- Would you pay £230 a night to stay in this historic Cornish jail converted into a luxury hotel? The infamous Bodmin jail underwent an extensive £80 million refurbishment between 2017-2021 and opened as a much anticipated luxury accommodation option. Currently 4* rated, I spent the night in the former cells to see what it’s really like. The hotel is dog friendly and offers various dining options and a gym. Did I get away with a steal or was I the victim of daylight robbery?

An Imposing Old World Building fer sure - £80m was probably cheaper than having it Demolished - Hotel, Motel, Holiday iiinn, we came for a night the Gaffer was a Fright, and we ain’t comin back agiiin 😜🙏🏻👍🏻✨

Makes no sense a manager of a hotel not wanting more publicity. Certainly doesn’t seem to be worth the money per night. Another informative video 💪👊🏼

Probably one of the most expensive hotels in Cornwall but did you know about it historic past and the hauntings of the location extremely hunted

Really good review, detailed and honest. I think it looked very interesting and with a good design and perhaps a fun and also slightly eerie feeling from the past...?. But dust on the floor and opened water bottles put me a bit off. Great to see Vicky again 🌞 I myself and a friend took a bicycle return ride from Padstow along the Camel Estuary to Bodmin Jail once in 2018, but we didn’t visit the museum. We just had a Bodmin Jail golden ale and sat on the bikes back to Padstow. And I don't think this hotel was renovated yet. We stayed at the Golden Lion in Padstow. Very nice 👍🏻🥰 Thank you for this excellent video. 😊

I'd love to stay and end my days in Bodmin Jail. Would the manager mind if I could have my own staff dressed in designer prison uniforms. What discount would he give me for a ten year lease.
I’m with your lady, that place is really claustrophobic! No way I could stay in there, which makes me wonder how the people coped being imprisoned in the obviously much smaller rooms! Also the crumbs on the floor and the drink being already opened!!!

Totally agree with everything you've said. It's an amazing transformation, lovely friendly reception staff, Grace in particular, a warm welcome. Very quirky experience and amazing refurbishment. Way over priced for what you get and the negative and hostile attitude of the manager along with the over the top cost of the stay would definitely keep me away and if I was to stay there I would not return or recommend the experience. It's a quirky fun venue with a snobby feel and the 2 don't mix. Fantastic vlog though as always and thanks for taking us along for the journey.
I always check for mattress and pillow protectors. It's a must for any hotel, great review. Thank you

If you’ve ever seen any Sly Stallone jail film you know that being monitored by the staff and having a pain in the a** warden (aka the manager) is a must 😂 Interesting video 😁👏🏻

We visited the adjacent Bodmin Jail Museum last November and found it immersive and impactful. Definitely a ‘feeling’ of what had gone on in that place before…..perhaps that sense of history is also in the hotel and that makes it a bit strange. It would be hard for me to stay there in relative luxury and not spare a thought for the poor souls who ended their days in that place. Thanks for a great vlog. x
I couldn’t afford the museum after the £300+ hotel bill.. seriously
Refilling water bottles in a mini bar is very bad practice for any hotel. Hard to prove but that’s what they rely on.
Hotel manager questioning and trying to dictate agenda on filming shows a huge lack of confidence in what they are providing for the money. Any business that wants to do well will be proud of what they do. I won’t be thinking about going here purely because the manager is obviously ashamed of some things and therefore isn’t doing his job properly so why would i want to pay money for something he knows he isn’t delivering to that value?

I went here just before it was turned into a hotel it is very haunted I couldnt go past the first floor had to leave

There are cheaper ways of spending a night in a cell in Cornwall y'know!
How can you go to a jail themed hotel and not wear a orange track suit.

Would be interesting to know the fate of any inmates that shared your cells, like the visit to the Titanic museum, did your passenger survive.
Wish you would of showed us the plaque on the wall in your room what prisoner it was

I think it’s great they allow animals as this is what stops some people having a night away and because of lack of somone able to watch animals it looks very new very nice but think g of prisoners that use to be there doesn’t go well with me lol and. Would maybe pay £150 at most for this
