    This is terrific! My son is allergic to soy but he's vegan so this is important! Also - there's a You Tuber called Chef Nico who
    has a terrific looking recipe on baked tofu --bakes in a parchment with lemon slices and olives, etc. Looks fabulous! I'm going to try his recipe using this.

    I have a soyajoy milk maker, which has a heat feature, but I don't eat soy so was looking for a soy less tofu recipe, and glad I found

    Interesting that you can make tofu from other things than soy beans. The second method was definitely quicker than the first so would probably be my choice (I’m all for making things simpler). Thanks for the tutorial :)

    Great presentation! Been making the chickpea tofu on it's own for a year now. It is wonderful for salted and sweet deserts, it might go well for a vegan mayo as well (just add rice/apple vinegar mustard and salt) Will do my next batch with oats and chickpea flour. Thank you again for this great presentation!

    For the Thermomix kind, if you want to make it sweet, melt palm sugar or brown sugar with shredded ginger to make a syrup to eat it as a dessert. Delicious.

    Have you thought about adding some garlic powder and onion powder to the mixture before cooking it. Or add some smoked paprika to give it some flavor

      Yes, these are all good suggestions, you could add some spices to this. I just made a more neutral tofu as it can then be marinated and flavoured as desired.

      Thank you! Taste wise they were both OK, only the oat one you could use for desserts, the besan flour one would definitely be for savoury dishes. For the ease of making it I would definitely go for besan flour one next time. We rubbed some with spices on the sliced tofu and baked, some were marinated in BBQ sauce and baked. I preferred the marinated version.

      You can try, but the resulting cheesecake might have a slight pea taste, perhaps you can mask it with vanilla and lemon juice should help. Let me know if it works out well 🙂

    I need to try this recipe with the gram flour! For whatever reason I tried something similar but it didn't coagulate :( it just stayed watery

      That's the only two soy free recipes I came across so far, but you could try making it from cashew or sunflower seed milk set with carageenan powder, I might experiment with this in the future 🙂

      You are welcome. No, almond flour would not work here. You can use split pea flour, that would work.

    If i were to cook the traditional way and keep it on the stove longer, (or shoter), would i get products similar to soft vs extra firm tofu?

      If you cooked it for longer, it might start really burning on the bottom of the pan and you might have difficulty pouring the mass into a container afterwards and leveling it out.

      I always use either sea salt or pink himalayan salt, ground up fine.

      Probably not traditionally but it seems to improve the texture of a standard chickpea tofu.
