I've had this video scripted for a while now and I had a lot of fun finally making the product out of it, I learned a lot of cool stuff about editing more efficiently while doing so as well. I don't think I explicitly said this in the video, but yeah, all forms of cheating are bad but some are less egregious than others - namely abusing in-game bugs. This was a cool trip down memory lane, remembering all of the stuff that people did to get an unfair advantage. It really made me think, 2020 CS was a time huh. so much bullshit surrounding everything. Like and all that stuff for more csgo history, i like making these videos.

bangor video, never used leetify but thought about using it recently, gives me a good reason to use it now I guess.
i have a cs2 account if youd like to use it
Bro I got a malware warning. Don't visit the page. It's a bitcoin scam.
@@Puxi Its not
man i feel really bad for the ibuypower game casters, they had to justify why the top team was suddenly brain damaged
im still severely disappointed in them. SKIN?! They thew over some fucking skins. Maybe they do have some brain damage
pretty sure they each only got like $200 as well lol
just basic NA cs
I live in the city of industry a city of warehouse and manufacturing. There is a car wrapped iBuyPower outside. I entered the building when I worked there and met the boss who is sad with how cs went with their decision to ban the organization. 😢
@@doneyeah but it was also 2014 and pro teams were barely paid if ever
Another small thing to mention, is when players use crowd reactions at large tournaments to gather information. Like the famous example where simple on overpass was using the crowd to hear somebody in B construction, and realizing that it was unfair, made a noise to give away his position. Or the radar bug through smoke.
Right. Completely missing from this video.
“Comprehensive”
This was initially included in the script of this video, but I cut it in the final product. Not sure why actually, I think it wouldve added a good bit, sometimes i make last-minute decisions like that while editing that i regret later. If you're interested in my take, here is the cut script segment:
Recently there’s been a lot of buzz about crowd cheating due to the Rio major and the crowd doing some not-so-subtle things to help the Brazilian teams. The crowd yelling and getting excited when something is about to happen is something that has happened for a long time, and is unfortunately something that is not possible to fix without eliminating an important part of LAN cs. (Rain using crowd clip) It is common now for teams from especially passionate nations to cheat for their teams (Danes, Brazillians, and Russians namely). Nobody ever really gets banned due to this, but there have been a lot of measures to try to limit it. However, I have heard Launders point out that no matter how effective noise-cancelling headphones are, the crowd causes vibration which are sent throughout the stadium, and there really isnt anything you can do to stop that without not having a crowd at all. Which would suck.
@@PenguinCS2All good I get it, thanks for the reply!
Yeah like cheatkindar used the crowd 2 times against apeks on major but it thankfully backfired both times
It used to be common for teams to be facing each other on stage, and some players learned that they could throw a flash into an area and look at the other players' faces to see if they lit up lmaooo
thats funny
Epic strategy.
You forgot about the biggest cheater in the world, Penguin.
😆
Cheating the algorithm with his killer content
Clara?
that's reserved for flusha
I think it’s important to note that BIG was NOT part of the meeting to not use the jump bug!! So they did not know about the agreement
And they didnt use it against SK if i remember right
They were part of the meeting (according to the HLTV article "Teams come to agreement not to use "crouch jump""), but this was after their matches against Faze and Cloud9. But after the day when they fought C9, all players came together, ruled against the bug and noone, including BIG against SK, used it anymore.
@@kinasch +1, the video put BIG in kind of a worse light there (idk if it makes a difference, but still)
I swear, if I had an exam on this matter and all these cases I'd probably at least get 85% score... but still fun to watch it again lol
the dev's from 'DEF CON 25 - Mark Williams, Rob Stanley - If You Give a Mouse a Microchip' were featured in a Swedish documentary about cheating in e-sports where LAN admins of major events admitted they dont check player peripherals for cheats
yea okay but it wasnt any advanced cheats, just simple stuff for DOOM like iunlimmmited ammo
@@MusHrOOmsonaCid the hacker dev didn't put actual CSGO cheats in the tournament PC because they said there was a ethical problem with doing that, instead they put a hack that displayed a red square on the CSGO client just to demonstrate that they could easily do the same thing
it was proof that there is zero legitimacy in a tournament that lets hardware brought by players connect to the event PCs
peripherral cheats are indeed an issue. I remember there was a mouse that could be programmed with recoil patterns. And pretty much any "gaming" mouse of the last 15-20 years is able to save macros. Could be something simple like an autoclicker to get the perfect firerate from semi auto weapons, but also something more complicated like a bhop script or name macro.
And they're hard to detect, especially when they're saved on the mouse itself and not as driver profile.
@@MusHrOOmsonaCidthat doesn’t mean anything at all. If you can access memory and change memory, you can make whatever cheat you want. It’s called a proof of concept.
I think it’s important to mention that M0nesy showed his smoke to the tournament admins and asked if he could use it, and was told he could. That wasn’t cheating, just a bad call from admins
What hurts to see the most is players cheating in online qualifiers, just so they could get on LAN at a tournament and have an HLTV profile to have something to show for themselves. Whilst there is no confirmed case of someone getting away with this, the amount of people attempting this is nothing to scoff at
no mention of the head bug? when you sometimes spawn in the air but everyone else sees you on the ground, and as long as you dont jump your camera remains in the air allowing you to see above walls. it's super effective on mirage ct and nuke t
Well the video is about cheating in PRO CSGO, as far as we know, that bug hasn’t been used in the pro scene. That being said, I do know about that bug, hopefully it’s fixed in CS 2
@@xLunah_ I'm pretty sure I saw it being abused a couple times in older pro days. On inferno CT and on nuke T. i don't remember which match ups tho
Should be important to note that m0nesy's one way smoke was deemed legal when he showed it to an admin. Whether that admin was aware of how it was not a regular one way smoke or not, they did allow it for use and Ilya stopped after he was told to, seems kinda unfair to include it here and deem it as "cheating" but ah well. Same goes for BIG's jump crouch bug, pretty sure they stopped using it after the pro players agreed not to; iirc they talked about it *because* BIG used the bug
They agreed not to use it before, BIG just weren’t at the meeting
@@Alf763 BIG were at the meeting and agreed not to use it, the clip seen in the video on inferno was the reason why the agreement was put into place
@@3erBMWavg German team
1:35 its even more supricing when you understand just how shitty the cheat was. Like all the features were really basic and it wasnt even private cheat.
It's not surprising when you consider that he was Indian, the people known for shitty tech scams
indians
Are you 100% sure BIG used to jump bug after it was agreed upon not to use it? I might be wrong but I remember the players meeting up after the group stage and everyone including BIG agreed not to use the bug.
You're right after the meeting BIG stopped using it. I think the meeting was after the second round of swiss and they even won their BO3 against Faze without the bug
What are you talking? You can clearly see at 4:21 that someone from BIG is using said bug against Faze?! @@krabbels2217
I just looked back at the initial tweet Magisk posted of the teams meeting on 17th July 2017. Big did not attend.
BIG's 3rd match of swiss on the following day (2-0) was a BO1 on Inferno again. BIG continued using the bug for the entirety of their CT side, see tabseN & LEGIJA POV.
FaZe went 0-3 and did not play a BO3.
@@krabbels2217
BIG only used the jump bug prior to the gentlemen’s agreement. It’s untrue to say they used it afterwards
There was a team using cheats to win against Bad News Eagle a few days ago, on the IEM Open Qualifier.
Their coach, Krystal, did a stream showing how blatant it was, and it was indeed.
Sad to see there is still a lot of cheaters out there left unaccountable.
damn really? which match was it
anyone can play in open qualifiers by signing up its not considered pro cs
I remember there being this cheating in LOL where the other team could actually see the big screen in the stadium 😂
I mean this happened at iBP Masters 2019. There were loads of issues with the tourney but players being able to look at the big screen was one of them
i remember that s1mple once called a tech time out because he could see the in game radar through a reflection when playing on stage
I like the topic of this video, but I feel it fell too short. There's no mention of cases like Jamppi, v$m, or even S1mple's ESL ban, or the time Dosia switched accounts to play in the name of a kazakh player
Esl bans really dont matter ewire was a piece of shit
"comprehensive"
thank you for talking about how LDLC also used a boost most people leave that part out when talking about it
why didnt he show it
@@thankyou4328 not sure but it was a boost on the other side of the map you can find it if you look for it
@@thankyou4328 Not one video has ever shown it i stg.
I think cause it doesn't look nearly as crazy as the olofboost. The olofboost only actually broke a weird rule about enemies not being able to see you on the boost while you could see them, that was the only rule they could find actually in the rulebook to use against the olofboost. The boost LDLC used also broke that rule but wasn't as insane looking as the oiofboost
@@joshok7059 no reason not to show it and let the audience decide. it would have helped this video not be the most basic rundown of events possible.
what about that time when cloud9 used adderall during katowice 2015
You forgot to mention the prevalent use of performance enhancing drugs early in the CSGO competetive scene. Nowadays it is banned, but there used to be no rules about this. Members of Cloud9 have admitted that they all used ritalin in order to perform better. They defended this that they wanted to be the best possible team and they technically did not do anything illegal (other than possibly buying the prescription drug on the black market as they are not diagnosed with ADHD).
So how do the drugs work? Like did it make them focus better?
adderall scandal
@@Eric-vs2he that's exactly it. Helps them focus better, makes them more alert, helps them focus at peak performance longer.
It's why people abuse these drugs to pull all nighters studying.
Im stuck somewhere in italy for 2 weeks and i dont know what to do. At least i can watch a new penguin video!
The funny thing about a cheater naming his cheat word.exe is that Microsoft Word's executable name is winword.exe. This is an artifact from the days when MS Word was made for MS-DOS... there the name was word.exe. Then they made a Windows version and gave it a distinct filename so you could have both installed at once (or maybe they were both bundled together, not sure).
You forgot to include the main reason why people thought Kioshima cheated. He emptied his inventory after kqly got banned
idk why but i really liked the post vid outro ramble. little update, little peak behind the curtain, keeps the videos feeling organic imo. anyway great work! well edited, well written, well spoken story
aye, just wanted to say i really appreciated that flashbang transition you did, that was the sort of "thats neat" that makes you exhale through your nose slightly harder. keep it up
Keep up the hard work, I could tell the difference in editing in this video compared to others I have watched
Eller NaVI a few times caught having livestreams on, during Covid, or looking at the big screen..
The whole olofboost thing is so stupid. The actual reason they deemed it unfair was due to a few pixel out of bounds were invisible. It becomes even more stupid when LDLC did a similar boost themselves. Fnatic found a legit advantage and out thought LDLC, but due to them complaining so much they said they had to replay the match, and Fnatic didn’t entertain it. Still the most undeserved major win in CS history
EXACTLY! To group it in with genuine cheaters seems very disrespectful.
Yeah, it wasn't even against the rules.
100% agree. That was never cheating
The fact that Valve put up a sing on the map as memory shows how legendary that moment was.
This barley scratching the surface. So many pros used to aim lock like crazy. Dan M. Legend.
I am surprised Flusha wasn't mentioned at all in this video
Love the videos man keep up the great quality.
I really enjoy your videos man, keep up the great work!
So happy to see your success penguin, been here since the begining ❤️
A Comprehensive History of KNOWN Cheating in Pro CSGO. There is so much more going on.
There was also an exploit astralis used. There were very specific settings on some nvidia GPU's that gave them unfair advantages around smokes.
underrated as heck man, about 100k views is pretty good but you deserve millions
inb4 ohnepixel watches it and tens of clips channel reupload this video
i love your content. keep up the amazing work!
The Olaf boost didnt even utilize the bug that made it illegal. It was illegal because part of what you could see had an invisible wall allowing you to see through it, but that vision was never used or impacted the round, when the other team legitimately used the bug.
didn't the whole ibp get unbanned in 2019 or something i remember the news around that time.
Not from valve events.
In game glitches should not be punished so hard.
Rampart use of them should force dev to make patch.
For the amount of subscribers you have, your content is honestly incredible
Great bro but KQLY's tag is pronounced "quickly" 😂 love the vid anyway as usual, keep it up !
This is a history of people who got caught cheating. Normally 80ish % of cheaters never get caught. You missed the aderall scandal and the workshop hack.
Can you summarize what happened in this scandal? (Or send a link explaining)
@@rhemisnip I can't send links here. Essentially it came out in 2015, that the whole cloud 9 team was taking Adderall to improve performance. It's still abundand in eSports. It's an open secret.
@@rhemisnipI think he is talking about the fact that lot of if not most progamers are on performance enhancing drugs like aderall in order to stay focused during the long hours of playing on tournaments.
if LDLC made any attempt to find the olof boost before round 28 nobody would be calling it broken cuz you can literally counter that boost with 1 player in T spawn and it takes 4 CTs 30 seconds to set it up. i'll fight anyone on this one. that boost is a once a half gimmick at best if it never got removed.
shoutout to my man Flusha, for no particular reason at all.
NUNCA ESQUEÇA DO LENDÁRIO ASPX não foi no GO mas seu " se eu tivesse xitado teria ajdahjkasdhlkdjhlckj ali?" é inesquecivel
"Ia ou não ia?"
in Brazil we had the legendary ASPX case
"Você acha que se eu tivesse xitado eu jahfkejfojrkwkr mirava ali?
(translate:)
"Do you think that if i was cheating i jfkskfnksjfkdkd would aim there?"
It was such a funny interview of him trying to justify blatant cheats... and it was also heartbreaking for his friend.
This year he was playing the open qualifier in EU for an event, and he faced FalleN's Furia.
What made it even more funny, was that he said that if he faced Fallen he would destroy him bc he wasn't cheating.
Final Result: Furia 16x2 new ASPX team
The player agreement for PGL wasn't until after the tournament started but BiG still didn't say they would but they did stop doing after that.
Where's AKUMA cheating scandal?
i guess it's more of a CIS known thing
shout out to the most wholesome CS YT creator!
what a great video again from penguin
5:00 small correction. The agreement only happend after BIG used it to qualify. Some other teams also used it but not as mutch as BIG
>no flusha
not THAT comprehensive, huh
Great video and editing. GG
Good stuuff as always Mr. Penguin!
I think its important to add that BIG wasnt part of the meeting because nobody asked them to join. After the discussion everyone agreed and BIG went on to beat SK on Inferno 16:14 WITHOUT the jump bug. Otherwise, nice video - keep up the good work!
It's a good day when you upload.
I’ll be honest in thinking the side smokes were an intended feature, I used it all the time and was never called out or ever heard anyone get called out.
I have seen this clip so many times that I might write a thesis on this.
8:40 Swag was unbanned, he just chose not to continue playing professionally and Skadoodle wasn't even banned because he didn't profit off that game.
he said that skadoodle wasn't banned 8:33 and about brax and dazed they both were unbanned which he didn't mention.
I'm surprise he didn't mention the rule Valve made that unbanned him and Jamppi (who wasn't mentioned here either) among others
@@applehack97 he skipped most details tbh. this should be called a "brief history" not a "comprehensive history"
great video, would've loved to see the incident where some br players from immortals (not sure about that, HEN1 iirc) were fined because they refused to not wear their hats
You’ve got that TEKKEN 4 beach music.
Goldec AND Penguin upload??? I must be dreaming!
I appreciate how concise this was!
5:18 its worth noting that m0nesy asked if he could use it, and the tournament organiser gave the go ahead.
The teams and the people watching were not happy though
edit: very good video :D
Yeah, the admin allowing this does not change the fact that it was still cheating with the community and other players, so much so that players agreed to not use it anymore, as the administration and G2's morals failed.
remember me when you hit 5 mill bro this content is way to gas for a channel with 50k
I liked the use of the Airsoft shop theme from Persona 5 :D
bro with the tekken 4 music lets go
Valve give this man CS2 Access
flusha, byali, phone cheats, workshop cheats? tip of iceberg
New vid, new W
8:36 while Valve still kept their ban, all 4 ibuypower players were unbanned from ESL in 2017, just 2 years after the ban.
gotta love that persona music
MASSIVE footnote for the BIG jump bug, they were 100% not the only players to keep using the jump bug after the 'gentlemans agreement'. You really think that at map point with all the money and fame on the line players weren't jump peeking B long on cobble, A long on overpass? I specifically remember players on NaVi and some Brazilian players using the bug when things got hairy.
Counter Strike players trying not to cheat for 0.00001 seconds challenge (impossible)
Thank you for not including the infamous jumping kill from KQLY when talking about him cheating. Makes me cringe whenever I see it while someone is talking about him getting banned
Banger video, as usual, W.
tbh selling matches while being a low tier team is somewhat understandable for me, you still need to play a lot to get/stay on that level and youre playing basically with no reward.
Mannn... I was looking for the VP phone hack... but I can't find the footage, and alas - not mentioned here.
Byali (I think) had his phone connected to the PC, then at some point the admins removed the phone and the WHOLE of VP looked crushed - knowing their unfair advantage is now kaput.
If anyone knows where I can find that let me know - their reaction was priceless!
This video gonna be huge
KQLY was tragic, because he was incredible and succumbed to the pressures of high level play and ended up cheating to guarantee the win because he couldn't deal with the stress. Where as Forsaken was dogshit through and through.
Thought this was a self bio at first lol, maybe one day
Get this man CS2!
great video dude nice job!
crazy you don't have cs2 yet, i got it a couple of weeks ago and im s3 hihi
i can give you my account to play around with it if you'd like :33
How did u not crack a single flusha joke
Actually there were no rules at all for the olof boost, that was the rules for 2013 dreamhack tournament, 2014 never had such rules.
robban had the coaching bug happen to him on accident but he didnt abuse it. He was still banned for it though
Seeing how not only all of the former Ibuypower players went to val and had decent careers in it but the one unbanned player from that roster won a major in CSGO. we always talk about how Swag deserved to be unbanned and how good he would be but looking back on it now I think that the scandal was the first giant setback for NA CS. North America has had it rough man
swag ruined his whole career with it. That guy had so much potential back then.
Forsaken single handedly ruined a country's esports advancement
All my friends have access to CS2 but my main account doesnt even though I match all the requirements. Even my alt account that has played 4 games in the last year has access to cs2. Unfortunately my friend usually uses my alt so I cant always hop on. Still havent even tried it out yet as I got the news about my alts invite yesterday.
your content is amazing keep up the good work.
this was basic af his worst video
The truth is that the whole pro scene is one big scam. Sadly only a few people have show just how bad cheating is amongst pros and streamers. Most likley the organisations (like esl and mabey even valve) are in on it because money.
You are absolutely right… sadly… when you know how aim locks work you see it in every game… it’s insane!
Music during the sponsor segment?
Cs2 is coming out in 6 days (21 of august 2023)
one ways aren't allowed in tournaments? that's crazy. I was spamming them all the time in matchmaking back in high school hahaha
is it true Forsaken only got 5 year ban from Valve tournaments and the IBP guys got a lifetime ban?
No coverage of byali? Surface of iceberg video.
