All the YTA comments for OP1 about him supposedly not pulling his weight and that being the reason behind his wife’s reaction is laughable. You can be overwhelmed by childcare and burnt out to hell and back but that typically doesn’t drive a parent to put them up for adoption.

It's acceptable misandry. It's the man fault regardless. I have commented on a friend being almost deleted by a woman and someone basically defended her and said I am sure she got a reason. For the second story:
Why on earth did Sil forced OP to wear a dress that was extremely short, I mean seriously, even though the seamstress did her best to make sure she butt was covered she was STILL exposed. If her butt was still showing after all that tailoring, then they needed to find a new dress ( the one that op changed into) or have someone else take her place. The fact that OP's entire family said she was being dramatic for having feminine modesty is just out right wrong......... she literally had to hold the hem of her dress the entire time until she was able to change.

Story 2 - SiL in that story was definitely bullying OP the brother saw and did nothing, he claims that he defended her in school, even though she never noticed. Can almost guarantee he embellished that story to make himself a good guy and because OP was good at paying back favours, even fake ones. My mum definitely had it, but it developed after 5 months and it has affected her whole life but she's gotten help, therapy and my dad supported her through it. To the OP in this story: Not the a*hole. You had every right to say that you were uncomfortable due to the dress not fitting you properly and to want an apology from your Sister- in- Law. And while it is unfortunate that she had to find out your perspective in the manner she did, she definitely needed to have a serious wake- up call. Therefore, from one autistic person to another, my advice would be to engage in your favourite hobby and surround yourself with people who respect your boundaries and value your feelings.

1: yeah Reddit was crazy for going after OP the first time before he elaborated. Regardless of what’s going on, trying to adopt your kids out from under your husband is not an acceptable response. Even if she was having a mental health crisis, grabbing your children and getting them out of the house to somewhere where they are safe is the correct response to that situation. Making sure she can’t hurt them or abandon them before going back and dealing with it is how you should react because the kids are unable to do it themselves
2: I’m sorry but if even your BOSS calls it bullying, then I’m pretty sure it’s bullying. I think the cousin getting angry on OPP behalf is great -stop somebody needs to since the rest of the family was determined to make OP’s fault for how SIL treated her until she laid it out to strangers. Also if I was OP I would reevaluate my relationship with my mom - she doesn’t notice a lot of things and thought she was a liar most of her life???? wtf

This is scary. There seems to be a clear correlation between mental health conditions and people who pursue Art degrees in college. I know correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation, but I'm happy OP in Story 1 managed to save his children from whatever his wife was capable of doing before she could do it.
We've sadly seen over the years many women suffering from severe mental health conditions outright ending their children in bathtubs, so at least OP saw the signs of discontent and was willing to press her on what was wrong until she admitted to wanting to do away with their kids, albeit in a less lethal manner in this case.

I get the distinct feeling that if Op had been home more he would have picked up on his wife's issues. They did not just pop up overnight. She had been neglecting those kids all along. It IS unusual to have the first psychotic break at her age. It more commonly shows up in the late teens-early twenties.
No parent with young children should voluntarily be totally absent for 25% of their children's lives. Notice that he immediately got a job without travel when he had no choice. He SHOULD be guilty for telling himself nothing was wrong so he could continue being away from home.
