This is the all-new Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo, and Mat’s about to find out if it truly is the ‘sweet spot’ in the Taycan range.
Why do we say that we hear you say? Well, let’s look at the entry-level and the range-topping editions. The cheapest entry point is the RWD Taycan, which comes with 400hp and costs £74,000. At the top end, you have the Turbo S, which comes with almost 800hp and costs £139,000+.
So then you have the Taycan GTS, which is equipped with two electric motors to deliver 598hp, with a starting price of £104,000. So, lots of power, but at a much cheaper price than the Turbo S!
But is it worth it? And should you choose the GTS Sport Turismo over the competition? You’ll have to keep watching to see for yourself!

Man, this car is so promising. You get sportiness as well as practicality. It is quicker than most of the cars out there and full of so many cool things. There's very little to loathe about this car.

The back looks great, but in person, the headlights just don't work for me. In pictures it's amazing, but when you see it in real life, it's very underwhelming in the front. Just odd vents, sort of recessed headlights. Doesn't look Porsche.

The reason your Vbox is having so much trouble tracking the 0-60 mph speeds is that the sound/heat insulated glass option tends to block a lot of RF, and other EM frequency signals, interfering with some mobiles, radar detectors, etc.
So it's probably messing up the box ability to detect GPS satellite signals and properly calculate your speeds from inside the car
I'm not a big fan of the electric cars, but man, this car is one of the most pretty looking car i've ever seen

Well Matt, since I do have a Taycan turbo with the heat insulated windows among other options. I can tell you that the windows are the reason you cannot get GPS signal in the car. I've got an online radar alert system that struggles with the same things. It's those windows, they not only blocks the sunlight, they block other wave lengths as well, it turns out.
What do you need a radar alert system for good man 😂😂😂

Does it affect the cell phone signal? Can you use a map navi app while driving?
@@rockys7726 no problem with cell phone reception or GPS on the cell phone. It's just some device with GPS that struggles

Porsche is one of my favourite car manufacturer ever and I love all their cars with insane performance and the most amazing part the brakes

He use to be mine as well, but he has turned into a raging plonker the last year or so, I use to watch all of Carwow's videos, but have not bothered the last several months as he keeps dicking about. Basically gotten too big for his boots.
Carwow must be happy though, he must be doing something right going by the number of subs they have. :) Guess one person's "fun" is another person's annoying twatt! :)
The Taycan is the only EV I can think of that actually has character.

It's a great car to own - super fun and practical. Mat's right - you can pinch your skin on the door handle, someone did it last week getting out of my car.
On the body style, we just did a ski trip and had loads of room in the sedan. I'd get the CT or ST if you want to have a large dog in there or throw a bike in the back, otherwise the sedan looks much better and is more secure.
These are incredibly capable cars on the street or track, don't doubt that for a minute.
My dream EV car! Great looking design, unique on its own. Great practicality!

Thanks for the verdict and rest Matt. The TAYCAN Sport Turismo was in my line of sight for the next car (in a Tesla Model 3 LR at present) and this has sealed my thoughts. Just hope Car Wow can indeed Wow when the time is right.

I really like the sound it makes, one of my gripes with electric cars is the no exhaust sound. It really adds to the experience of the drive, still prefer a gas car but at least this helps

I suspect the double glass is restricting the satellite signal. That and rear wheel steer are optional, not standard.

Note that gold connector on the back of the Racebox? It's for an external GPS antenna, which can be placed outside, with a cable through the door. 😉 The antenna is probably in the box the specialist timing gear came with, back at the office.

We wish the Taycan GTS came with Insulated Privacy Glass and the Rear Wheel Steering as Standard. However, they are both optional cost extras.

It does need to blip the "throttle" if it is shifting down. It still needs to match the motor RPM to the gearbox rpm when shifting down gears otherwise you would lurch forward when it downshifts. I kinda wish it had a 6 speed gearbox with paddle shifters so you could drive it like a sports car. That would be awesome.
No one knows how Mat will suprise us in future videos and who knows it can be 2 hypercars like Bugatti and Koenigsegg drag racing or Mat reviewing a hypercar. Actually I was suprised when I saw this video where Mat reviewing one of my favourite car ever the Porsche Taycan GTS

The only reason I'm getting a sportcar (someday) is because of how it sounds.
Don't get me wrong, I really like how ev car usually look, especially the Ioniq 5 and Porshe Taycan, but I hope the supercar with real engine still continues on the production line, together with the EV version.

I love the modern glass roofs and the tinting technology finally being used for them. I remember going to a toilet which fogged the glass door when you locked it 20 years ago.

I know drifting a car is one of the most important tests a reviewer can do with it, since they do it so often, but I do wonder why, personally I NEVER see cars on the road drifting their way through corners, it is always much more calm than that. Still, reviewers know best, if a car doesn't like drifting, don't buy it, it is rubbish.
Why buy a sports car at all then?
Handling on the limit often a good measure of overall chassis composure. All that torque and weight tho, tyres never going to hold out.

the glass has metal elements in it which is like a farah day cage so bad or no signal with the tint mods and maybe a heated windscreen aswell lol

The Racebox has similar accuracy to the old VBox driftbox but the new Racelogic Touch Motorsport measuring device is superior to both so maybe time for an upgrade?
