The track they went too was owned by my father. I grew up working on it. Seans father was called Joe a great man who took no bullshit. My brother now runs the track.

@@seanoneill3744 mate i remember Sean as a Child when he would come with his father Joe to our track. His Father Joe died suddenly one night on his way home from Brandywell track in Derry. I personally haven't been involved in greyhounds for over 30 years now and haven't seen Sean in about the same . My Brother is the guy in the video at the schooling track with the glasses. His name is Damian McCann and the track is call Taylorstown Schooling track. If you can get incontact with him , he will put you in the direction of Sean. I have the tracks number but youtube isn't the place to put it up.

Good show. I have a retired racer. Note they have lots of room to run and generally lead great doggy lives, far than most house pets. Most anti racing groups/types really don't know chit about it, and spew nonsense. Now, what happens after their race career is usually the issue. In the US, adoption is close to 100%, often with waiting lists. I can't vouch for Ireland and UK, but I hear they could do better in that area.

@@sinade5091 If I'm heartless, people like you are brainless. I can't speak for Irish dog racing, only US as already indicated. However, in the US they will invent stats and simply lie to get what they want ( a ban on racing) and the facts don't matter at all to them. I have little doubts it's like that in other places, but to repeat, I do know not all countries treat their ex racers well, and that needs to stop. Note how well the dogs in the very vid you're commenting are treated. Derp.

Writing from India. Good insight in the way Greyhounds are bred and well kept. Ive owned a Saluki (whose father was imported from Sweden) for 10 years and now after she died got a pair. Can't wait to watch part 2. PETA has stopped bullock cart racing in India. In the comments I read they are after the Hounds...what's next Horse racing and then the Olympics 😂😉

@@Charlie-cc3jl People go to great lengths to adopt these dogs because they are exceptional pets. There is a lot of old information (from back before all animals were treated better) and straight up misinformation from passionate but misguided people who don't do their research into the actual industry. Flawed though it may be, the dogs in racing are largely treated very well, loved and given homes after their career, however long or short. At worst they are a commodity for winning money, but even then that makes them incredibly valuable and so they are treated well. They also have to be treated well and kept healthy to perform at their best. The concern has always been after retirement, but there are so many looking to adopt them now.
