Jessica Mauboy - “Advance Australia Fair” in a New South Wales Indigenous dialect
Jessica Mauboy, the talented Australian singer, captivated hearts when she fearlessly performed the Australian national anthem in both Aboriginal language and English. Her rendition was nothing short of extraordinary, and it resonated deeply with the need to celebrate and promote Indigenous culture.
In her deadly performance, Jessica Mauboy stood on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and sang “Advance Australia Fair” in a New South Wales Indigenous dialect1. This powerful act not only showcased her vocal prowess but also highlighted the importance of preserving and honoring Indigenous languages.
For far too long, Australian Indigenous languages were suppressed and erased from collective memory. Jessica Mauboy’s rendition serves as a beacon of hope-a celebration of the survival of Indigenous language and a reminder of the urgent need to protect Indigenous culture.
Beyond her anthem performance, Jessica Mauboy continues to champion Indigenous causes. She recognizes the vital role of Indigenous ranger programs, which are proven success stories for both natural heritage and the lives of Indigenous people. These highly skilled land managers work tirelessly to protect, nurture, and restore the landscape using traditional practices and modern science. They monitor endangered species, manage significant cultural sites, and share traditional knowledge. However, federal funding for these programs is only secured until 2018, and there’s a pressing need to double funding and increase the number of rangers on the ground2.
Jessica Mauboy’s rendition of the national anthem was more than just a performance-it was a call to action, urging us all to celebrate Indigenous culture and support its preservation.

"The Carnival Is Over." Just the title conjures a bittersweet pang, a memory of childhood wonder fading into the dusk. And hearing Judith Durham's voice soar through that 1968 BBC Special performance is like stepping right back into that twilight moment. The Seekers, bathed in the warm glow of the studio lights, weave their magic. Athol Guy's Double Bass plucks a gentle melody, Keith Potger's b...

Oh memories. I still have an old autograph book with The Whispers, The Easybeats, Tony Worsley and the like. It was somewhat easier to get close to the stars back then. Good times 😀
This was my era!!!.. Loved all the memories!!.. Remember as a teen standing beside JOK in a queue for Hamburgers at shop in L/Pool.. Thank You to all who made this video possible!!.. Kevin.. 🙂
God bless CZcams ❤

Wow ! In colour. When cops were ok in Victoria now its bash; pepper spray and assault for being outdoors without a face nappy or any other BS charge
Odd that she paid him in pounds when this was in decimal currency times
Sharpie chicks doing the Thomastown Tango
Real music
The fucking radiators rock
Australian classic
Still remember pretending I rode a Honda 750 on my dragstar.😅
How hot were the miller sisters! they were gorgeous !
It was all down hill after this. Have no sympathy for bands who chop and change to whatever the fashion is at any time, should have stayed to their hard rocking style, by late 1980 it was back in fashion. Angels and Cold Chisel never changed and are still popular legends .
Thank you for posting this. What a gem
Singing harmonies is the true test of any singer.
If these are supposed to be Australian music stars, why are the Rolling Stones even in this video.
Life was so much better back then and so was the music
it's a good song - lyrically it pushed the acceptable moral limits of the time. Production wise it's a song's timing is a bit all over the place. The fact that dispite the production's timing issues - the song still comes through strong is a testament to the strength of the song - particulary the lyric of the chorus, heavy riffs and big beat.
Those were the days. Absolutely loved the 60s 🤎💜🩵
All good so far
Maxine.. Are you sure this white line is not going to fuck me up. Okay here it goes up my nose
Terrible Music..I've heard Electric Motors dying that sound better...
The perfect song. Never beaten.
Just love it. I remember seeing it for the first time on Count Down. What a blessed era we lived in. Thank you to all those wonderful Australian bands that shaped us. Thank you to Janie Miller for her precious inside-knowledge comments below. You were part of the shaping of Australian youth!
Absolutely love this guy! My sisters used to play his music whilst getting ready to go out and i would snesk in and listen to their music circa 1978 a long time ago now
We maybe older still Iva Davies ruled
Played a Battle of the Bands comp against Big Swifty in the late seventies in a band called Frenzy at the Macquarie Uni. We both won our respective categories and they went on to change their name to The Radiators and the rest is history!
Has anyone used these do they do what they say ??
Great band under rated
Loved this song then, and still love it now, every time it comes up on my car radio station, Magic 1278, songs from the 60's 70's and 80's :)
Yes Roy was the best singer all the Times wenn he gets older his voise gets better and stronger he will allways be in my heart i love him ❤❤❤
You could really see the sadness in Athol's face. He is heartbroken. I remember watching this on TV in Australia but was too young to understand what was happening. Thank you The Seekers for all of you great and wholesome music.
I saw The Rads playing Live all around Sydney in the 1980's , they always put on an awesome entertaining show. I'm Coming Home Babe !!
New Zealands version of The Everly brothers
Coming to the Espy to see ya on Saturday
All Crawfords Productions could be remade today no worries because the Scripts were so well written. No Crawfords no Aussie TV. Thanks Roy.
I bet you don't know what this song is actually about
seen him in 1963 i was 13
One of Ivan Milats favourites
What have they done to this footage to "digitally preserve" it? It looks like it's had an AI go over it to sharpen up the face, and it's no longer John's face, it doesn't even look like him. Pause it at 3 seconds for an example, but you could probably pause almost anywhere throughout this and see a face that looks nothing like John Farnham - what a shame.
He was just such a Wog......................and proud of it.........very fond memories!
Heck yeah! Thank you for sharing this mate cheers!
and a better singer than Jimmy Barnes
Before my parents decided to migrate to Australia, I used to watch Skippy... When we arrived in Australia I would watch Matlock Police, Division 4 and Homicide.... Then Paul Cronin went on to also star in Solo One, which I also used to watch. It is great to watch these old shows once again. Thank you for the upload.
What a great song.
Thanks for tge upload... really takes me back to better days
