5 Things I Wish I Knew BEFORE BUYING A Infiniti G35 !

  • As you all very well know the Infiniti G35 is by far my favorite car. Regardless here are five things about the Infiniti G35 that I wish I had known prior to buying one.
    1. Fuel pump issues seem to naturally happen when you own a Vq engine, so most of the time I/you have no idea how much gas we have in our tanks but atleast can be easily fixed.
2.Oem Paint when I first purchased the g35 it was repainted black but on my other g35 had gem paint which was sadly terrible . Both of my cars ended up needing to get repainted at a shop. Then again what do you expect purchasing a old car compared to new.
    3. I personally did NOT know how to drive manual when purchasing the g35 so I regret not buying a stick shift G.
    4. Value of the Infiniti G35 deprecation , I over paid for this car and didn't realize how much cheaper I could've purchased it at.
    5. Oil Consumption- the Infiniti G35 LOVES oil and burns through gas and oil like crazy I've heard they recommend a oil catch can to resolve this problem.

Just for anyone who doesn't know just use your odometer to keep track of your gas if you don't want to replace the fuel sensor i say about 200 miles is when you need to gas her up again. Nice vid though

Definitely can get over 320 miles on a full tank. My gas guage still works, but I'm usually at half a tank at 160ish. That will it running lean sometimes so my gas mileage fluctuates between 16-18mpg. I never run it with less than a quarter tank. Gotta keep that full pump cool.

I installed an oil catch can, mine has two inlets and one outlet. It's baffled so I can run a closed system. I have both banks running from the valve covers pcv system to the OCC. Then the outlet running to the vacuum to the lower plenum.
It definitely helps keep everything clean, I'll empty it maybe once a month. It'll catch about an oz or so. It helped with oil consumption too. Before I was having to put like a qt of oil in every 1k or so. Now I only have to top it off maybe 1/2 a qt every 1k. Just depends if I'm driving it hard or not. It definitely helps keep all that blow by from being sucked back into the engine.

It sounded like he bought a car that was rode hard and beaten into the ground, so now the wise one thinks all g35's are shit like his. And wow that car is dirty, look at the up close shots of his interior, you can tell the previous owner didn't care about this car. I paid $7200 for my 2003 Canadian 6 speed g35 coup (better than any US sold one in the same year since you can't get many of the Canadian options in the 2003 US version) and it has absolutely none of these problems, but that's probably because it wasn't beaten into the ground, and because it only has 60k miles.

  • @Illwriteitcom
    @Illwriteitcom Před 3 lety +97

Funny, my 2003 has the original paint on it, goes 7.5k-10k between oil changes, uses no oil, never has a problem with the fuel gauge, and etc. Maybe you should of bought one with 60k miles on it, instead of one with 200k miles on it that has been beaten into the ground.

The engine oil consumption issues is mainly with the 2003-2005 if I remember correctly? 🤔
I believe Infiniti fixed that with the 2006-2007 model year.

I'm very lucky to have a very reliable G35 coupe so far (knock on wood) lol 😆😄

@@OfficialKingJoe ok. I see. I believe the issues you are suggesting is not really common. Commonly those engines are rather bullet proof and hardly consumes a zero oil between the changes. I was very surprised you had those issues and this suggest me that car previously was not maintenance well, maybe. Cause what you have experienced is certainly not normal.

I feel like if you had two vq’s for that long you def babied the fuck out of your shit, I got my z for two weeks and it threw a rod and was consuming so much oil before hand, I have had nonstop trouble with pedal sensors and throttle bodies and crank/cam sensors, so idk what you talkin bout my z has not been very realizable, not to mention the Grindy geara

@@slipperylatex872 definitely a plenum spacer it changes the whole dynamic of the car. Combined with a CAI it gives it a beastly growl.
While you have everything apart when installing the plenum spacer. Use that to replace valve cover gaskets. I just got a new set with gaskets and hardware for $55 on ebay. Painted them this silver color. Changed my plugs and coil packs. Cleaned the hell out of plenum and intake manifolds. I then painted the plenum a 🔵 color. It awakened this car by alot. Before I couldn't even touch the plenum it'd be so hot. Now I can drive it 4 hrs straight and whenever I touch it it's cool to the touch. I also have a CAI so that helps.
