  • Indonesia is ramping up its strategy to capture more of its commodity value chain and the latest mineral to face restrictions is bauxite. Indonesia's ban on raw bauxite exports began over the weekend. It is part of an overall strategy by President Joko Widodo to encourage more downstream processing of metals within the country.

Good strategy! Want bauxite, come over to Indonesia - set up mines, invest in modern bauxite factories and boost employment in Indonesia to export high value bauxite finished products.
No more exports of low value raw & unprocessed bauxite from Indonesia to feed factories & create employment in foreign countries!

the ban on the sale of palm oil to Europe is purely because of politics driven by global interests. Europe plays as if Indonesia has to stop selling palm oil because of deforestation while the forests in Europe are almost gone 70%, does the world only have to be supported by Indonesian forests? Doesn't Europe have to return the forests they have leveled instead of lecturing Indonesia? So this palm oil issue is purely political, I say, because the price of Indonesian palm oil is cheaper than European sunflower oil and there is more production and the quality is no less good, Europe is only afraid that if palm oil products are sold, the European people will have no fields. oil-related jobs. So if Europe sues Indonesia to 𝙒𝙏𝙊 regarding the ban on the export of mining products, how can Indonesia be sued, while the mining products belong to Indonesia, not to the world? can you enlighten me with logic that makes sense 😇

Of course, bauxite is not just aluminium, it's Galium, the tiny high power Galium Nitride (GaN) chargers used for EV/mobile phone chargers.
International opinion always avoid mentioning Galium, they always say "aluminium" which is far less value.

It may be nobody in Indonesia (ordinary peoples) realized that in the bauxite rough rocks, there are germanium and gallium of rare earth material. Also, little of them knowing it only in tin raw material, such as in Bangka Island. China is the first producer of this material exported to the west. But so far, China is an importer 90% of bauxite from Indonesia.

Equality is the key to international trade cooperation and this has long been underestimated by developed countries in order to control the natural resources of developing countries. Basically, Indonesia is actually very open to international cooperation. We currently want full equality in utilizing our natural resources for the prosperity of the Indonesian people.

President Joko Widodo possesses great foresight as he recognizes this opportunity and ardently pursues it, despite the discontent of the EU and other parties. He remains committed to advancing the down-streaming agenda. It is desirable that his successor maintains his policy. Hopefully, the presidential candidate advocating for change will be unsuccessful.
