Didn't even read the title but just from the preview image I knew that was a Joe McNally photo. So many lights, so much color. And the chemistry between Seth and Joe is just great!
Been following Joe for decades....as has my own use of Nikon- since the 70's. So....WHEN I go mirrorless, the Z8 is the rig. Add a grip and....you still SAVE over $1000 vs the Z9....and has 98% of EVERYTHING the 9 has. -still a D4 dude
I hold my camera the way Joe does when he is chatting because of him. Heck, I shoot Nikon because of Joe. I bought it from Adorama because of Joe. You might say I am a big fan of Joe McNally.
"Did we go off track?" 😂 Excellent video, I love watching Seth and Joe. The whole team did a great job. If I wasn't already a Canon shooter, I'd consider this.
Fun presentation. Seth and Joe could be the opening act at the club 🙂 Both have a good presentation style. Looking forward to adding the Z8, it will work well with my Z9. Both are great tools. Kind of like having two different size hammers each do the same job but each are best for different situations
Hey Seth !! Great video (of course). I've been waiting to get a mirrorless.. this new Z 8 looks like the one I'm going to get, when its released that is. Thanks for the video. Thanks so much for what you do.
They speak of internal charging and simultaneous pc connectivity like some breakthrough. While a dummy battery with a Sony NP-F adapter existed for at least 10 years to solve this problem. The same adapter with a cheap noname Sony battery can be used to power an external monitor and/or a LED light.
Thanks! This is the first review that addresses one of my two questions. Good to see that HSS isn't an issue with the camera. Now if someone could only answer my other question about rolling shutter and how Nikon addressed this. It was minimal in the Z9, so I assume it's minimal in the Z8...but would love to see a test.
I had a feeling there would be a Z8. Looks like a fabulous camera at a more affordable/doable price. I'll have to save up my pennies. I like the idea of it being smaller than the Z9. My hands are just not big. Thanks for the review!
How is the AF tracking performance? I've seen a couple reviews that say it isnt as accurate as some of the comparable Canon models and that it tends to not be as "sticky" on its focus points. Does it have issues with backfocusing on objects with more contrast? Ive had issues with this on my Nikon d750.
Your D750 does not even have phase detect af in lv mode. Even the Z6 has way better af than D750 in lv mode, and Z8, Z9 is another league above Z6. It can even track bird in flight in most situations.
Quick Question, please . . Z7 ii Image Quality : Is the image quality of the Nikon Z7ii equal to the image quality of the Z8? Or does The Z8 produce more lovely images than the Z7ii? I understand there are more aspects to these fine cameras that define what they really are, but for this question, I would like to concentrate solely on Image Quality. Thank You Very Much.
Question. I have a z5 and I can do power delivery and cam use from one cable. Isn't this a downgrade? I know there might be a quality sacrifice but Z5 output is well and truly good enough for most
Wait for 15 years Nikon Z8 cameras still do not have flip screen to vary-angle selfies, body size and weight are big and heavy, I have to change to Canon for R6II camera which is lighter and have vary-angle flip screen.
I am sure Nikon will work on the z6iii and z7iii next year. I have the z5 and it's absolutely perfect for my needs, but the z8 offers the extra oomph and 8k video which would benefit me immensely. You are probably wanting a z6iii because of the price point and you don't need the 8k video?

It costs $4000. With a vertical grip it will cost about $4500. Nikon Z9 costs $5500. There is only one grant difference, and Z8 is not offering anything significantly different. It is like the Jr version of Z9. Why wouldn't I get a Z9, instead? So... Considering this, it is too expensive. Note: For instance, there was a reason of choice, a preference between D6 and D850: such as, speed vs more MP. Here I don't see such a conceptual or practical difference. Do I miss something?
As a Nikon ambassador, not sure Joe will feel comfortable with this question, so let's say this one's for Seth: How do you think the Z8 will impact the sales of the Z9? To put it less mildly, it seems the main difference between both cameras is two grand.
Did the host get paid for number of words spoken per minute? It felt like he was reading the fine prints after a medicine commercial, or a finance brokerage company.
Flagship? It's a word the camera makers use to manipulate your brains and spend in their new toys. Well, I had to stop this video because I am happy with my old camera, I shoot portraits and I don't need a lot, if you have creativity you can create Images not just pictures, when other photographers see my work, they make me laugh when they ask, do you have a z9?, hahaha. Didn't even read the title but just from the preview image I knew that was a Joe McNally photo. So many lights, so much color. And the chemistry between Seth and Joe is just great!
Two legends for the price of one. If Nikon can deliver this without stock issues then this camera will be I hope a game changer for them.

We all need more McNally in our lives!
Awesome! Now I just have to wait for all those Z7II owners to trade up so I can get a good deal on a Z7II!!
I'm keeping mine, even though I shoot a lot of wildlife! :)
@@WatchmanNiel I'll sell you mine...as soon as my Z8 arrives LOL!
Right there with you tbh 🤣🤣😭😭
The two USB-C ports is nice. I love the build of it as well, always cool to see Joe at work. Great Job Seth. I love the camera Knods Fernando.
Awesome presentation! Thanks to you both. Can't wait 'til my Z8 arrives.
Joe McNally u are the one who made me love photography since 2010 ❤
Awesome video Seth. Love how you get the best guests when new products drop, Rudy Winston, Joe McNally! Wow!
Z8! A few months back I was almost ready to upgrade to the Z9 but I couldn't quite pull the trigger; but now this is the perfect entry point for me.
Joe McNally always entertains with his lighting setups!

Joe is so amazing and I preordered my Z8 through Adorama this morning. I’m so excited!!
Joe should have his own show.
The camera should do well if there no long delay. Thanks for having Joe back. Awesome person.
Thank you, Joe and Seth!
Pre-Ordered mine today!!!!
Just wondering what I will do with my Z6ll now, that I preordered. Thinking I will next to nothing. Can’t wait for the Z8. Great video
You guys are amazing !! Thank you for always inspiring us

Pre ordered this morning can’t wait
Will it be possible to record video to external SSD via the USB-C ports? That would be amazing for videographers.
E ele y vídeo .thank you
Great video Seth!
I think I saw somewhere that Nikon was putting out a trade-in program towards the Z model. Is that still happening?

Good to see you Joe. I have your book entitled "The Moment It Clicks". I really enjoyed it and won't part with it. 🙂
How does it perform with flash? specifically HSS? any issues? about to pull the trigger but NEED HSS to work without issue.
Thank you for your video. I have a question. Why the flash sync speed is only 200/s and can be compensated by high sync speed. Thank you.
Question. I have a z5 and I can do power delivery and cam use from one cable. Isn't this a downgrade? I know there might be a quality sacrifice but Z5 output is well and truly good enough for most
I think the Z8 is both a D700 and D800 equivalent! It is in pair with the flagship (even closer than D700 was).
The buffer is superior on the Z9 for stills as well as the length of 8k recording.
I'm really going to do some serious work to save up for this camera.
It would be a serious game changer compared to my Z6
What if you want to shoot slower than 20fps, like say 8-12 fps? What are the options for choosing your own preferred rate, between single and 20fps?
Wait for 15 years Nikon Z8 cameras still do not have flip screen to vary-angle selfies, body size and weight are big and heavy, I have to change to Canon for R6II camera which is lighter and have vary-angle flip screen.
This was cool.
I’d love to hear more about why Joe felt the Z7ii wasn’t up to shooting Olympic events?
No stacked sensor, so likely encountered rolling shutter, not enough frames per second, perhaps too much screen blackout
too slow in every regard.
Crikey, its pricey. We really need a z6iii now too.
How does it compare to the new Sony tracking?
You guys.
On the Nikon D850 you have a FN2 My Menu button, does the Z8 have the My Menu where you can assign various Menu Features to access quickly?
There's one on the Z50, so I'm assuming yes.
Some reviewers are concerned about the overheating of the cards on Z8. Is that a concern? Is Nikon going to address it?
It depend on your cards, my sandisk cfe card generate much more heat than my angelbird card, while also slower.
Boy! You two fellas 🤣🤣🤣
#Legends
Is it better than 2 S5IIs?

Can I use my classic 85mm 1.4 with this camera ?
No. Not if it's the D model.

So it has two cf express type b slots? or is it one cf express and one SD?
no it has 1 CF-B and 1 SD so mixed slots different cards
@@Adorama so bummed literally the only reason I'll be passing 😭 if it had two cf express like the Z9 I woulda pre-ordered

Love me some Joe McNally, but tattoo bro was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Oh am I…bro?
