I wonder if Mother Anistra was the one turning Mae into smoke trying to protect her by making her disappear. Using that much power didn’t allow her to totally disappear herself like Mother Koril did and that’s why Sol was able to stab her with his light saber.
Thanks, Derek! 🌑 You're the first reacter (that I've seen, and I've seen a lot) who vocally noticed the "we must be sacrificed" misquote little 'Mae' conveyed to 'Indara' and 'Sol'... which had a huge impact. They literally thought the girls were in mortal danger. 🔸 It's also wild to learn that 'Sol' was imposing his own wants (to have a Padawan... even though he might not be ready) onto the situation. He even almost lost his temper with 'Indara' at the end. Looked like he was set to hit her. That shows a very un-Jedi-like conflict that adds to his motivations. 🔸 And don't get me started on 'Torbin' being all immature from boredom and homesickness. 🔸 As you noted, 'Indara' turned out to be the most reasonable one of all.
If Mae had quoted her mom correctly it's possible none of this would have happened

You're absolutely right, so much can be done with a solid 45 minutes (excluding intro and credits). And also, Star Wars has loads alien languages, they need to use one of those for their rituals. That would be a lot less cringey. 🖖

(I think the episode length pacing thing is a studio decision. Aside from Andor, it been an issue with many of the shows.)
I liked this episode a lot, it shows that this event was so much more complex than we could have known. Sol allowed himself to be controlled by his fear, but it’s his emotions that are the most compelling. He’s a flawed hero.

Great reaction and analysis! I've watched this episode more times than the others and I really enjoyed how the story threads tied themselves together.
Best episode of the season so far! Also Torben is so so good with a saber!
I did not particularly enjoy this episode much. There was lots of build up expectations for it and it kind not delivered them in my opinion. Too many inconsistencies in the story and too many going back to scenes we have already seen.
As you said, everyone was a mess except Indara. It's hard to see Sol as a Master Jedi when he acts so irrationally and honestly, his instant "attraction" to Mae to be his Padawan came off a bit creepy.
Only one episode left and they have to explain Quimir's story and give some kind of resolution to all this. It's gonna be tricky, I hope the pull it off.
It's possible that the vergance is why people were acting weirdly. It wouldn't surprise me if all those different forces coming together made a couple people unbalanced
It was my understanding that they were taking a Rashomon approach to the story. Rashomon was a masterpiece and highly recommended watch. In it everyone has their point of view and no two are alike. The true story is never revealed. Lucas was a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa. I think most complaints about this series is from people with purely western centric expectations of story telling. Many of our most famous westerns were lifted directly from Kurosawas films.
@@fxbear watch latest breakdown of the episode from NewRockstars. They explain well the similarities and differences from the Rashomon approach in this episode.
I personally think this episode was more like "this is actually what happened" than seeing a series of events in a subjective way without telling us the actual reality (Rashomon).
@@SleepyWaffles that too but I would have loved more background on Sol. He clearly is not a classic Jedi from what we saw on previous episodes and in this one, they pointed out that he doesn't have a Palawan yet when he should have one by now.
I think him acting weird is a bit "on brand". I wish we knew why. :)
Pacing and structure has been awkward which can explain some odd shifts I felt during episodes. Overall the show is interesting.
