... On the other hand, his armor is also really cool

So when ranni gone, his cursed finally snap, no more master, no more purpose, he bound to suffer like radahn if we dont save him, kill him there is in fact the best thing we could have done for him

Blaidd was a total badass. Even with mere drops of his sanity left, he STILL remained loyal to Ranni. I think it's interesting they made Blaidd a half wolf. Wolves, and dogs alike, are extremely loyal creatures. I think that's a very clever way of reflecting Blaidd's undying loyalty to Ranni, as a dog is undyingly loyal to their owners

The description of Blaidd's armor says this:
Well-worn black gauntlets of the man-wolf Blaidd.
Blaidd, who served as Ranni's shadow, was a loyal ally who would defy destiny itself if it would have him turn upon his Lady.
When you talk to Iji after putting Blaidd down, he essentially says he underestimated Blaidd's determination to resist the curse that would turn him against Ranni.
My interpretation of the dead assassins outside of Ranni's rise is they came to assassinate Ranni, and Blaidd held on to the bit of his humanity that drove him to protect her; thus slaying the assailants.
I almost wonder if Blaidd could have broken free of the madness of his own accord had the player not intervened with him in his mad-stricken state. Though of course, there's no way in-game to save him.
The player is so desparate to have 2 maidens and stole blaidd’s, you even get to steal blaidd’s belongings and identity...
What curse does he have?
The player is to blame. If everybody just chilled out, Blaidd would have woken up with a massive hangover the next day realizing he's getting too old to slaughter so much when going out.
That's like starting an argument with a totally smashed friend instead of waiting until he's sober.
@@Reni3r no, once he goes mad he would not be able to gain control ever again. The only thing keeping him sane was ranni, she was not present at the tower so he gave in.
@@dgrant3062 The two-fingers placed a curse on Blaidd that stated if Ranni rejected her duty as an Empyrean, Blaidd would go mad. I assume turning him into an opposition for Ranni at that point. At his death, however, he clearly takes actions to protect Ranni, even as crazed as he was.
A fight that broke my heart personally. As soon as I saw Blaidd on his knees, his sword in hand and surrounded by corpses, I knew something was wrong.
Ranni's quest is for me one of the best in the game and she and Blaidd are among my favorite characters from this universe. Their story is both touching, beautiful and sad. Two childhood friends, almost like brother and sister, but both linked by a terrible fatality, that of a demigoddess and her shadow. And despite his duty and the madness that was eating away at him little by little, Blaidd remained faithful to his lady, until the end. I personally chose to marry with Ranni and begin the Age of the Stars, so that the sacrifices of Blaidd and Iji were not in vain.
The reason why Blaidd went crazy is because Blaidd is a shadow beast, the same as Godfrey's Serosh and Marika's Maliketh. The shadow beasts are created by the Two Fingers to guide and protect the gods and demi-gods, of which Ranni is an empyrean. The problem is, Ranni has betrayed the two fingers, which is causing a split in Blaidd, who is ever loyal to Ranni but still a potential puppet to the Two Fingers. Iji is aware of this, and locks Blaidd in a gaol, trying to free Ranni from him. Iji, as well, is a possible puppet, and thus wears a mirror helm to block out the influence of the Greater Will.
When Rannis betrayal was fully recognized by the player acquiring the finger-slaying blade, the Two Fingers sent an assassin, disguised as a Blaidd lookalike named the Baleful Shadow, to kill Ranni, which we dispose of.
Meanwhile, Ranni accomplishes her mission. She kills a Two Finger, possibly the very last one in the actual world, and ascends to be one with the stars that design her fate.
Because of her ascension, Blaidd, still torn between the two, loses his mind. It isn't clear whether the black knife assassins at Rannis tower attacked him and caused his mental break, or whether he brought them with him under the control of the Two Fingers and managed to come to his senses long enough to turn on them. What is known, though, is that shadow beasts are part of their master, so with Blaidds master ascending rather than outright dying, this may have caused his sanity break.
Iji is also attacked and killed by Black Knife Assassins. The assassins are all Numen women; the same race as Marika. Ranni indirectly caused all of the events surrounding the Black Knives and the entire war, but that's a comment for another video.
If Ranni got a shadow beast did Miqella and Malaria?
@@gasmonkey1000 Shadowbound beasts are given to Empyreans according to the lore, so it would seem that yes, Miquella and Melania each would have had one. However, we never see them, nor are they ever mentioned by name. Much like Ranni, Miquella and Melania have abandoned the Golden Order, so it would seem that their shadows are either dead or abandoned (possibly having gone mad). Maybe they might show up as interactable characters and/or bosses in a future DLC. There is another Empyrean known as the Gloam-eyed Queen, but we don't really know anything about her, other than the fact she was responsible for the creation of the Godskins, and was defeated by Marika and Maliketh. We don't know if this queen had a shadow, but supposedly a man named Vargram seeked to become her shadow. He never succeeded, and we don't really know if he could have succeeded. Some of the dialogue and item descriptions in game imply that shadows are born the way they are, and one does not simply "become" a shadow.
Except that Serosh isn't a shadowbound beast. Shadowbound beasts belong to Empyreans which Godfrey isn't.

Guts reference in blaidd and then maybe a casca reference in ranni because shes of her being a doll and the little doll version of her you find. just like in cascas dreams near the end of berserk
To me Ranni is a mix between what Casca meant to Guts and Schierke's design.
This game is just absolutely seeping with love for Berserk and I think that's beautiful

The wolf man is the most chill npc in the game, I really don't like the idea of him going mad for no reason. Apparently he aggros because "He's a curse set upon Ranni by the two fingers" which doesn't make sense, he's a childhood vassal/retainer. Would've appreciated some dialogue as to why on earth he invades in the eternal city
Ranni no longer has any use for him.
In fact, she loathes her connection to the former godly regime that is the Two Fingers and she wishes to sever it completely so that she can at least create her own Age of Stars.
I think the two-fingers got desperate when Ranni got more powerfull, so they forced Blaiid to revert into a baleful shadow
the wolf amn is madeby the two fingers to serve ranni, there is a optional part of the quest where iji tries and lock him up, so his "order 66" programing dosent activate and try to kill ranni, it fails, he escapes and you find him in the tower triying to kill ranni, (he dosent want to do this, it's being forced upon him, its the unluckiness of being made by the two figners and then suporting someone who wants to end their reing) , you stop him from killing ranni.
There is a pair of corpses near him that looks like assasins. I guess he was blinded by the rage thinkin they killed Ranni (bc shes gone) or something like that.
@@themainman2827 Those are Black Knife Assassins, the ones that killed Godwyn. Rani herself was the one who stole death and imbued their black knives with it for that plot, so it's a bit strange that they'd suddenly turn on her. Maybe they were sent to mercy kill Blaidd?
When i first met him i thought "hmmm black armor...,half-wolf... this dude is going to be an edgy asshole" but then i heard him speaking and i loved him as much as i did with siegmeyer.

I summoned a Mimic Tear +10 for this (and pretty much every fight that I’ve been in after I got it). Let’s just say that being hit by four katanas at the same time doesn’t do the target any favors.
I also use it. It's so damn tanky, and not to mention strong.
Yeah ive been using that too. Definitely the strongest thing ive found in the game so far. He usually ends up doing 1/4-1/3 of bosses’ health and is obviously a great distraction.
I love mimic tear, it’s just a customizable summon
Try doing that in NG+7 where you can't really be overleveled. Tho idk if elden ring has ng+, just assuming it does

Man I dunno what I did wrong with this questline. I killed the Baleful Shadow, went and talked to Iji, but when I go to Ranni's rise, Blaidd is nowhere to be found.

You need to get the Dark Moon ring from raya lucaria library, then put the ring on Rannis finger in the cathedral of manus seles, then you get the dark moon greatsword, then you can find blaidd at rannis rise

Its actually malenia helmet from malenia armor set, you can purchase it from the lady beside two fingers in the round table after you beat malenia later

The only thing I don't like about Elden Ring - which is now my favorite game of all time - is that there is no way to save Bliadd; such a loyal and steadfast friend. He deserved so much more than what he got. He is the best boy.
But she didnt throw them away she was powerless against when it came to their control over others like blaidd. He couldnt kill his body and still survive like she did. She truly did care about them and in a way the path she was persuing is the only way she can think of helping end their suffering in trying to resist the fingers and the golden order. She want to rid the control the fingers and the order have on the world and its inhabitants and thus creating an age where everybody decides their own fate and decisions while only slightly being guided by the stars just to give them a way to go if they are lost. It is called a dark age because of its uncertainty in the future unruled by a single power and thus is not predetermined. She is trying to save blaidd and everybody else by setting them free and making sure those yet to come do not have to go through the same thing they did.
Exactly, ill never do her quest, she's a sellfish c***, and im tired of the simps, i swear if it was the other way around, blaidd killing the 2 fingers and you having to kill ranni, all those simps would be crying, dont understand why the writers didn't make a quest that we can save him.

I’m currently doing White Witch’s quest along with Blaidd’s so I was wondering is this fight an end to his quest???
Ranni's quest ultimately involves her going against the will of the Two Fingers, since Blaidd was given to Ranni by the two fingers, he's kind of like a sleeper agent to keep Ranni in line. Even though Blaidd says he follows her willingly and will never betray her, he is still at the will of the fingers and is compelled to do as they command, even if it goes against his own beliefs. So at the end of Ranni's quest, you need to put down Blaidd so the Fingers can't use him to interfere with Ranni's, and your, destinies.
That's my interpretation of it anyway

When I knew what fight I was getting into. I played the boss theme of sif while in the battle. Just to make this more sadder.
I beat Elden Ring with the most basic ending, and I'm not sure I want to endure any ng+ runs. I think I am Done.
... but ... if there was a Secret Ending in which I could have Blaidd survive and standing at my side by the throne at the end as my knight, I would play through the game 3 more times just to get it.

Instead of running from his power stance + jump, just roll into him and then I would follow up with my bloody slash with my katana. Rinse and repeat I beat him using 2 flasks to heal

And go back to open the Magic gate after killing Astes, clear that etc etc then go back to Ranni’s tower and blaidd should be there

@@str8apem88 Those games, Sekiro and Bloodborne are basically the testing ground of the devs team to test their ideas, new methods. Then take the best of those games, things that work for them, improve from it to create this game. You just need to search your memory a bit to understand what I mean.

I killed him using Ranni's Greatsword. Not a fitting end to this loyal companion
If there was ever a DLC I could wish for, it would be a long, brutal exodus to save Blaidd.
And then I show up and put that ring on Ranni's finger... and then Blaidd smacks her upside the head, knocking off her big ass hat comedically.
