  • How do you find the best play ever the board when faced with several alternatives? In this short lesson, I show you how to compare candidate plays and choose the move with the most value.
    How to play 63, 61 and 53 below:
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    63 and 61 - 11/5* 8/5 (anything else is a blunder!)
    53 - 8/3 5/3 (anything else is at least an error!)

    Im new and have a question. If you’re green and saw me make the 4 point what would you hope to do with your next roll and what would you hope to do if I made the 9 point?

      There is not one answer to this question, but when your opponent makes an inner point, you'd like to make one yourself. You can also split to fight for an advanced anchor. I give lessons if you'd like to discuss further. Best wishes

      Yes, backgammon has a paradoxical nature. It often seems the more you learn, the less you know. Curiosity is a wonderful thing.
