    • @raquel66
      @raquel66 Před 3 lety +11

      I find this is hard because we've been taught that love is a feeling, but in the Scriptures, it is a verb, an action. I've found two things quite useful when it is hard to love a difficult person. One, showing him kindness by doing practical things for him, even if I don't feel like that at all. If those little actions of goodness or kind words and gestures are repeated, his harshness may start to melt away. And two, pray for him, even force yourself to do so. You just can't pray for someone and hate him at the same time. After some times trying, I surprised myself feeling a deep compassion for the little boy who was so hardened by circumstances in life and had nobody to guide him better. I hope this helps. If we obey the Lord and try to love, feelings will finally come, maybe much later.

    • @isilverwind
      @isilverwind Před 3 lety

      I am not Dr. Pietre, so anyone who finds this wrong, please correct me.
      However in my understanding, Luke 17:26-37 is a parallel of Matthew 24:37-44 where Jesus describes the end times where one would be taken away and one will stay behind. But, Luke's version has something extra, the disciples asked where the people who disappeared will be taken to. Our protestant brothers and sisters refer to this as the as part of their teachings on rapture.
      The thing is, when you read it closely it doesn't explain rapture as most people understand it. Jesus says that, like in the times of Noah, people will be taken away. But those taken away will not be taken to heaven. Instead Jesus says, "Where the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together". The original word used for eagle here refers to carrion feeding birds. That's why in other translations the word is "vulture". We know that birds eating your flesh is a type of torture as described in Revelation.
      So plainly put, Jesus is saying -- in the end days, those who will be taken away, will go to hell.

      Mark 13:32 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
      Acts 1:7 Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.
      Be generous:
      Why should we give generously?
      1 John 3:16-18
      This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
      Acts 20:35
      In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
      Luke 11:13
      If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
      Matthew 6:19-21
      “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
      Malachi 3:10-12
      “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.

    I don't think this is a parable about how to be saved or obtain salvation. It's more about the goats than about the sheep. It's saying whoever harms God's chosen, his children this is their fate. It's literally talking about people who mistreated Christians, only. God gives us his righteousness. We don't earn Eternal life. You can't use one part of scriptures without comparing it to other scriptures and jump to the assumption that if we're nice to people we earn Eternal life.

    The sheep obeyed the 2nd commandment, and they are going to inherit the kingdom of God, because they loved Jesus through neighbor / brethren...
    The goats did not obeyed the 2nd commandment, and they are going to go to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire, because they didn't love Jesus through neighbor / brethren...
    If you love your neighbor, you love God..if you don't love your neighbor, you don't love God...

    In 2 corinthians 9:7, God loves a cheerful giver...if you are a cheerful giver, God loves you...
    In 1 corinthians 13, if you don't have love, you are nothing...if you sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you don't have love, you are nothing...
    In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus is not saying: did you keep the Sabbath? Did you speak in tongues? Did you cast out demons? Did you worship God on Saturday or on Sunday?
    In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus is going to say to the sheep: when you did it to the least of the brethren, you did it to me...

    Who are the least of Christ’s flock? Would that not apply to the 60 million unborn babies who have been dismembered, dissected, and vacuumed out of their mother’s wombs dead and thrown into the trash after their body parts are harvested? Ave Maria.

      The least are the ones Jesus mentioned. The hungry, poor, sick, imprisoned, etc. Reading your politics into the text is a sin

      @@MasterKeyMagic Unborn babies are without any protection or fortune in this world. You defend the genocide of abortion to try to deflect from your own sin. The Didache clearly states that abortion is a grave and mortal sin. This has been true since the time of the original apostles. 😜

    Romans 10:9-11 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."
    Amen. Glory to God.

    Disappointing. Sometimes Dr. Pitre takes up time repeating what the text is clearly saying, and has little extra to elucidate at the end. We could be learning some other things, such as: Who are "the least of these my brethren"? He seems to be implying that works of mercy are to be offered to our fellow Christians, at least primarily. And what about the word "punishment"? Many these days claim that the "door to hell is closed from the inside." But there it is "punishment" which is never a choice by the one being punished. This of course places the moral burden of eternal punishment on God, with all the problems this entails. After all, even if he created Hell for the fallen angels, he did foreknow that men would end up there, so where is the Divine Justice in this? This is one of the most powerful messages in the NT. More explanations are needed here.

But since God only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman, that means you cannot marry the same sex in the eyes of the lord, so even if you legally marry in the secular world, you sin the moment you have sex.
