I have 6 tips for you
1. You can do a trick by pressing R at the EDGE of a ramp(not in the air).
2. You can hold an item behind you by holding down the L button
3. When using glider, you use L stick up or down to go have less or more air time
4. there are secret paths in most tracks, you can use them to go faster but some require mushrooms or stars to use
5. If behind another racer for a certain amount of time you get a slight speed boost
6. In mute city the multicolored panels give you coins

Couple more tips for you.
1. If you hold shells behind you by just holding down the L button, you can block red shells more easily.
2. When you want to get tricks after ramps with the R button, click it as you’re leaving g the ramp not when you’re in the air. The timing has to be perfect for this but try to click it just when you leave the ramp.
3. Also karts are easier to use than bikes generally because the bikes drift slightly differently and more randomly so if you’re just starting off I recommend using a kart.

If you didn't know about this yet, the characters and karts do have different stats. Simply press + on the Kart building screen to view them. There's speed, acceleration, weight (which helps to bump other karts), handling (which makes you turn sharper), and traction (which ensures that you don't slip on slippery surfaces). Karts and bikes also control a little differently.

Here’s 2 more, the 2nd won’t become important until 150cc but is practically required for 200cc
1: If you get onto off-road continuously hop using ZR it’ll minimize its effect
2: Brake-drifting this involves holding B lightly in separate timeframes while drifting this is a great way to prevent yourself from hitting walls but by holding B i mean LIGHTLY
if you don’t press long enough you’ll be too fast to miss the wall, if you press for too long your speed will cancel out
I have some more tips for you.
1. That speed boost that you get is called drafting. You get it by driving right behind a player.
2. Whenever you have an item such as a banana or shell, you can hold the R button and hold it behind you for protection.
3. There is a video for the world record in all the tracks that can teach you some mushroom shortcuts.
4. Whenever going on a ramp, press R to do a trick and get a little speed boost.
5. Different characters have different stats. The tournament combo is Waluigi, Biddybuggy, Roller wheels, and any glider. Waluigi is already unlocked, so I suggest you use him if you want higher speed, because heavier characters have higher speed such as Bowser and DK. Lighter characters have high acceleration, such as Baby Mario and Koopa Troopa. Also aim for handling. What I'm trying to sum up is for better stats, don't always play Mario.
Also a tip: when you drift you can hold the b button to slow down but keeping the boost and cutting it closer

Here are some tips:
1. If a blue shell is coming after you and you’re first, if you have that red thing that has a yellow circle on it in the middle press A and use and then it’ll destroy the blue shell. You can use a mushroom to avoid it to boost through it.
2. If you want to unlock gold Mario, you must clear all cups and get all gold in 200cc and I don’t remember if you need to get at least one star but in my calculations I think you just gave have to get gold in every cup.
3. Drifting is better because I see a lot of people often do it and it really is useful. The first one is blue, the blue one gives you a boost for about 0.5 seconds, and the orange one gives you a boost for around 1.5 seconds, and here’s the one that’s really really really useful/cool, the purple one, the purple one gives you such a long boost for 2.5 seconds and it calculates how long you hold your drift so the longer you hold it the better drift you get.
4. And if you want to unlock the gold kart, you’ll have to get all gold cups in mirror mode with each of them having at least 1 star also I forgot to mention that you also have to clear 150cc and do what I exactly just said.
5. If you want the gold tires then you’ll have to beat all ghosts’ times in time trials.
6. And the most difficult gold part to unlock… THE GOLD GLIDER! If you want to unlock the gold glider you’ll need to get 5000 coins total in your game that you have collected in your entire life I know that seems like a lot but trust me it will be worth it once you ride it all those beautiful glorious gold parts!

The DLC cups appear in a separate menu from the base cups. Just press L or R on the cup selection. The background will change from blue to purple, and a new set of cups will appear. If you didn't download the DLC, it will let you know when you select a cup.
That was one crazy cup. You're starting to get a better grasp at Mario Kart.
My favorite cup is the Moon Cup from the Booster Course Pass.
9:15 You avoided the Blue Shell since it was more fixated on Bowser who was in first at the time.
That happened to me one time, then I was like, "WHAT BUT HOW DID I AVOID IT"
But then through time I realized that the person behind me was in first for the longest time when the blue shell was launched which means once it's launched it homes on the one who was first for the longest, it makes more sense now😄👍

Here Are two other tips:
1. your combination of kart, wheels and glider does actually have an affect. Some characters have low speed, but High handling and acceleration, or vice versa. It’s the same with the karts/wheels and Even gliders. Press the plus button while selecting a kart to see the stats.
2. It’s not just speed or handling that matters, having high acceleration can turn a drift from blue to orange to purple way faster. It also makes you recover your speed faster after being hit by a Shell.
Man, the turbo boost is how my 8 year old kicks my rear! It’s his favorite strategy.

Tip: When holding an item like a green shell or banana, if you hold down ZL you will hold it behind you that serves as a defence from other racers items like incoming red shells.
the pinkish, bluish, purplish boost loooking thing in mute city gives you coins and can get you to 10 coins if you stay long enough on it

That boost you got that you think happens randomly is called Drafting, it happens if you stay behind a racer for a duration. You have to make sure to move out of the way when you get the Draft boost because you don't want to bump into them, especially if they have an item.
EDIT: The multicolored pad in Mute City and Big Blue, provide coins. This is in reference to the original F-Zero games where it provides fuel.
tip: you don't have to throw the items to break the red shells, it's enough to just hold them behind you

3 tips:
1. You can hold a banana and a shell green or red on the back of you by holding the left trigger (L button) down, this can protect you from green and red shells👍
2. The boo item steals an item from a player, which is why you had a banana, it also makes the user invisible.
3. Click view highlight real after the race is over, below next race, which allows you to see what happened in the race.
Tips
•Use ZL and ZR instead of L and R.
•You can skip the loading for item boxes by honking (L/ZL). Just make sure you don’t have an item.
To do tricks, you have to press R as soon as you go off the ramp. You can do the same off of gliding ramps as well. Both methods give you an extra boost.

Tip: If you shake the console when you leave a ramp, you will get a boost after you land.

1:21 So what happened was that you had a Coin in your first item slot and a Banana in your second item slot and the Boo stole what you was currently holding (The Coin) and so then you automatically equipped to your Banana. The racer who used the Boo item stole a Coin and which that’s what they were given to them.
A tip for you is whenever you just have one banana or shell if you hold the button to throw your item you hold it behind you protecting you from red and green shells
Edit: when you’re on those blue and purple strips it give you a BUNCH of coins

If you press R/ZR right off a ramp or higher platform, you get a speed boost when you land.
I think I should give you a tip that each character has there own weight class light, medium, and heavy. And the karts has there own stats me personally I prefer high acceleration but it’s optional if u want to use high acceleration and if you want to see your kart stats just press the “+” button on your switch Joystick
U can use a banana to block shells and u can use a horn to block a red shell also to block efficiently hold the L button on your controller to block, incoming red shells and green shells also when u hit r/l on track select
Also a tip: If you have a banana or a shell, you can hold Zl to keep it behind you and that will protect you from red shells
