It takes decades sometimes to understand why people are jealous of another person. Usually it's because one individual possesses something (whether it's real or imagined) that another individual lacks in his or her mind. This is especially true in families and some friendships. Jealousy is a hidden cruelty. There is a life saying; "Don't let your eyes cause your Soul to become dark"!

I’ve dealt with extreme jealousy for close to forty years, from family and pretend friends. I’ve learned that they have many underlying issues and a lot of the outward jealousy had nothing to do with me. But with their own insecurities, low self esteem, and some just wanting to be agents of chaos. Sometime you need to distance yourself from the negativity. And hope one day they will realize how much wasted energy and time they wasted. Embrace positive emotions and discord the negativity. Live is too short.
When I feel someone is jealous of me , honestly i feel good because I know I’m doing something great in life . I know I’m fulfilling my dreams and I really don’t care if they are jealous.

Obviously I admired on others qualities or gifts they had but having been poor made me humble besides I cherished friendship and in order to keep friends for life you must be generous and want their happiness

As I look back I can see multiple friends being jealous of me excelling in life. They were quiet. They didn’t do no harm. It’s human nature. But others talked behind my back. That’s what you call “small minds”,

In my opinion, I think the reason why people are jealous is because they have nothing going on in their own lives to appreciate and be thankful for. So they envy those who have achieved and are thankful for their blessings in life. Those are the low vibe, low energy, and negative people you need to stay away from. They will only bring you down.

My ma tried to strangle me when I was 15. She lied to her husband and daughter that I had attacked her. She never told them the truth.
My supposed friend actually came out and told me she was jealous of me. It was really weird going forward. Our relationship didn’t last much longer, She actually told me that she had a friend who ring was larger than my engagement/wedding ring. The really weird and odd thing was she didn’t have a ring herself. She never gave compliments, I always encouraged and complimented her. It became too exhausting I couldn’t make up for her insecurities.
Also notice the mean looks they throw your way, when they think you aren’t looking their way.
I have been talking to someone else and when I look over at this person, the look on her face is anger and her eyes have grown dark .

The gut instincts tell me the same thing.
The problem is she is part of the family of in laws and it’s almost impossible to not have contact, otherwise she WOULD never be a part of my life or be my friend.
I generally don’t like to hear someone brag about themselves all the time. But that doesn’t make me jealous. It makes them narcissists.
Fear of being considered inferior causes people to mention accomplishments some interpret as braggadocio.
Exactly, i have no problem celebrating an accomplished or good news with a person, but you can absolutely tell the difference between overjoyed with happiness or pride about something, verses trying to overcompensate for an insecurity or just trying to elevate their status above someone else's...generally yours...lol But on the other hand, I freakin hate two faced people who are jealous of any good news I have. I have been around people who were both not only jealous of my lot in life, (which in all honesty was not all that great, but must have been seen by them as something to envy), and they were also bragidocios douchbags. I figured this out pretty early, and instinctively knew to keep my guard up. In all honestly I should have been less accommodating and less of a tolerant person, and cut them out of my life sooner. I probably didn't do this, because I was really close with the husband initially, (which his wife could not stand, but two faced cowards won't tell you this) and I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. Eventually I realized they were both two sides of the same coin. I got my own potshots in there though along the way, but looking back, I should have just stopped trying. Life is short, don't waste your time or energy on toxic relationships if you don't have to.

I have a friend at work who will always try to be nice to any workmate who l have an altercation with. She is always on her phone any time I'm telling her how great my boyfriend is
I had that happen at all jobs I worked at. There was always ONE or TWO people trying to stir up trouble. They were always the people who had some kind of power or authority over others.

It's in human nature to be jealous... In fact jealousy makes you excel in life if you work harder but just don't become a hater of good things..
I've always felt like if I needed to one up someone else I was not being true to myself and what I really wanted.
I mean I really look at it as like an emotion a person should have a grip on by the time of adulthood, and it's more of an insecurity thing than anything else. I have seen people make horribly wrong life choices because of competition and jealousy. And yes I would call going to a job you hate everyday for 20 something years just so you can afford to keep up with or out do someone else an absolute waste of a person's life...no matter how much that job pays. What we do not realize when we are young is that life is short, and your prime years are really short. At the end of it all nobody really gives a shit how you've spent your life, but you can absolutely regret not living it to its fullest, and that dam sure ain't working your time away for things that wind up owning you.

Jealousy gives a person unhappiness. Every human being has got right to grow. If you want, you also grow. Do not envy. If you envy you are lazy and useless or perhaps you may be lacking in something. Try to grow where you are lacking. Then you can overcome it.
Good information.for a very long time,I had been warned against a woman I was calling a friend.of her level of jealousy.that she feins happiness and support for friends achievements until recently.she discounted any achievements I had made recently, literally watering them down coz they were big ones.making comparisons with her other friends ahievements.she must have pretended for long until she couldn't.
It's always fun to recap your achievements with those kind of people. Make sure that when they try to downplay your accomplishment you just blow it off and go right back to celebrating...lol It will drive them nuts, and they may even label you a braggard, but it's really really fun to watch them lose there shit all because you are happy. Be as absolutely happy as you can around these miserable people. May they never change🥂

I too have faced this when I was working, with a fellow colleagues,I taught her the work guided her in the work and she was always speaking lies about me and spreading false rumours about me,I tried my best to ignore her for most of it, 😅😅😅as my boss also was encouraging her and was making false statements about me to her.

I am a good person. I even gave a former male friend 3 chances. He let me down, 3 times. He told 4 people,(1 couple & 2 single people), he knows I hated, confidential things. When I found this out, I ended the friendship. The he backstabbed me. He's jealous of me. I'm working, he bludges ! He even talks to my scumbag, former male neighbour. Jealousy is a curse. I trust few people now ! The older I get, the less I want to be around people. But I have to work with people. I spend my time off, with my pets. I love their company.
