- Pseudo Echo are an Australian New Wave band formed in 1982 in Melbourne. The original line-up consisted of Brian Canham (vocals, guitars and keyboards), Pierre Gigliotti (as Pierre Pierre) (bass guitar, keyboards), Tony Lugton (guitars and keyboards) and Anthony Argiro (drums). A later line-up included James Leigh (keyboards) and his brother, Vince Leigh (drums). In the 1980s, Pseudo Echo had Australian top 20 hits with "Listening", "A Beat for You", "Don't Go", "Love an Adventure", "Living in a Dream" and their cover of "Funky Town", which peaked at No. 1 in 1986. In 1987, it reached No. 1 in Canada and New Zealand, No. 6 in United States and No. 8 in United Kingdom.
They released their debut album, Autumnal Park in 1984 which peaked at No. 11 on the Australian Kent Music Report. Love an Adventure followed in 1985 and reached No. 14. Their third album, Race (1989) peaked at No. 18 and in 1990 the group disbanded. They reformed in 1998 and issued Teleporter in 2000. Rock music historian Ian McFarlane, stated they "combined flash clothes, blow-wave hairstyles, youthful exuberance and accessible synth-pop to arrive at a winning combination ... and found a ready-made audience among teenagers who fawned on the band's every move".

favourite songs in childhood fantastic 80's
Living in 2019, but my ears will ALWAYS BE IN THE 80's
If we are going to be stuck in a decade it might as well be the 1980's !
so agree with you. the music was so mush better back then. i miss it.
For sure !
just another example of the awesome talent from down under. the 80s a great era of aussie music
Absolutely love this rich new wave synth. Man those electro notes and beautiful bouncing base. Sounds like this just don't exist anymore. What an incredible beautiful mysterious time the early 80s were.
Gorgeous sounds. Analogue synths…pre digital. The best.
Where do I go to find more of this music from my late
youth . .. that is good music to me here in 2022.
@@buddhacook1087 you are pretty much in the right place being on CZcams. I'm from UK so only beginning to find all the 80s music from different countries now that I would have never known about before Internet. Germany also had some cool stuff, just search for German 80s music and other countries from around the world, you will love it!!!! Check out Stranger in me by Pseudoecho, look for Demo version, I like it, very synthy.
I still got this on vinyl. I remember the day I got it. I bought this, then went to the cinema to see Terms of Endearment afterwards, then I got home and played this to death. Aah the memories.
You should watch The North Shore. It has a few of their songs in the soundtrack.
@@jrod4538 I have. It's great to see that these guys finally get some recognition once again.
There was so much to enjoy in the 80's !!
Where do I find more of this music from my late youth?
I luv it 💓
A passing Aussie
Loved this song and band when I was a kid.
Aawesome band
Love Pseudo Echo - part of my youth. Just saw them at Lake Macquarie Australia Day Festival and they are still fantastic. Brian's voice is still exactly the same.
So pure. The crying synth.
I'm an 80s lover!! 👍👍😎😎
Awesome song!!!!👍👍👍
Wow, what an amazing video. I mean the set looks great, the clothes and the hairstyles look awesome.
The set is simple yet so effective.
Bring back the 80's! I mean whatever happened to those revivals where they bring back older styles and music and fashion?
We so need an 80's new wave revival.
There's another video for this song that came out later where they look even more totally '80s with the hair and clothes. That video is better than this one. In the '80s, men had cool haircuts (and had better hair than women did), and you could always tell from a guy's hair what kind of music he was into. Now, guys look very generic. Even all the hipsters look the same (huge beards, flannel shirts, look like members of Duck Dynasty).
I agree with you 100% Rick. This was a great video. Like you said Rick simple and effective. I remember seeing this on Countdown. If I remember correctly it was a Countdown produced clip and at the time they were not even signed to a record company. I think this clip and the response to the song got them a record deal.
I've heard it all before
So many words
That you've just closed the door
If you notice
The changes that you fear
But now it's too late to see
I say You say
Weren't you listening
Now it's too late
You're not listening
I say You say
Weren't you listening
Now it's too late
You're not listening
Saw these guys live in a "free" concert in Melbourne in 1984. back when they had "free RockTober" concerts at the Myer Music Bowl...... Those were the days!!
always so fresh and incredible !!
I still have count down. I still listen to pseudo echo
Love this version
The best
I like the nice juxtaposition between the Gramophone and the Walkman.
Classic. Definitely listening back now, can definitely hear that Jupiter 8 and Polysix. The Jupiter 8 is pretty much that quintessential 80's sound
Early version before John Punter came on scene for their first album.
Great song
Great version!
I love a good synth sound
2020!! 🎧🎧🎧
Can I go back please
They were kings of the Divon !
Awesome music they should kept the look they had in the video living in a dream I realize they had to keep reinventing themselves but that look they had was cooler.
Way cool
❤
Countdown version before they recorded it for a single.
fantastic at the WEC 7/5/16 stole the show😊
Why is this version so different? No Anthony for a start, but it sounds different to regular release.
This is presumably before the final version was recorded. It might have been recorded just for the show.
Does anyone know where this version came from? Different from the single version
Video taken Countdown Summer Special..... hadn't picked up it is different from the single version - thanks. I see you're into Holdens too

Gramophones were so futuristic in the 80's
Which is THE most typical 80's style music clip? This one? Another?
😘🤩😍🥰
Is it just me or is the audio wowing?
Is that a Roland Juno 6? A Jupiter 8? These machines are worth a fortune now.
It is indeed a Jupiter 8. The other one is a Korg Polysix.
Different synthesizer 😵
Is this the home demo version from 310 Demo sessions? Mine does not sound as good.
1:13 How's the girl in the background not getting dizzy xD
New romantics
Up there with The Human League et al
Не чистый звук,так видео интересное.
I wan't to buy the CD.
Great Song, but how come none of the musical instruments weren't plugged in?
(There was no Bluetooth or WiFi back in those days) :)
Also, have to say Brian has a brilliant voice, because i watched some of his acoustical vidz, and his voice is eggsackly the same! (BRILLIANT)
Hugo Chavez weren't you listening?
嘔喔喔喔喔喔4
why is it being played so sloooooooooooooooooow
You're not listening (to real instruments anymore).

Compared to the likes of OMD, Duran Duran and any other British band from that era these sound shit no wonder I never heard of them in the 80s!
I’m from the future, and your looking at the wrong version soap dodger, it’s up to those divas!..
Stop ......
His singning is bad. Sounds like he's trying to sing opera, just when he's voice were changing.
Sure, there were good music in the 80's. This is not it. It's a pastiche of what whas succesful in the 80s.
Yeah it's quite aweful. The bass drum is almost the thing that annoys me the most. I am here mostly to find out what they did before their Funky Town cover :)
get off the drugs.... voice is flawless.
It's dreadful in every way. The lyrics were dire then and they haven't got any better in the interim. The melody is on a par with Mary had a little lamb and the general level of musicianship is dreadful. All show and no go. When hairstyles and clothes are more important than musical ability this is the result
Nothing wrong with the singing. Classic 80s hit.
@@Biggus63 Don't see you doing better. Everyone is a critic.
