I m a mechanical engineer with more than 4 years of experience but I don't like the nature of my job and I can't switch internally it's almost impossible in such industries iam working .....please suggest me if I want to switch in IT what should I do?

Dear Abhigyan, if you are really interested in digital marketing, you can try your hands on it without leaving/sacrificing your current job, try it and if you feel this is really what you wish to do, make a move else grow in your current role.

Ma'am is it difficult to change fields from Instrumentation Engineer with 1 year of exp to software development? There are no opportunities in my field, and then I took a 2 year gap for self-improvement, learning software development and building projects to showcase my skill.
But I fear my resume itself will be rejected and don't get calls, due to 2 year gap and different field.

I completed my graduation in Journalism and Mass Comm from 2014-2017. Post that i completed 1 year PG Diploma in Office management from YMCA from 2018-19. I worked with a media company as an HR for 4 months but had to drop it because of lockdown. In August i dont know how i got a job as an Accounts Receivables Analyst in a US Healthcare company. Im working from home. I feel its not my cup of tea. and it has the same policy of switching internally only after 18 months. I really cant understand which career should i opt for. I was planning to continue in the same but night shifts and the work is going over my head. Im planning to switch to Marketing or HR. Im quite confused as Ill be getting married in a year and Ive to plan a number of things accordingly. Can you please suggest me a good option?
Dear Konika, Account receivable is obv. not in line with your background, please try to switch to HR internally, if they don't have pure HR opportunity, see if there is any in "recruitment", then you can slowly move to HR internally. Also, in parallel keep applying for the jobs, though covid situation impacted the opportunities, but still there are many who are hiring... just keep trying.

A: Companies don't expect everyone to be a Rockstar when it comes to coding, you should have your basics clear, that's all.

A: Yes, 80% of the people who work in IT sector are non-coders, they are avg. or below avg. at coding, they work on several other profiles which doesn't require much coding knowledge.
And excel is not only about DBMS, excel is primarily used in several other jobs like "Data Analyst", Business analyst and financial analyst etc.
3.Should I study basic coding and crack placement drives and some how get into IT company and change my career after that.

No dear, sales is very domain oriented profile, though your experience in real estate will validate that you have selling skills, but selling cars is a lot different than that, so the employer might not prefer it, specially when there are other who are applying for the same job who are from automobiles background.
If you want to try, then do not leave your real estate job, try in parallel to give interviews for "automobiles", if it hits, then good, if not atleast you have your old job.

Dear Pooja, when ever you are framing your resume for a different role than your real one, do not change the title/designation, the trick is to showcase that tittle is "Programmer analyst" but your responsibilities include 50% of Business Analyst job.
And its absolutely okay.. we all know that sometime when companies lack resources, they do assign additional responsibilities that might not be the part of actual KRA...

Dear Sasidhar, your background is pretty suitable to enter HR through the profile of "Comp & Ben" Manager or Specialist, means the job of handling "Compensation and Benefits" for employees, often Finance background is preferred for this profile, start searching for jobs in this profile and once in, you can try your hands on other HR roles as well..
