*Yes* , iPhone is at *80* *Hz* most of the time. This is because Apple intentionally limited the refresh rate to 80 Hz when your scroll reaches a specific speed. They think when your scroll is so fast, all that your eyes can catch is blur, so 120 Hz is unnecessary (which I doubt). I tested it with a slo-mo camera, and it's proven by Craig.
Your eyes can see well over 80hz. Your eyes see upwards of 560 megabits and you can see the difference between FPS upwards of 250 FPS. iPhone does go to 120hz but only when needed. Ever since ios16 dropped and gave us a little bit of customization and battery percentage ios was not smooth and buttery as it was I was thinking of going back to android because they can add features in and still have there os feel really good like nothing happened
Animations on iOS are generally longer which makes the phone feel less smooth. They're eye candy the first 100 times you look at them but after a while they start slowing you down. Too bad there's nothing that can be done apart from disabling animations altogether.
helpp im sorry but have you even held an iphone before? their animations arent even slowing it down, the home gestures literally help you get what you need that fast. the only thing that makes it not smooth is your inability to multitask, bet youll say the same thing to android 😢
@@liannebleh The animations are longer to supposedly add to the UX. Scrolling is also different; both Android and iOS run 120Hz, but there’s relatively less motion on iOS, say when you scroll through text. Text on Android however, moves a greater distance for every single swipe, so there’s more motion on the screen. That may be why there’s people saying the screen is 90Hz and that it’s clocked up or some bs.
@@aresez64I don't wanna make this weird but I literally just released a video about this recently... Where I shared why Apple products SEEM better. Same title. If interested, check it out.
To clarify, apple uses 90hz and clocks its screens up during scrolling or other tasks that involve heavy screen flickering, light or movement change, so in contrast, most android flagships dont really do that, but Apple decided to declare their phones 120hz, because technically they are, but not always.

My brother in Christ....that is an optimisation thing which most Androids also have. It is to avoid wasting battery life for performing at 120 hz. 90hz is solid enough for simple home screen viewing. 120 hz is probably reserved for more visually-focused activities like gaming, video-watching etc. Although I don't think there is an option to turn this off in the ios
It has more to do with android having much faster snappier animations where iPhones animations are slower. On a lower refresh rate like 60 this makes the iPhone feel smoother, but at 120hz it makes it feel slow and sluggish. You'd think that they would prioritize the 120hz for games, but it's actually the opposite, the best place to show off high refresh rate is when scrolling or on the home screen as it makes the whole phone feel snappy and these are relatively low performance scenarios, whereas in most game the phone isn't capable or optimized to run at 120hz since a game is a more performance demanding scenario
@@kadenbirchI see what you are talking about. It may be right, after all, a user spends most of their time on the homescreen or on low-performance apps like social media apps, so prioritising animations in such areas makes the phone look better.
The optimisation is dynamic refresh rate, I think Iphones Pro have it too, I don't see why they would limit animations to 90 because the system is one of the few things that can run in 120, YT and videos will always run at like 60fps or less
@@arpanchatterjee3147brother that time is gone when phones were lagging after 6 months. Even without updates I am running an old Samsung phone (s9). Might be due to what's being displayed. The android screen was showing black and white individual app icons, while the iPhone was displaying colored grouped icons.
Ya and the reason they are the way they are is because their parents buy them that phone and never tech them any sort of respect so they hate on people who just buy their own stuff lol and no not all people car afford flag ship phones
Could also be because your scrolling more on the android and not on the phone since on the iPhone you just scroll once and your at the bottom but on the android you have to scroll a while to get to the bottom
The pro motion 120hz displays on Iphone and Apple devices are adaptative for a better long batery life, its just the app you are opening or where are you scrolling
He's not stupid bro my phone have 144refresh rate adaptive screen too when your screen automatically goes to 60 or 90 fps because you open some app you can just go to setting and enable 144fps again and start doing comparison on the home screen as you can see he doing the comparison on the home screen not on any app that require adaptive screen to make fps go lower

My 6 year old Redmi feels smoother than an Iphone like I literally use it for everything you can name but It still works like beast even after so much rough use not to mention I dropped it several times........ Huh take that Iphone users 🗿
Thank you for mentioning this. Coming from my Samsung S22 and scrolling through the settings menu of an iPhone 14 Pro Max this was the first thing I noticed. Scrolling felt choppy compared to my S22. After further research I figured that starting a screen recording on the iPhone would force 120Hz at all times and after starting one it felt as smooth as my Samsung. Without the screen recording it indeed must be running at 80-90Hz. I guess I'll be sticking to my much smoother S22 for now.
@@harveyscottz it's not even what??????dude what are u smoking?are u ok?go to a check up....not even android🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️.....u made my day....ok...it's sht..use your sht iphone and bloating battery samsung
It could be your animation speed. I have it sped up on my android, and even though the refresh speed stays the same, app animations feel a lot smoother.
iPhone's LTPO display is behind all these so the screen resolution is dynamic, maybe at this point the screen resolution fell to 90hz so it feels 90hz.
I predicted this years ago. IOS has been smooth and consistent mostly because of the way most scrolling speed and animations have been slowed down. Whereas Android, given its laggy experience in the past, has been improving its software at the same time maintaining that fast scroll speeds and animations. It's obvious now that they've finally achieved this, giving you the overall faster yet smooth experience.
The fact most people don't realize there's a button in iOS which is turned on by default which sets normal activities to 90 Hz so he's not being truthful
Not only that, but Android has an option in developer settings that says "force peak refresh rate" which will force 120 HZ on most or all apps even if they're built for 60 Hz
The way Samsung is improving is commendable.. They are breaking that barrier of iPhone is superior...OneUI is smooth AF with their long-term software updates, Slowly building their ecosystem,Video capabilities and so on. Truly Amazing

You do know that Samsung also has adaptive refresh rate right? And still they provide a smoother experience while having the same battery life as iPhones.. It all depends on optimization.. If the phone has a 120 hz display, and even though using adaptive refresh, if you don't get a smooth experience, its useless.. It should feel like 120 hz when you want it to..
it’s because of ProMotions adaptive refresh rate on apple. If you start screen recording it will lock your phone at 120hz as when screen recording your phone can’t use a varied refresh rate without the recording looking odd.
