If you're not in love with any of these colors - I'd suggest going for the Modern. It is a better guitar - but a 7lb Muse with upgraded pickups would be a force to be reckoned with!

I am glad I watched this review. I have searched through many reviews and this one pretty much sealed the deal for me. The guitar has a treble bleed circuit that is supposed to be beneficial at lower volumes. That wasn't mentioned in this review. But it is actually a nice feature to have if you have a day sleeper at your house. My wife is an RN that works nights in the ER so I have to keep the volume down during the day. So over all this guitar really fit the bill for me. The coil splitting and phase control is also nice to have. I was going to go with the modern and accidentally stumbled on this guitar. Once I read the specs and watched some reviews I was sold. The Radio Blue or the green one are the two I'll probably have to hash out. The sparkly finish is a big draw for me. I'm trying to also get my grandson and granddaughter playing. That finish will definitely grab their attention.

Some of the less popular colours in the range (such as the black, which looks awesome but is not well demonstrated in stock photos) are actually pretty cheap now too. I got the jet black metallic SG Muse for £249 which is ridiculously cheap for a mid-range Epi like this. The specs are basically identical between the SG and LP Muse range.

The lighter weight is why I got one for myself. I'm 42 years old, have neck and shoulder pain, and this is the only way I could comfortably play an LP. All my other guitars are semi-hollow (PRS CE24 SH, Schecter C-1 E/A, and a Squier thinline Telecaster). I'm with you, it's beautiful and really impressive. Tone, feel, and even the look are great. My daughter likes my Wonderlust green, but wants the blue for herself. I might just have to indulge her. The fret ends did need a little work but I took it for a setup and my local shop did the frets too.

Hey Trogly, I've seen a neck tenon like that! In my late 70s/early 80s Japanese (Matsumoto factory) made "Profile" Les Paul copy, although in mine it extends into the "long" neck tennon routing. Some other Matsumoto made guitars of the same era have that type of offset tenon too apparently

So should I go back to my Dot, Les Paul, SG, Mockingbird (all Asian) and Mexi-Strat and squeeze them back together, or...? Always need to be careful when doing anything, especially mechanically speaking, but I'm 5 for 5 on on my loose knobs with cheap POTs. Haven't run across loose POTs yet, but that is another problem. I assumed he had loose knobs, as he was noting he could still push/pull without it coming off. Just going on the information I have available to me.

epiphone are truly kicking ass, almost all their les pauls and sgs are fantastic, the hollowbodies are great, same with squier their classic vibes and paranormals are great but imo the others are hit n miss, so all in all I reckon epiphone are better than squier in term of bringing out guitars but I prefer the fender designs, though you are making me want to re consider the les paul

I have the SG Muse in Pearl White - a classy color in that pearl - doesn't hurt too many feelings. It is NOT weight relieved and seems to fill a niche that the real Gibson doesn't regardless of the push/pull and phase (why do you want that pull knob handier? You'll NEVER use it) features. At least as far as the SG for $430 with all those foo foo features and a darn good fit n finish - a solid "D with shoulders" I call the neck - super fast - Gibson has *nothing* to compare it too...that's a GOOD thing for Epi imo. The Gibson SG I would want that plays as well as the Muse would cost $900+ more and that ain't right. Ain't like that in the Fender world. 🎸

So I have the jet black Les Paul Muse. I am a Fender fanboy, but since I got it, this Epi is my favorite guitar. The neck is soooo great. Mine weighs 7.2lbs which is awesome. I liked the classic pro humbuckers, but wanted to put in zebra's, so I swapped them out for alnico II zebra probuckers. It sounds less bright but that alnico II brilliance makes up for it without sounding shrill. In my opinion the Les Paul Muse is the hidden gem of the Epiphone line up. And because there is no Gibson equivalent, maybe a Gibson hidden gem too ;)

I'd be curious about the pots...aka 500k and or 25k...
But otherwise, locking tuners on it I could easily do,

Hey Trog, I notice that you never seem to comment on how well the guitar is set up from the factory on any guitar you preview. Personally, I have found that over the last ten years or so, the set up quality from the factories have been woefully poor. The actions come out so high you need to measure in the inches, not millimeters, poor fret jobs, etc. Gibson and Fender are the biggest culprits; whereas, Ibanez and similar seem to have better out of the box performance. I look forward to you including this sort of info in the future. Great channel!

Epi's online ... nope .... quality and build is too inconsistent (especially fretwork , nut work , and neck profiles) .. try before you buy. The colors are pretty. I like the thin body + weight relieved idea and the headstock looks a lot better now. The snap - in bridge is very nice. Sound ... is ok . Easy to swap out pups if needed :) Good review Trog ... as usual. :)

I just bought a 2020 (2019?) Epiphone 60's tribute Les Paul AAAA flame top maple veneer in the cherry sunburst and I LOVE it!! It's got push pull for coil split and phasing. It has a 57 classic in the neck and 57 classic+ at the bridge and true switch 3 way switch, I also bought the Lzzy Hale explorer and it has the regular Epiphone 3 way and yeah, huge difference!! I hate the one on the Lzzy Hale while the one on the LP is great, nice and quiet and snaps right in place. All CTS 500k Ohm pots, it's basically a Gibson with an Epiphone body and poly top. No problems with the frets and I love this neck shape. $650 and that comes with a hard case!! It has Grover, real Grover! Locking tuners and the graphtech nut.

For me, the contour of the body makes all the difference in the world. The guitar is way more comfortable ergonomically with the contour. Epiphone and Gibson should do that to more models. The author didn't like the pickups. Electronics can always be upgraded. Over, a very good review of the Muse model. I wish they had the Cherry Wine color/pattern like the classic SG. I'm not to crazy about Epiphones color choices except for the whit and all black. If this guitar were to come in Cherry/Wine color, I'd be the first to buy one. I'll write to Gibson and suggest it.

Ages ago (well, 80s-90s) I tried a LP and it just... biased me against Les Pauls. Heavy, felt like I was playing a baseball bat, I just didn't like it. I gave the Muse a shot (Arctic White - love it with the black back, actually) and I'm a convert. :) Mine does have a couple of finish issues, I think I'v ementioned them in comments in the past, but I love this thing. Tempted towards another to change out the pickups (Black or autumn with humbucker-size P90s, maybe.)

This guitar basically has the Jimmy Page wiring setup. It's just missing the series/parallel option. Put in some DiMarzio 36th anniversary PAFs or Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers would be perfect for this guitar. I plan to eventually do the Page wiring and Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers in my 2012 Ebony Les Paul Standard.
