If you're not in love with any of these colors - I'd suggest going for the Modern. It is a better guitar - but a 7lb Muse with upgraded pickups would be a force to be reckoned with!

Exactly, upgrade the pickups and you're good to go.
@@sassycat well that would make pretty much a tribute plus which they seem to have discontinued this year.
man your playing has really gotten good! i’ve been watching for a long time now and there’s definitely a big difference lately. i appreciate what you do because i’ve always loved les pauls and i have learned so much from you. the next les paul i buy will come from you because you’re one of the only people i trust anymore with these guitars.
Hmmm, have a JB/59 set w/ covers waiting for a home, maybe a get one of these instead of a shell? Does it come with a case or gigbag?
Lollar P90?
That "greenscreen" effect on the green guitar is a pretty smart idea.
So is _that_ why Trogly likes green guitars? :-/
It's a huge shift in the video edit called rotoscoping.
Simple tool but requires ALOT of patience to paint the guitar out of the background.
I think it was my favorite part of this video. He did a very good job with it.
@Philip Schlaepfer was looking for this comment

I did something along those lines but way next level in this video from a few weeks ago with my green guitar czcams.com/video/kP92kipdGTI/video.html
I'm a 48 year old man. I need me that pink one. Yeah, they call it "purple" but some of us are comfortable with that word: PINK.
yes. good for you.
While I'm only 18 I would also enjoy that pink one
Pink Lives Matter
Hey fella, we should meet up and wear flannel shirts and sip some Martinis?

That's what I call "an in depth review"! Subscribed for any other guitar tests 👍👌👏
I really like how you superimposed the colors of all of them on a live video! Looked awesome!
I am glad I watched this review. I have searched through many reviews and this one pretty much sealed the deal for me. The guitar has a treble bleed circuit that is supposed to be beneficial at lower volumes. That wasn't mentioned in this review. But it is actually a nice feature to have if you have a day sleeper at your house. My wife is an RN that works nights in the ER so I have to keep the volume down during the day. So over all this guitar really fit the bill for me. The coil splitting and phase control is also nice to have. I was going to go with the modern and accidentally stumbled on this guitar. Once I read the specs and watched some reviews I was sold. The Radio Blue or the green one are the two I'll probably have to hash out. The sparkly finish is a big draw for me. I'm trying to also get my grandson and granddaughter playing. That finish will definitely grab their attention.
Some of the less popular colours in the range (such as the black, which looks awesome but is not well demonstrated in stock photos) are actually pretty cheap now too. I got the jet black metallic SG Muse for £249 which is ridiculously cheap for a mid-range Epi like this. The specs are basically identical between the SG and LP Muse range.
Are we just gonna ignore that edit at 2:29, that was amazing!
I want to know exactly how that was done, since the camera was moving it wasn't a direct swap.
the green screen over the guitar was genius, nice touch!
Great demo riff. I hope you keep it. A great way to showcase the pickup setting differences.
Phenomenal review! You set a benchmark for others to follow. Thank you!
Gretsch has had sparkle tops for years on the Jet models. They originally used drum covers for the colors😁
Sparkle is not metallic. These are metallic. Rogers and Gretsch (especially the Ajax made UK Rogers) had killer sparkles though.. u'r right about the Jets 🎸🥁
Yea, people need to learn the difference between pearl/mica/metallic/sparkle/flake.
Ok
Wow, that's a beauty! I oddly really like the clear vol/tone knobs.
The lighter weight is why I got one for myself. I'm 42 years old, have neck and shoulder pain, and this is the only way I could comfortably play an LP. All my other guitars are semi-hollow (PRS CE24 SH, Schecter C-1 E/A, and a Squier thinline Telecaster). I'm with you, it's beautiful and really impressive. Tone, feel, and even the look are great. My daughter likes my Wonderlust green, but wants the blue for herself. I might just have to indulge her. The fret ends did need a little work but I took it for a setup and my local shop did the frets too.
This really did put me off ver honest review ! I nearly swapped my midnight prophecy plus ex for one !! Keep up the vids
Very nice 👌. I never was much of a Les Paul fan, but I think this one may change that! Thanks for the review 👍
This is a very detailed review. Great Review. Today, I purchased a used Epiphone Les Paul Muse in Pearl White Metallic color. This is a great looking and great playing guitar. Thanks for the review.
Dude, this is a great review! I was thinking about buying this green one, just because I want a Les Paul guitar, and because this one is really pretty! In the review you mentioned the Modern, and I'll check those out too, because the specs might just be little better. Subscribing now!
Oh man I remember when you first showed us this I fell in love along with the sg version in the same color
I am impressed with how the pickups sound. Suddenly, my Probuckers don't seem like such a big deal.
Been waiting for this vid for a while
I have had mine for about 6 months now. I got it because it was so different.. thanks for doing this review. I really love this guitar.
Do you think they are signicantly different than lp studios? I want tastier solo sounds, some people say muse is tastier than studio version
Thank you for reviewing this!
Hey Trogly, I've seen a neck tenon like that! In my late 70s/early 80s Japanese (Matsumoto factory) made "Profile" Les Paul copy, although in mine it extends into the "long" neck tennon routing. Some other Matsumoto made guitars of the same era have that type of offset tenon too apparently
Great review!!!🤘
I like that model in blue, prices still creeping up on Epiphones, as long as the quality rises accordingly, i am a sceptic when these models hit the shops, marketing over every other concern, if you get what i mean, another great video Austin, not to be missed.
Love that color and I think black plastic knobs and a black pickguard would better suit the green. Nice job keeping such a glossy guitar dust-free for the B-roll shots.
YES TROGLY! Just got a Blue LP Muse. 18 frets not fully seated and like you said: "frets scratchy". The knobs need a little tape to keep them on. (but clear knobs can show tape if you arent carefull)
This guitar is really nice, once I seated and dressed the frets. I did a review.
Great review as always, Trogly. And yay! This guitar is actually pretty cool before you hear how harsh and brittle it sounds, at least by Les Paul standards. ;p
Stick a larger flat blade screwdriver into the potentiometer slots and bend them out a tiny bit, the knobs will tighten right up.
I can not stress enough that you shouldn't do this. Especially with import pots. Do not do this.
Do it at your own risk. Inexpensive shafts are cast and do not like being manipulated more than fractions of a millimeter.
So should I go back to my Dot, Les Paul, SG, Mockingbird (all Asian) and Mexi-Strat and squeeze them back together, or...? Always need to be careful when doing anything, especially mechanically speaking, but I'm 5 for 5 on on my loose knobs with cheap POTs. Haven't run across loose POTs yet, but that is another problem. I assumed he had loose knobs, as he was noting he could still push/pull without it coming off. Just going on the information I have available to me.
Thanks for the review, Austin. Really love the Wonderlust Green color and the change they made to the headstock. Frets just need to be more "jumbo" in size (and more polished) for better playability. Epiphone...please start using the same Gibson fret wire, or even bigger, if possible!!!
The gold one is my favorite..I dig the greenish blue that u have also
I like the way the pickups sound. It sounds more aggressive because the Classic Pro pickups use Alinco V instead of Alnico II magnets. Good playing, BTW.
Seriously, this is like a godsend for those of us who have bad backs/shoulders and have wanted to play a Les Paul.
Just sit down. Les Paul was usually sitting. A light Les Paul is not a Les Paul. No sustain. Just having a bit of fun. ; )
I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the green one
just purchased the sg muse im excited to see what u have to say on that!
For the loose knobs, you can slightly spread the spindle apart with a flathead screwdriver.
That gold top muse looks pretty cool. Like a traditional meets modern thing.
A thin body and chambered? That’s literally the Les Paul I was dreaming of for the past year. I’m early 20s male, but my cheap epiphone is killing my back. I wish there was a classic gold top finish, but that green is still pretty cool.
those smoked almond metallic ones kinda look like gold tops (i saw it in a music store it really looked like it
For lose fitting knobs, wrap their posts with a small amount of teflon tape (make sure to test each knob afterwards for proper fit, finish and operability).
Just be careful that you don't make them so tight that if you have to take them off again you don't pull the guts out of the switch. Done it several times. Sometimes you can put it back together but usually when you yank the post out your screwed.
Dude i love how you showed off the finish options this time! Very creative!
I want to know how that was done considering the camera was moving...can't have been actual footage of the finishes.
I know that this is an older video Austin but man what a nice guitar.
Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
Yeah, that's a very nice looking neck.
It's funny. when I was younger, I really liked traditional colours like bursts, blacks or reds.
Now all I want are sparkles or metallic finishes. These look gorgeous
I saw a sparkle red Gretcsh the other day for $399 with Bigsby. Should of got it.
I mean, the guitars I *have* are pretty traditional finishes, which is why I think I'd get something different if I was going to get a new guitar.
Playing muse for the muse... nice
You love the sparkle guitars! 😉 Wonder what's happening with the 1959 Les Paul Standard? Was supposed to be out in June online shops are now stating mid July.
I see what you did there, playing Muse songs on a series called Les Paul Muse :)))))
73' msg page pickups from Australia will be going into mine. Great review!
I really like this. It's a good color and a good player, or, at least you made playing it look easy.
Im impressed with the chroma key editing when you were going through the finishes!
Yeah, very nicely done.
epiphone are truly kicking ass, almost all their les pauls and sgs are fantastic, the hollowbodies are great, same with squier their classic vibes and paranormals are great but imo the others are hit n miss, so all in all I reckon epiphone are better than squier in term of bringing out guitars but I prefer the fender designs, though you are making me want to re consider the les paul
As far as I know, most Epiphone Les Pauls have the offset tenon, it's just that most of them lack the extra routing in the body, so you don't notice it so much. The tenon in my old LP Custom is offset just like that.
Played 2 of these today they feel great sound very good, look good. I was blown away with 0 fret sprout only thing I didn’t like was the painted neck felt slow
Austin what are your thoughts on the epiphone prizm it's a rainbow color with Gibson pups switch craft switch orange capacitors??? I'd appreciate your feedback
I have the SG Muse in Pearl White - a classy color in that pearl - doesn't hurt too many feelings. It is NOT weight relieved and seems to fill a niche that the real Gibson doesn't regardless of the push/pull and phase (why do you want that pull knob handier? You'll NEVER use it) features. At least as far as the SG for $430 with all those foo foo features and a darn good fit n finish - a solid "D with shoulders" I call the neck - super fast - Gibson has *nothing* to compare it too...that's a GOOD thing for Epi imo. The Gibson SG I would want that plays as well as the Muse would cost $900+ more and that ain't right. Ain't like that in the Fender world. 🎸
Will you do an uptown kat?!? Would be awesome to see!!!
i love this green , then again i like most greens XP
Those neck dimensions look spot on for the 60's Standard you reviewed.
Excellent and very thorough reply! This guitar sounds awesome, but not like a Les Paul. Another tonal niche in the arsenal.
Good playing demo in this one..you can rip some riffs that suprize me somtimes
I hate the way Epiphones sound and play but I’m so close to buying a muse! I love the purple and bright colors!
That seems like a really cool guitar - some Burstbuckers or Bare Knuckles would make it really, really good. I don't need another Les Paul but seems like a nice choice.
I love the color !!
I am interested in getting the pink one. It sure caught my attention.
So I have the jet black Les Paul Muse. I am a Fender fanboy, but since I got it, this Epi is my favorite guitar. The neck is soooo great. Mine weighs 7.2lbs which is awesome. I liked the classic pro humbuckers, but wanted to put in zebra's, so I swapped them out for alnico II zebra probuckers. It sounds less bright but that alnico II brilliance makes up for it without sounding shrill. In my opinion the Les Paul Muse is the hidden gem of the Epiphone line up. And because there is no Gibson equivalent, maybe a Gibson hidden gem too ;)
not sure if this was asked, how do you rate the Muse vs the Classic Worn purple? which is the 'better' option or are both really the same with the difference of a chambered body?
Ive been eying up that wine red les paul for a while. It looks taystay!!!!
Sounds versatile.
Well done.
Epiphone finally "fixed" the headstock but... eliminated the poker chip on the toggle switch!? Gorgeous finish on that guitar! The clear knobs are really cool too
might just be the new strings, but it sounds like there's an awful lot of fret buzz on that low E.
would you recommend this or the classic worn? bedroom guitarist here, $50 difference seems based on color finish
Hi there ,
The one thing I noticed you didn’t mention of the muse is the dish like carving in the body , it stood out to me , just like the old Les Paul’s
Pretty awesome body shape .. thx Bro ..
I love the look as I do with the LP worn, but I just can't get over the QC issues
I'm gonna check it because you saw the nut width is 1.65,not 1.69 like said in Epi specs.Tx for the info, and Tx for all your reviews.
nice editing on the colors.
I think the sgs counterparts work best cuz you get the spark finish the the back as well instead of all black
2:29 That's the most satisfying thing I've ever seen
it took me half of the year to realize its not Matt Bellamy new signature or something xDDD
I like this obviously and have spotted a color that I love... the only thing is theres alot of volume drop offs I'm hearing wher youd have to quickly turn it up or down between settings...kinda the same thing with some HSS guitars as well...
I'd be curious about the pots...aka 500k and or 25k...
But otherwise, locking tuners on it I could easily do,
7:16 so movin on from our chamberedBODY
Hey Trog, I notice that you never seem to comment on how well the guitar is set up from the factory on any guitar you preview. Personally, I have found that over the last ten years or so, the set up quality from the factories have been woefully poor. The actions come out so high you need to measure in the inches, not millimeters, poor fret jobs, etc. Gibson and Fender are the biggest culprits; whereas, Ibanez and similar seem to have better out of the box performance. I look forward to you including this sort of info in the future. Great channel!
Rich
At the end of the day, to me you are still getting a really nice guitar, for not a lot of money.
Epi's online ... nope .... quality and build is too inconsistent (especially fretwork , nut work , and neck profiles) .. try before you buy. The colors are pretty. I like the thin body + weight relieved idea and the headstock looks a lot better now. The snap - in bridge is very nice. Sound ... is ok . Easy to swap out pups if needed :) Good review Trog ... as usual. :)
How do you compare the muse against the classic worn tonewise? Any big difference since the muse is chambered? Is the classic worn much more heavy? :)
Would you be able to make a review of Epiphone’s Les Paul custom? I see so many good things about that guitar I was wondering how it would fair under your microscope
Hey pal, how did you fine the sustain on this compared to a normal Epi Les paul?
How similar to the new Studio is the Muse? Would like to see a review on the Studio as well...
Nice that you played a Muse solo on that Epiphone Muse haha
I just bought a 2020 (2019?) Epiphone 60's tribute Les Paul AAAA flame top maple veneer in the cherry sunburst and I LOVE it!! It's got push pull for coil split and phasing. It has a 57 classic in the neck and 57 classic+ at the bridge and true switch 3 way switch, I also bought the Lzzy Hale explorer and it has the regular Epiphone 3 way and yeah, huge difference!! I hate the one on the Lzzy Hale while the one on the LP is great, nice and quiet and snaps right in place. All CTS 500k Ohm pots, it's basically a Gibson with an Epiphone body and poly top. No problems with the frets and I love this neck shape. $650 and that comes with a hard case!! It has Grover, real Grover! Locking tuners and the graphtech nut.
Got the classic in ebony, a little dent on it got me 300 dollara back so paid 200 for it
Ron Just Ron
Where did you get it from?
Only ones I saw were the tribute plus
Costing $1,100-$1,200
@@bikerjon8934You must be thinking about Gibson Tribute... not Epiphone at those prices... that's the price difference.
I've got one in the dark cherry. Love it. Bought it new in 2015.
@@MusicTherapyLaz no..you can get the epiphones for 650 all day on ebay and reverb
I really like that green!
12:17 is that "i still think about you" by danger danger?
I would love to see an epiphone les Paul 100 review they’re super inexpensive possibly the cheapest new les Paul’s on the market I wonder if they’re worth the price or more
The color is cool.
For me, the contour of the body makes all the difference in the world. The guitar is way more comfortable ergonomically with the contour. Epiphone and Gibson should do that to more models. The author didn't like the pickups. Electronics can always be upgraded. Over, a very good review of the Muse model. I wish they had the Cherry Wine color/pattern like the classic SG. I'm not to crazy about Epiphones color choices except for the whit and all black. If this guitar were to come in Cherry/Wine color, I'd be the first to buy one. I'll write to Gibson and suggest it.
Hello, just found your channel, good stuff. I plan check out your vast video collection. Wondering if you have or will do a review of the Gibson LP Ultra and the Epiphone LP Prophecy Series, that would be very interesting)👍
Ah, I get it, play muse on the LP Muse. Needs more gain but you got it!
EDIT: also Matt Bellamy would probably not work with Gibson/Epi since he has his own company - I think you should check one of the newer models out since they're being released! the Manson Meta series MBM-1.
Manson isn't Matt's company, it's Hugh Mansons..but he is a signature artist for them
@@open_world_media Actually this is incorrect. He now owns the company as he has a majority share.
That camo model they released was pretty sexy - it's a shame it was that limited.
$499 for a chambered Les Paul...? That seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Ages ago (well, 80s-90s) I tried a LP and it just... biased me against Les Pauls. Heavy, felt like I was playing a baseball bat, I just didn't like it. I gave the Muse a shot (Arctic White - love it with the black back, actually) and I'm a convert. :) Mine does have a couple of finish issues, I think I'v ementioned them in comments in the past, but I love this thing. Tempted towards another to change out the pickups (Black or autumn with humbucker-size P90s, maybe.)
This guitar basically has the Jimmy Page wiring setup. It's just missing the series/parallel option. Put in some DiMarzio 36th anniversary PAFs or Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers would be perfect for this guitar. I plan to eventually do the Page wiring and Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers in my 2012 Ebony Les Paul Standard.
I always love seeing the boob shelf being used on guitars
I was expecting some joke about the name and i was dissapointed...until the sound demo started! haha
Can you make a review of the epi les paul Studio?
Great video thanks
