I have seen bread being used for a spigot bearing before... I wonder what was going through the mind of the first person who thought "fuck it, I'm going to get this bearing out with bread" then the surprise when it actually worked 😂😂😂

Well done bloke now you are part of the club nothing better then spinning spanners on your own ride now you should have a lot more confidence getting to know your 4x4 inside and out fixing and modifying on ya own savings $$

Hell yeh! Great work! I think the 80 needs a sneaky Stihl sticker on it to keep the vibes going haha

Well done you've taken me back many years remembering my shit back in the days. As for your cooling system either use pre-mixed coolant or get yourself concentrated and mix with either demineralised, Distilled or rainwater to get maximum life out of everything in the cooling system it's overkill but in the long run you'll be great full you did it.
I use Distilled in my 45 series done over 100k pulled out the water pump and no corrosion, tap water has chemicals in it that don't agree with alloy and rubber.
    Just my 2cents worth.

Different washer thickness for different pistons and fuel pump. Early or late models had different thickness

Using sealant with an oring is very telling of the sort of "engine builder" that's been in there previously.....interesting. Also those thick injector seat washers are definitely incorrect and could possibly be causing detonation higher up in the injector seat than would normally occur if they were seated properly

Good way to start the morning after walking up early. (6am)
    Nice save with the injector.
What the heck would be the new method? We were taught about plastigauge this year at college.

    • @Beng177
      @Beng177 Před 10 měsíci

I'd guess cause most new engines are such tight tolerance it's not accurate enough to measure with plastigauge - then again most new engines are built to be replaced not rebuilt. The proper way to to it would be to measure the big end and the crank separately. But the old toyota service manuals say to use plastigauge anyway.

I noticed you didn't record changing the harmonic balancer pully over. Can be a challenge put 490nm torque on the bolt. Was there any visible damage to the bearings.

Chassis grease in the spigot hole - not bread! WTF? Who thought that up?

  • @Beng177

See if there is a setting for frequency on your 'dodgy light camera' and set it to 50hz not 60hz. it'll get rid of that dodgy lighting if it has the setting haha

I run 2x GoPros and it only lets me change the setting on one of them. been having problems with the other one so just have it as a spear at them moment. hoping to save up and get something a bit better soon

Engines out, bearings look average… hmm sorry bud but it’s rebuild time.
Put it back in like that and no doubt it will be out again before you know it
