In many ways, people--especially those younger in their teens--don't realize that they can/should compromise or talk things out with their significant other if something goes wrong, and that they shouldn't be with someone when they haven't weighed all their beliefs/goals in life with the person they may have feelings for if they aren't as flexible with those types of things. No one should feel reserved or hesitant to talk with their s.o over things that might be considered more serious or more reflective on their future. And if the person they're with isn't as open-minded to listen or take their words into consideration, then maybe that means that's not the right person for them. While others like a more spontaneous or more chance-based relationship and jump into things before putting other matters into consideration, I personally think that's kind of a waste of time should things not work out because they didn't spend enough time getting to know each other well enough beforehand, and that obviously won't work in the long-run should the two people not be compatible/flexible.
I know there's something wrong with the idea that I'm not good enough for anyone who is good enough for me. I also think that a good relationship is something different than what I think is a good relationship. Contradictions much?
