It would be pretty pointless to not give both of them those reps. The quality of the players around them matters. Give them equal chance to compete and challenge each other. See who develops chemistry with whom. Hopefully Carr stays healthy and has a successful season while the young guys develop and continously improve. Pretty lucky for young QBs to have a guy like Carr with them as long as the coaches give the time and opportunity to grow into future starters.

For authors, just to throw some names out there: Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson finished the Wheel of Time series for the late Robert Jordan. This is an epic, must read series for any fan of the fantasy genre, IMO. Sanderson had another couple series that I also enjoyed: Mistborn and Stormlight Archives. For sci-fi, Robert F. Hamilton, the commonwealth saga. If you're into audiobooks, the WoT series was read by a husband and wife team of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer, fantastic readers. Unfortunately, they didn't get together and decide how to pronounce the names, so it can be confusing at first until you realize the pronunciations are different. He would read the male parts and she the female parts. John Lee is another great reader, who reads the Hamilton books, or at least some of them. I also enjoyed the Harry Potter books narrated by Jim Dale, also fantastic.

OTA stats don't matter so much, but it is interesting to read about a young quarterback really ripping a pass with a lot of velocity. It shows he has potential with a big league arm.

I don't think Rattler getting 2nd team reps is anything new. It doesn't show progress necessarily by itself because they've been alternating all along. It's just the reporters didn't see it because they only got to see 1 OTA per week, and that was the practice where Haener got the 2nd team reps. Then with the minicamp they got to see all the practices, finally seeing Rattler get the 2nd team reps for the first time.

This is my question if both look good, who do you go with at 2nd? Second question: If both look good, like future starters next year or the year after, what do you do with Dereck Carr, Jake Heaner, and Spencer Rattler? (Three potential starters)
First when Carr contract up he’s done or if we being fr if he doesn’t play well this season and plays like shit he’s most likely gone and Rattler will win the starting job cs Jake sucks

By "super slow development", I hope you meant a comprehensive, thorough, and eventually nuanced approach to the quarterback position in the Kubiak offense. Perseverance through adversity builds character, confidence and competence. The competition is surely helping Haener as well. I am hoping for two starting caliber QBs in the Saints future. Every team needs two serviceable quarterbacks, And as anyone watchin Purdy from his first game can see how this system makes it possible to create a competent effective quarterback even when the NFL scouts were blind to Purdy's potential.

Going to South Carolina might have been his mistake. Imagine going to LSU instead. They had Daniels, of course, but if they didn't have him maybe Rattler could have been the guy. Fun to speculate on what might have been.
If he goes to LSU and sits behind Daniels, he probably doesn't get drafted.
@@JamesSkrmetta In my scenario Daniels would have gone somewhere else. I'm not saying Rattler gets the Heisman, but he would have had a better college career playing behind that line and throwing to those receivers.

All the hype has been on Rattler but Jake Haener is the future. The Saints gave up two 4th round picks and a 7th round pick to draft Jake but didn't give up shit for Rattler. In fact, they had 4 5th round picks so if they were so high on Rattler why didn't they trade up when he dropped all the way to the 5th. They could have traded up to the 3dr or the 4th or even to the top of the 5th but they didn't. Jake goes through his progressions much quicker and is much more accurate. Jake is the future!
So we have 32 teams in the NFL and every NFL team has at minimum 2 back up QB’s plus their starting QB (32 X 3 =96) and what we know is that Derek is a top 12-18 QB in the entire world. Therefore Rattler has to be the number 96th rated QB and Haener is probably the first up Back up QB at #33. Period end of discussion .

Better to get humbled in college then resurrect your career than get destroyed in NFL where you likely won't get another chance because of the urgency(and $) of the NFL. Haener has a chance to be like Chase Daniel, Rattler CAN be like maybe a Doug Flutie type. Flutie gets a bad wrap all he did was win games but circumstances always led to getting benched.

@@JamesSkrmetta True, however, should something happen to Derek (God forbid) Jake will be his replacement. Rattler isn't it. Rattler has struggled in OTA's and Minicamp in shorts and Helmets without any pass rush. IN 7 on 7 and team drills Rattler has thrown multiple interceptions and has badly overthrown wide open receivers in these glorified practices. When the pass rush is on he will look even worse.

Man you know today I found out Derek Carr has a no trade clause in his contract. One could argue that only a person who knows he's trash would demand that....big red flag day 1. And Loomis is a dupe for doing it. So no matter what we stuck with Carr. Dude working super hard to learn a dumbed down offense that mostly runs...
No trade clause are put in contracts so players can decide if they like theyre being traded to, rodgers and brady had those in their contracts, are they trash? Or is this just another dumb cherrypicked issue to try to make carr look bad?
