@@kitlow2970 hell nah people try so hard to be on denial, im a huge fan of prequels but this was better than most of the duels in the them ngl, those camera tricks have always been used with choreographies, even in the prequels
Dont try to take away the merit from everything, to be honest, the only mindblowing duels from the prequels were when Obi Wan was alone against Maul, and the Anakin VS Obi Wan duel, the rest are normal duels who are easily at the level of this

@kitlow2970 I disagree. The prequel fights were ass. Especially when they involved a cgi Yoda hopping all over the place. It just looked goofy. The only one that anyone ever remembers is the Duel of Fates fight, and in my opinion, I thought the Maul fight was better. The thing about the fights in this show is that they look like actual fights. Like the characters are actually trying to kill each other. Whereas a lot of the prequel fights (and the sequel fights too) look clearly choreographed. Like one person does their action and then they wait for the other person to make their move. And it just goes back and forth. Watch the Ahsoka show if you really want to see what I mean. They are the worst offender of bad fight choreography.

Question, since the new Thrawn books are canon: in the Legends, cortosis was a metal, but in the new canon books wasn't it depicted as a fiber, a mineral that had to be woven or fashioned into armor with another base material? Either way, yeah, it's cortosis.

I'm so glad they introduced this element because not only does ark and back to the Jedi sith War, which I imagine both factions had very samurai like armor and fighting tactics, which I hope we get to see one day, especially on the big screen. But one of the biggest problems with just lightsaber battles is that because of how lethal and the 360 cutting edge of the lightsaber removes a lot of the sword fighting Dynamics that you would see in actual sword fighting, such as on a downswing stepping on your opponent's sword so it can't move and then you get a free strike kill. Adding lightsaber, resistive stuff and other elements is what makes these sword fights actual fights and I hope they keep this up.

Kylo Ren survived cause Rey is a Mary-Sue, Grand Inquistor survived, Reva survived TWICE, Sabine survived, and most likely, Barriss survived being stabbed. That's 6 lightsaber stabbings that people have survived since Disney took over with only Han Solo dying from being stabbed.

@@groundbreaker1052 The first knight of Ren is Ren himself, and I'm not sure he was even born by the time Acolyte took place. As far as the helmet goes, Sith helmets all look similar: A sith helmet's purpose is to amplify powers, and its roots go back thousands of years to their their warrior era during which Sith armies fought Jedi armies in mass in battlefields across the galaxy. You can notice similarities with Mandalorian helmets because they have the same ancient origins. However as time passed, the Mandalorian helmet took a more warrior-like look (resembling spartans) while Sith helmets took a more German Stahlhelm look (tyrranical). Most sith stopped wearing helmets in the last centuries as they changed tactics from direct combat to deception, and the mask became a relic of a bygone era. This coincides with the Sith growing stronger as a whole in recent times through the rule of two (more force divided by fewer individuals), a more selective apprenticeship (fewer but more talented Siths) & having Darths who lived much longer (due to being hidden, practicing and not being lost in endless wars). Darth Venamis, who is the one in this show, is one of the WEAKEST modern-age Siths, which might explain why he needs the helmet!

Mae's "flip-flopping" makes sense because shes in a changing situation. She learns her sister is alive, so she doesn't need to work with the master anymore because the main manipulation is disproven. She learns her master is here, so she runs to avoid being killed or forced to be his apprentice again. She has an opportunity to get closer to Sol, and we'll get to see if you actually let the show tell its damn story.
Sol definitely knows its Mae from sensing, her hair, her demeanor and her tattoo. He is going to see what Mae's plan is, as well as get an opportunity to explain his guilt to Mae (like we saw with the other three Jedi from that day).

Sol really isn't going to notice the tattoo or can't sense it's the wrong twin (or can't smell burnt hair?) Agggghh, the writing on this show is still so unnecessarily subpar. Also, when Qimir floated down after escaping the insects, they played Kylo Ren's theme which was an interesting choice. One thing I haven't seen/heard is maybe Qimir is a Knights of Ren type instead of part of the Sith duality usually wandering around. This could side step the problem with the fact Darth Tenebrous is supposed to be the Sith of this era.

A murder mystery? it's either Mae who killed everyone or it's the Jedi's who slaughtered them or the witch queen girl. Either way it's terrible writing. If it's Mae who killed them, then that means a huge stone fortress caught on on fire from a single book and caused severe damage to the structure of a non flammable stone fortress and instantly killed everyone. If it's the Jedi's then that means Jedi's slaughtered a large group of unarmed planet dwellers all for some random girl named Osha who ends up leaving anyway. If it's the witch queen girl then it means she did a mind control on a Jedi and forced the Jedi to slaughter her people, the same community she was building for so long and then let the Jedi's walk away unharmed.

There is an Order from the SWTOR MMORPG called the Revanites who study the dark and light side and practice a balance. i could imagine him being someone who fell upon the information from Revan and has struck a balacne within himself. he says "i came to peace with my dark side" and that REALLY had me thinking he could be someone like Revan.

It's not just the Jedi who limit Force sensitive people from using their powers, its the Republic as well. Some 1000years ago when the Sith became a separate Sekt there was war and suffering everywhere, and hoping to ensure peace, the Republic (and Jedi) obviously wanted to limit the number of bad people using the Force. Not all Force-sensitive children join the Order, if you never learn or use your powers they "disappear" and weaken like an unused muscle.

I think my biggest issue of the episode is that Sol and Osha seem to have a special connection and was her master for nearly 10 years or whatever while having spent nearly 0 time with Mae, but can't tell them apart.

Qimir/The stranger is not a Sith
He said that the Jedi would call him a Sith because that's the closest thing that match him in their codex (advanced dark force user using a red lightsaber)
He's at best aspiring to be one as he knows about their rules and beliefs and look for an Acolyte

Jecki was the MVP of the group while being the least experienced. The other jedi (masters? Knights?) all died without doing any damage to Qimir, while Jecki was the one that could remove his mask and fought way above her status/experience. Idk if with a 1 vs. 1 Sol could have gotten the helmet off and survived. Given the helmet material’s effect on lightsabers, it seems basically like a self sacrifice play to get the helmet off.
Overall loved the action, but some of the dialogue from Qimir seemed kind of cringe.

I was accounting for Star Wars fan being particular about lore rules and stuff that maybe I am not privy to. With regards to attacking May, when you see a super powerful move used where you’re nearly raffling an individual and your friends lives are in danger, it feels weird to do anything else. It’s like introducing a gun in the middle of a fight but choosing to throw a fist when your friends could die. Overall, the show is more flowery, so it’s fine. It’s just hard not to notice when it’s on the heels of seeing so many Jedi getting executed like fish in a barrel.

We are watching fiction, sooo, bare with me, try to understand a fiction logical reason as to not spam the same op move, like, why would thor not use the infinity war move on everything? Or whatever other example
They’re flawed characters, maybe heat of the moment, maybe Mae’s priority is getting out of there and not helping, maybe it needs a recharge, maybe it’s, as you say it, “super powerful” that it makes you tired… so much stuff
Anyways, you answer to several comments, don’t know if you read them all, but I’ll say it again, was a big fan, loved your reactions, but, staying on theme, you went to the dark side, the hate, the nitpicking is so forced 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's a 1/10 for breaking lore for me. You're absolutely right about Ki Adi Mundi, the Jedi that was in the meeting in episode 1 of the show and is on the High Council in the Phantom Menace. Him being there would mean that he would most likely have gotten information about the Sith. Only way that he doesn't is if everyone, including the twins, are killed by the Sith. The fighting was by far the best we've gotten from Disney so far, but it was still not Prequel level. It was far more fun than watching Rey and Kylo swinging their sabers as if they were bats. Also, can we talk about how the evil twin was somehow able to fight and kill a Master in the first scene of the first episode, yet loses to a Padawan? And how the Padawan was able to put up a far better fight than 5 no name Jedi and Sol who are more trained and have more years of experience than her? And I can't believe they are actually trying to pull off 'Parent Trap in Space'.

They have a power level issue in this series. Why does Mae struggle with a padawan (Jecki ) when she had already demonstrated her ability to kill Jedi masters. Why does discount Ezra Miller (the presumed Sith Lord but will likely turn out to be an apprentice to another Sith Lord) struggle against a padawan (Jecki ) when he was shown to be powerful enough to easily take out Jedi masters...
At this point, I wouldn't be surprise if one of the Jedi masters turns out to be the real Sith Lord (maybe Vernestra)

I didn’t think the person the master turned out to be was going to be the one because it felt too obvious, felt like a red herring they added so they could deliver a big surprise reveal later when it’s someone else, but I guess the script is not that layered, feels a bit like ChatGPT wrote it…

Well.. we're in the middle of battle and mind reading takes some concentration. We can't risk multitasking here. That's how I would explain not reading Qimir's mind. When Sol asked Qimir to show his face Qimir responded, "and let you read my thoughts?". "Let you" being key, implying he has to comply in order for someone to read his mind.

Sol is the sole Jedi who knows that the Sith have returned and if Mae does not kill him on the way to Coruscant I don’t believe that any of his colleagues are going to believe him especially Kiadi Mundi and they certainly won’t believe the civilian tracker on board because he is a civilian and he knows nothing of official Jedi business.

A story is been told in episodes for a season just like chapters in novels. I think viewing and critiquing it episode by episode is counter-intuitive. Not all stories need to entertain from start to finish. Comments like this episode is an improvement of the previous ones is kinda lame.

    • @CinePals
      @CinePals  Před 2 dny

A well told story doesn’t leave the viewer frustrated but excited and intrigued. I have no expectation that the entire thing should be resolved in one episode. That’s not the issue. Chapters or episodes need to disguise the fact they are deliberately leaving out information that is being revealed later. That’s the magic of a good writer(s). A great story with mystery has you asking questions and answers it in a way that leaves you just satisfied enough but still wanting more. True Detective (S1), Breaking Bad, 24, Arcane… all shows of different genres but each episode had me so engaged, giving me just enough satisfaction at the end of an episode but left me wanting more and coming back for the next episode. It’s the job of the tv show to stay interesting otherwise the viewer might not come back. It’s completely fair to say this episode was an improvement if the overall quality was better than the prior. If the previous episode was only a set up for this episode and wasn’t interesting on its own as a mini story, that is not good writing. Lastly, I don’t think chapters and episodes are 1 to 1. Have you ever read a Patterson novel? Some chapters are a page and a half, some are several pages. And the rules are totally different there because it’s a novel.
