The coconut is unbelievable useful. The tree of life. I am retiring and moving to Leyte, Leyte this year. I have been thinking much of this. They sell for oil because it’s quick and easy. I share some of your aspirations. I love the fair trade concept. I think processing it for more products should yield greater rewards. I married my Filipina 10 years ago and we want to raise our young son there. I have a diverse background in making things work. I was involved in some form of research and development in chemical processing, pollution reduction or infectious disease as operations/facilities and engineering as a manager for over 30 years. I believe God wanted me to witness this as I am being hesitant and stubborn at times in my obedience to Gods calling for me and my family, so I just thank you for your vulnerability and transparency to share your journey! Maybe you're searching for your roots. Your family immigrated, you didn't grow up in the environment your ancestors did. Genetics are strong. What you're doing is admirable. I always think that second and third world places are being underutilized and under appreciated by the local populations, especially in terms of improving sustainability & infrastructure. "The grass is always greener on the other side." Perhaps we can all thrive, get along, make a better future, if we can find the balance.
