smoke extractor is? Should I buy or get a different brand extractor? Thank you.

    • @LetsMakeAThing
      @LetsMakeAThing  Před 3 měsíci

      Definitely buy a stronger extractor fan! The one that comes stock in the machine is similar to a small PC case fan. It doesn't have enough power to push air from the laser down any length of exhaust pipe. This is a common issue with most all in one diode lasers.
