    Not kidding, never knew of this technology until a few minutes ago but this is just what I've envisioned the evolution of the internet to be.. basically this exact type of technology this is it. An immersive, interactive internet. The screen will no longer be the norm, we will visit website's in a whole new way, shop, game, socially interact etc. So many possibilities. This is crazy.

      yep it came out 2 years ago and it's an expensive dev kit for software companies and developers.... and the next version is coming around q1 2019

    What a great video. I've been using the HoloLens for the last 2 years (and creating videos here about it). This is the first time I've heard a number of devices being sold. Would be interesting to know the source that came from. 70 Billion Euros in 4 years is nice to hear. Again, great video. Can't wait for the actual hologram conferencing to become a reality!

    I swear ‘I think about this video every day of my life. This is going to be so powerful.. but it’s abysmal -terribly unfortunate- just how the technology is capped right now based on our current infrastructure’s bandwidth capacity. Today, cutting-edge graphics, -outstanding, photoreal graphics- are beginning to be widely available (see “Quixel”, Octane Render [Engine], RTX/DXR), -but the means to move that data over the air in real-time is pending. The anticipation is maddening!

    To be really plain, I am so sad that this holoporting concept could not be delivered at a more impressive level of detail, - all because of bandwidth caps. If the ideal would be 200+ fps at 4K, 6K, or 8K - _while seeing this prototype is exciting_ , for how compressed-looking Alex Kipman is in the final output, -looking like a “Sim”- I just wonder why using an artificial 3D asset avatar altogether (like Andy Serkis’s performance for Unreal Engine at GDC 2018) wouldn’t deliver something altogether more worthwhile. It’s so upsetting to me! *Obviously no expense was spared in image capture, -but what detail is there left in the output?*

    How about the FOV that is one of the limits

    • @pumpuppthevolume
      @pumpuppthevolume Před 6 lety

      they have a patent about doubling the fov while keeping the same battery life.... and it will be somewhat cheaper..... but to get to the average consumer it will take something like 4 generations

    Isn't "MS mixed reality" the term used in the MS patents? .. coz "mixed reality" is a 2D video composite!
    Doesn't that imply favoritism of a major cooperation by the patent office itself , isn't that extremely serious breach of public trust?! which is actual great ...just coz ...the sooner these cooperation bogus patents get permanently voided and put back in the public domain the better!

    Until these glasses stop looking so goofy I cant see this taking off. This needs a visionary like the late Steve Jobs to turn this clunk into something cool that the mainstream will desire.
