I watch/listen to hardcore porn. Will these improve my experience?
your comment made me giggle, ty sir!
They definitely will I know they did for me
no but a naked woman might
You might need jesus
I rate this comment of the day even in 2018... u were so ahead of your time man respect.
My point was that, although the Momentum doesn't have anything special to offer, the lack of any significant shortcomings is actually something that a lot of people frequently forget to address as well, especially among closed-backs. Open-backs are better-sounding, but they aren't as versatile, as you've pointed out. That's actually something I love about the Momentum, although they could use a little less attenuation up top.
the reason i don't like reviews on headphones by 'average consumers' is because they can't give more feedback other than saying 'these are very clear' and 'the bass isn't over powering'. any decent headphones will sound 'clear'. reviews by audiophiles will give a much more detailed description which is the whole point of any review on any product.
Do you really think the "average consumer" will have a clue as to what you're talking about when you mention "crisp highs", "dark mids" "muddy lows" or any term used mainly by audiophiles? That's the whole point of those reviews, they're aimed at "average consumers" so they use laymen's terms to review the products because technical descriptions tend to be confusing to people who aren't heavily invested enough in audio equipment to be knowledgeable about them.
IAmPlaysWithSquirrel people who look into higher end headphones want to know the differences between 2 pairs of high quality headphones at the same price range. to describe both as 'clear' doesn't help define which one to buy.
IAmPlaysWithSquirrel
He's right though. UAC's reviews and videos tend to be very repetitive and shallow because of his lack of insight. While it is best for consumers to actually try headphones out themselves, he could at least expand his paltry vocabulary. To be fair, he tends to favor looks and features over sound quality.
IAmPlaysWithSquirrel The thing is, These are products made for music listening. If people are going to be dropping money on expensive headphones then they should get the full info on these headphones. If this really is for the Average person then surely high end headphones should be left out surely? otherwise it's a waste of money!
UAC reviews doesn't have to get too technical! things like Treble, Mids and Lows are very simple terms to learn and then it's easy to say well X has a bit of a smoother treble while Y has more of a peaky, screechy sharp treble.
These products are the real deal and it doesn't hurt normal people to learn something new about the product they are buying!
IAmPlaysWithSquirrel this headphone is an audiophile headphone as to why he's looking for audiophile reviews on this headphone because he is an audiophile looking for audiophile reviews on this headphone.
So your favourite thing about them is the input jack? You are really just an average consumer :)
It is fucking amazing!
a question, I'm from mexico .. these are better than the 2.0 beats studio?
Kevin, I agree that the Momentum sounds similar to the HD 600, I have both. but to keep it real, The HD 600 is a big step up. it is simply put, the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.
Sound Quality > Overpowering Bass.
Finally someone who prefers sound quality over bass
I'm all for it, but when Bass is the first thing you notice, its too much. Everything in moderation. I generally have a bit of extra bass in my listening, but its a lot closer to nuetral than it is overpowering.
These are beautiful headphones, had mine since around May and can't get enough of them! Also the natural leather is super comfy, I can go days at work where I'll only take them off to go to lunch, they're that nice.
For everyone comparing these to the ATH-M50s, these are common listening headphones for personal enjoyment and mobile listening. The ATH-M50s have clearly labeled "MONITOR HEADPHONES" on both earcups, so the M50s, naturally, are MOST LIKELY going to be 1. Less biased towards any part of the frequency range. 2. Limited in the portability aspect, (although the m50s fold up nicely). 3. More appealing to someone who needs the most accurate sound representation possible.
hey @uravgconsumer ! i think your getting into the headphone game more and more with each review... i noticed in your older videos your into just the bass, i would've thought u wouldn't like the momentums, based on their fairly neutral sound signature! Thats why i like neutral sound, they're versatile to every genre of music! and the fact that the momentums are gorgeous! makes it a no brainer
They are simply amazing! I would buy them again if I needed to.
Great sound quality, great design, comfortable and good build quality.
Totally worth it.
Of course you would get the pink ones. Lol. Sorry but you like Beats so it's hard to take you seriously.
They look red to me.
x BublizZ Well one of us has to get glasses than. :)
Lol they're right but near the ear cup those cords look pink because of the light
MobileDecay And you need to take English again.
Oliver M I'm sorry you bought Beats. I really am. =(
For those Asking about a Comparison between Momentum and Beats, I have found after many tests using various song genres (Classical, Rock):
- Momentum (Over-ear) = Crisp, Clear, Life-like Sound with a Good, none-interrupting Base. A light headphone, but does not fold.
- Beats Studio (New) = Good but quite Muffled Sound with a Powerful Base (lows) that interrupts the Highs (Vocals, Instruments etc)
- Beats Pro = Decent Sound with a Powerful Base (lows) that interrupts the Highs (Vocals, Guitars etc). Very cumfufy pair of headphones which feels like you have a pillow pressing against your head.
I have spent a few days now comparing headphones against Beats as am looking for a good quality pair myself. I don't care particularly for a Brand Name I just care about a high quality pair of headphones which I can really get immersed in my music.
My advise would be if you can test against many headphones in a shop using your OWN music, that is the only true way to find out which Headphone will actually suite you the most!
I also have owned the ATH m50s. They grew on me. They have a nice punchy sound. The obsolete sounds very well, meaning that you will not hear sounds from the outside, and others will not hear what you're listening to.
But because the m50s fits in tightly around the head, I felt that they sounded congested. You were definitely aware that you were listening to a sealed headphone. They are not as pristine and clear as the momentum, but they sounds great at the price point.
Wow! You really have some quality in your videos! Very nice video quality and filming. Review was also very well made! Subbed and I'm probably going to buy a pair of Momentum's.
Depends on your definition of portable. I use my Modified T50RP as a portable and they are a complete upgrade over the Momentum at a cheaper price. If you mean similar size and functions I like the Momentum but prefer the kEF M500, DT770 Annie and AKG K551 as a portable.
Every time he says "Low Key", I hear Loki :D
I hear that when anyone says it
@@thegloriouspotato6223 Wow totally forgot about this comment... Still rings to true to this day
Ok, if you are a bass head, go for the Beats or the Sony pulse wireless, If you are a fashion victim go for the beats, which are also very bass heavy, but if you are true audiophile like myself... The Sennheiser Momentums wins Hands down. Covers all the frequency ranges with a clean sound.even at high volume...... Best pair of headphones I've heard .
He's a basshead. Beats happens to have the sound signature and styling that he prefers. There's nothing wrong with that. He's actually a bigger fan of other bass-enhanced headphones like the PS3 Pulse and V-Moda M-100.
spoilers he thinks beats sound better
i owned the on ears and auditioned the over ears. the over ears have a more laid back sound and a larger soundstage. the frequency is more balanced too. but i enjoy the on ear more because it has this thumping bass and most of the songs i listen to are pop anyway so on ear does the job well.
I had the DT 770 Pro 80 ohm and the velour pads fit perfectly on the COP. I don't plan on buying a pair though since the pleather works for me.
You are doing an awesome job with your review. Loved it. Keep up the good work.
These headphones, despite how they sound out of the box, can actually acquire a clean heavy bass with a little bit of work. but in my case I rooted an Android device, used viper, faux sound, and dsp manager. I found a way to increase bass response in these without muddying up the mids or highs. the beauty of the flatter tones out of the box make them easy to adjust with the right eq settings. the potential of the momentums to deliver a clean heavy punch is definitely there.
it has distortion free super dry tight bass and they work with most devices since they got a very high sensitivity. I use the "dumb" wire for even more sensitivity (the mic cable isn't useful for me)
I sure paid a lot for my momentums, but I said these would be the "last headphones I'll buy in decades", I was probably right. Now they'd be much cheaper and a sure buy but they still hold up at the price I paid which was 230 euros, much less than shitty beats by dre
I wish the cabling on my left earcup matched the cabling on my right earcup. It's an ocd thing. Great headphones, I fully recommend if your looking to splash out. Although they do look nice in black and red, I have learnt to love my brown and silver pair.
The Momentums are, in my opinion, more stylish than the M50s, but I do happen to appreciate the professional looks of the latter as well. Comfort is going to also be a large difference between these two. M50s, big ear-cups, cushioned drivers, but produce alot of sweat after long periods of use. Momentums, smaller ear-cups that wrap around the ears, not as much of a sweat issue.
Anyone looking for great headphones go for the Audio Technica ATH-m50x it's the latest of their products and beats the Momentums in almost any test. Also did I add that they are $100+ less than the Momentums. If you're looking for great headphones that beat most headphones in a lot of categories definitely go check out the Audio Technica m50x s
Great review as always! One question, what are they like for house/dance type music? Are they Bassy enough for that type of music? If not, any recommendations?
Hello, I think for the sound leak test, you can establish an average of how loud it is played (from whom it is listening) because not all headphones sound just as loud at the same rate, it would be better, that the leak sound is contrasted with how loud the headphones are
I think there are better dedicated headphones for certain tasks, for example, the HD-600 is a much better pair for critical listening, as well as the AKG K-7xx series. For closed-backs, I prefer the K 550 by a long shot for home-use, but I can't say the Momentums really fall short in any specific area, either (the treble of the 550 leaves much to be desired). They also have a pretty darn smooth FR up until 1K, and the transition's quite fluid up until 3K where it starts getting a bit "fuzzy."
Can someone tell me if these premium headphones SIGNIFICANTLY improve the sound even when youre listening to basic mp3's or streaming music from spotify
Obviously
They don't go quite as far as to give you that "open-back" feel, nor do they have that last bit of detail, but I feel that the Momentums aren't incompetent or lacking in any way, either. It's capable of functioning considerably well in a number of applications as well, making it a good pair to get if you don't know exactly what you need or want. Probably one of the best Jack of all trades under $350.
Great review! Considering stretching my budget to get these.
The momentum is definitely one of the best Headphones for its price.
gotta be careful of the ear-cups though!! it is very small and i have small-average ish ear but they sound goooooddddddd!!
if you mean the wires on top of the ear cups they should not be a problem i have used several pairs of heaphones with the wires showing and ive never had a problem with them the due to the wires staying so close to your head. I hope this helped you
Awesome review. I own a brown pair of those bad boys and this is a totally fair and honest review.
I got these after replacing 2 faulty pair of beats headphones, good thing I got the Best Buy protection plan. I do miss the bass but high range of frequencies, comfort, and cool look out weigh that.
i bought these 4 days ago
i am listening to this video with the Momentum
i bought the brown one because they look more nobel.
i have the old beats studio and i compared the two. The beats studio are much heavier
and the momentum are very comfortable and light.
The sound is perfect.
If you have the money, buy them.
(i am swiss sorry for spelling mistakes)
well it depends on what you like. I have not tried the new beats by dre but they say they are good. If you like bass then beats or akg should be on your shortlist, but if you like cluster-clarity sound with natural bass and amazing qulity then these or sony mdr-1r are your pick. I own a pair of momentums and they are the best headphones i´ve owned. the sony mdr-1r come in 2nd and the sony mdr-xb500 3rd.
For closed-back portables, these are arguably your best bet, unless you like the KEF M-500 or perhaps want to spend a shit-ton of money on a pair of Ultrasones.
It's not that hard to get some good frequency-response measurement charts from sites like Innerfidelity and compare the two side-by-side to see how bad the old studios are, you know? The remakes are actually decent, though. They actually scored decently in the portable-shootout thread on Head-fi.
Hey, buddy. It's been quite a long time not seeing your review.. You do a great job on doing review with the headphones so far. Anyway,do you mind if you do the review with the headphone called Polk audio 8000 one....I want your opinion about it. Hope to watch your review again soon. Have a nice day! ^_^
I was thinking about getting these for quite some time now. thanks for your advice! :D
Thank you, that's exactly my point, and I understand what you mean, and im sure the more expensive sennheisers are good, but from my experience I didn't like them at all. Just I was told the cheaper like 100 dollar ones sounded better than my beats studio headphones (The New Models, I hate the old model ones.)
These headphones are soooo worth it! It‘s great for acoustic music and as electronic, pop, hip hop... basically it sounds amazing for any kind of music!
listening to this review with my sennhieser momentum :P
jaja, me too :33
same here :D
They anygood?
me three!! :3
Jesus guys, I'm trying to sleep but fckin notification woke me twice...:D
Do you think they will release a new updated model next year? If so when? Not in any rush to get one at the moment.
Yessss!!! He's back.
Thank you! I was actually thinking about purchasing a pair of these today!
from personal use beyerdynamic custom one pro or audio technica m50 / m50s
If you want a good heavy bass an sound quality i would say go with beyerdynamic custom one pro they can give some insane bass when you open up the bass pots
Quite good review! For people who want a more neutral and better sound there's the KEF M500. It's also 50 dollars cheaper.
The Mad Dogs are okay, but they aren't for me; not an upgrade for everyone.
I actually used a Walkman Z1060, an E17, and K 550s until I realized that was kind of dumb, now that I just play FLACs straight out of it. The M-500 is definitely better-sounding as a pair of headphones for sure, but I seem to use the Momentum more because of their warmness, given they will most likely be used in a noisy environment where the lows are often heard to hear with completely flat, or lean headphones.
These are the over-ear right? What would you recommend between on-ear and over-ear? Thanks
These are the over-ear version. These do sound better but they do cost a bit more than the on-ear version.
Oh sweet! Between these and crossfade M-80, what do you think is better? And thanks for the reply, pretty awesome for CZcamsrs to do that!
+Punit Sedani really late to this. I have these cans and a pair of Pioneer HDJ 2000s. They don't have the surround sound of the pioneers (them pioneers are reference headphones!), but sound isolation is better. I use the Pioneers when i am home and outside i use the Momentum. I have to say both are awesome headphones. Since Pioneers are better than Crossfade in terms of sound quality, I would suggest buying one those 2
Great, thanks for getting back to me.
Which of the two has a "punchier" sound?
As I live in London, I'll be using the headphones on the London Underground, and the tube get's very loud in some places. So a Louder product is what I'm after.
But that's for the heads up on the Pioneer - I'll look out for those!
Probably I would go with momentums. Also kook into the new vmoda m100s
Honestly this is one of your best reviews I've seen. Don't get me wrong I love Beats in general and have a pair but when you get into high-end headphones $299-$399 for a pair you start to realize that your simply paying to much for headphones that could perform much better for the same price or a few hundred more. Honestly in my opinion Beats, Bose, Sony are all a bit over-rated here. Sennheiser, Philips, Polk, Beyerdynamic, and one of my personal favorites Grado simply top these off.
Yes, finally someone with knowledge that stretches beyond the M50. The Beyer COP is an absolutely fantastic headphone with teeth rattling bass, resolving highs and supreme comfort. I actually had the Momentum but returned it after listening to the COP. The Momentum is deeply uncomfortable and the sound is not much fun. Not to mention the price. That Sennheiser badge adds a disproportionate amount of money to the total.
I agree with most of what you have said, but i'm curious as to why you have listed Sony with Beats and Bose? Sony make excellent headphones, Their MA900 I prefer over the sennheiser HD 650 is amazing bang for buck. Sennheiser are a very inconsistent company putting out some very bad headphones but also they do put out some good too but more bad.
This is a great review but just a heads up…
I just got these in the mail today and was severely disappointed how static/noisy the jacks are when bumped or moved around or you swivel the jack. I didn't expect them to not be gold plated. My Skullcandy Hesh's are gold plated and have absolutely zero noise. So i'm totally baffled as to why Sennheiser wouldn't have this standard gold plating, especially for being so high dollar.
Other than that I love the quality of everything else.
But i'm debating on getting Audio-Technica ATH M50x's instead. They have gold plating.
Gold plating the jacks has absolutely no impact on anything, its just a gimmick for you to pay more. Your issue seems to be very rare because I haven't seen any other review on these that has this problem, probably a small quality control issue at the factory or something. I'd suggest reporting to Sennheiser
The gold plates doesn't change anything, they cost about 2$ more and makes it a bit easier to brag about them.
However, I have the Momentum and M50x, I use the Momentum outside my house and my M50x at my computer, I would use the Momentum with my computer if they were as comfortable as my M50x. The sound is significantly better on the Momentum. Also, I wouldn't think that my M50x was more comfortable than the Momentum unless I had switched the ear pads witch made them leak more sound.
I do not recommend that you do this.
I would tend to agree. You are paying mostly for the versatility (headphone designed for travel), as well as the materials put into it. I have tried the headphone and would not recommend it for use at a house or studio because for the money, you can get better sound. $300+ for a portable set of headphones is starting to cross the "is it really worth it" mark in my opinion.
m50 is a really nice pair but i love the bass controls on my COP an the sound is just amazing, beyerdynamic hasn't failed to impress me yet. Only thing witch is a personal opinion is de ear pads you get with them, i like the soft types the most an i am gonna order some very soon (also broke the cable witch is easy to replace) else the COP is one de best headsets for under 200 dollar's highly recommend them
Honestly, I've gotten to where I hate leather / leatherette earcups. A lot of the pairs of headphones I've had with those style of cups, they tend to warm my ears up and get uncomfortable after a while.
The over-ears are better in terms of detail and imaging, as well as soundstage and the overall frequency response. It seems to be better to just pass them up, but that's just my opinion.
i think so! the sound is very very clear
Love Sennheiser! I have the in ear monitors for my bass!
Glad if you have time to review jvc 55x headphones, thanks for the reviews it helps me a lot.
They are really nice I woud like to see more unboxings of any product
the color signature of the headphone and the case kinda reminds me of beats headphones
You going to CES in January?
Is the mic on the headphones compatiable with the ps4????
From my own experience These headphones can´t beat my Grado GR10 in ear, only in bass, but even than, the bass on the IE80 is better,to stay with Sennheiser, but in Terms of musically, Emotion, clarity and even soundstage the Grado´s are a class on their own.
Is there serial numbers on the headphone?
i got so used to these that i forgot i was watching this review with them on
this guy never wasted time .. he gets right into it...
I would love to own a pair of Bose QC35s. I have a great headset as it is but I would love the 35s
sennheiser or audio tecnica??
These are nice headphones, my only issue is those wires out in the open... It seems to me like it could easily get snagged on something, and then ruined.
Nice review, I really think you should do a SMS by 50 I think it's called......
should i get momentum if i usually listen to pop music?
i love them for all types of music, i have them. they also have a mic. However, they will hurt your ears for long sessions
I have a zune 120gb with no equalizer and using the Razer Kraken headphones. They sound good and I listen to all types of music electronic, techno, disco, some with bass and some with no bass and so on. Well the momentum be good or the m50s or m50x?
More reviews for Hi-Fi headphones please!
I love your reviews.!
i really want this for my birthday, only 2 months to go!
So i am really torn by this... I play alot of games ind all kinds of genres. But at the same time music is a very big part of my life. I have found two diffrent pieces here and what do you guys think would be best for me? Sennheiser Momentum or SteelSeries Elite Prism ?
only thing that bothers me is that red extra wire sticking out
How big are your ears? Mine are 65mm top to bottom, would they fit comfortably in these you reckon?
Sennheiser Momentum 2 was better than both Bose QC 25, Sony
MDR-100AAP/ABN/1A, B&W P3/P5 and was even with Denon when I gave
some headphones a try in some stores!
--Sennheiser
The Sennheiser had pleasant warm sounding sound frequency response and very good detail across the range. They made music listening fun and the music felt alive.
They were not punchy in the bass like Sony or AKG or Koss but they were really fun to listen too and they had alot of bass but it was true to the recording and balanced and fun. I've never liked any Senheiser headphone or in-ear bud before because I always found Senheiser to be unengaging, flat and boring to listen to - Not these ones!
--Noise Cancelling
Now for Noise cancelling I found them better than both Sony and Bose. I didn't really measure how much sound they kept out or how much hizz/white noise they introduced. It's just that the Sennheiser didn't play music worse with it engaged. Furthermore I could not keep the Bose's on for very long because the NC applied an air pressure to my eardrums so It felt like i was on a plane and needed to pop the negative pressure out of my ears, not very pleasant to have that sensation.
--Sound competition
I have an B&W surround system at home and tried many headphones up towards 1 000$ range. I wanted to find a descent price for something that might get lost or broken so I settled for around USD.
The Bose QC-25 was very uncomfortable to listen to. It induced a air pressure from the NC that wasn't comfortable. The sound quality was lousy. I loved these trying them on 2 years ago but not now. All songs I tried with them in 320Kbit made them sound like 128Kbit versions of the same song. It has some serious compression and detail problems. Besides all music sounding like digital jitter in comparison to the Sennheiser, they feel like they try more than they can manage both in bassresponse and treble. It's just like Bose's other products "An underdimensioned speaker trying to sound larger" - It doesn't work!
I can't say I liked ANY of the Sony alternatives not the 100ABN 100AAP or 1A.
The bass was punchy and lossy.
The treble was so sharp It made my ears cringe of pain at even medium sound levels.
These Headphones have some of the sharpest treble responses I've ever heard and It did hurt - Just avoid!
The B&W P3 and P5 suck soo much. I can't believe how disappointed I am with them but fine; if you like Marshall Major Headphones or Beats headphones then maybe :/
The B&W P7 however; wow It's great. The bass was round, warm and felt a little bit undetailed. And actually that's what I feel about my living room speakers aswell. B&W lacks differentiation and subtleties in the bass region. But they sound great with Classical and Rock music not so much modern music.
The B&W P9 I tried with Tidal, DAC and headphone amplifier. This is not where I would put my money. They sounded sooo detailed my brain had trouble processing the music when compared to today's lousy CZcams and lossy Spotify formats. Think of It like having three people talk to you at once. That's how the instruments and singer felt. Sooo much clarity!!
I also tried Denon AH- GC20 and they sounded as good If not better than the Sennheiser, so I would say this is the only alternative I found!
The Denon AH-MM400 was a more expensive version with exotic materials and I didn't like the almost vacuum tight fit of the headphones around my ears, sound quality was very good but didn't justify 100$ more for me.
@TylerRotenberry They are good for pretty much everything...
Please do a review on philips uptown and downtown please they are great for the money!!
Are these good for gaming and listening to music at the same time. Thinking about replacing my corsairs since there bulky and hurts the tips of my ears after a while.
How about the ath m50x's think in about copping a pair
I'm not a fan at all of the m50xs
***** you can get better for the same price
*#Sennheiser** **#RS120** **#On-Ear** **#Wireless** **#RF** **#Headphones* is discounted up to 46%.Click to order amzn.to/1qi35vs. Good opportunity to own one. Best headphone - Best price
I use them for PC gaming while listening to Spotity for hours on end these are a great choice of headphones.
Thanks for the review!
Sen Momentum, Monster DNA or Bose SOundtrue? which would you recommend? just for listening to music everyday
The only thing I do not like about the HD 600 is the 9.7 inch cord. I wish they made a four footer
What? It's not even a 90 degree jack. And in no means smaller... It goes in any position you want it to 180 degrees, 90, anything in between
I have the on ear wireless and I just can't explain how I feel about the bass...too punchy lacks in the low end a lil.
I got these after I threw away my beats, he's a beats fanboy, I hope he sees that beats suck. Balanced sound, great looks, beautiful leather finish, retro look
You liked the sony's pulse. Could you please compare against the sony's MDR-1RBT?
true, but so are the beats and people buy them, even if they dont sound so good
I think if you give the Sony MDR X-10 a listen you'll be very pleased
Hey could you review the Skullcandy Crushers? And/or the Navigators? For an average consumer? I know you usually don't review Skullcandy, but i need some good or decent headphones that r $110 or less from BEst Buy.
I hope he dose a review of the monster DNA headphones
Review Nixon the Apollo head phones. Amazing headphones for the price
Review the audio techinca ath ws99 please. They are apart of the solid bass brand.
Great review
